I bought another PetSafe automatic litter box for my second property and it is absolutely one of the best. It has completely changed how we deal with litter. My wife has two cats, and before this, she was cleaning constantly and still fighting with odor (laundry room was not a pleasant place to be). However, now everything stays fresh, and that area doesn’t smell like a litter box anymore even with both(!) cats using it. One of them diabetic, so he visits it even more often than a normal cat would. The setup was super simple and took maybe 10 minutes, thanks to the detailed guidance provided. I love that it connects to the app so I can keep track of when the cats go and when it’s time to change the tray. The best part of it is I can track how many times my diabetic cat goes in to confirm if everything is good or maybe we need to check his blood sugar level. The machine runs quietly, I barely notice it and the modern design doesn’t look out of place - it can be placed anywhere in the house. I change the waste bag about once a week (because my diabetic cat uses it more often), and it’s so much easier (and cleaner) than scooping every day. Plus, it actually uses less litter than my old boxes, which definitely offsets the device cost a bit. Overall, it’s an investment, but absolutely worth it for the time and cleanliness. The PetSafe ScoopFree SmartSpin Self-Cleaning Litter box works fairly well and definitely helps reduce how often I need to scoop. When it’s running smoothly, it keeps things cleaner and the odor down, which is a big plus. However, it’s a bit noisier than expected, and sometimes the cleaning cycle doesn’t catch everything, so occasional manual cleanup is still needed. this automatic litter box, and let me tell it, life changing. Set up was pretty pain free, and then you basically forget about it. It fits roughly the same as the average litter box, but gives so much more life to the litter as it’s cleaning after each use, and sifting it out. IMO, it didn’t take up much more space than the previous pan litter box for, I didn’t have to move anything around to “make room” and my kitten has had no trouble getting into it as far as being too high or anything, and there wasn’t really an adjustment period either. I’ve had it set up for about a week now, and haven’t had to change the bin yet! (Only one little kitten!) i never smell litter box anymore! And the best part, it’s practically silent! The app allows customization in frequency of cleaning and timing and it’s easy to use as well. I've tried several litter boxes before, but the ScoopFree SmartSpin is a game-changer. Initially it seemed to work well, other than the add litter button not working. So I bought a second one for upstairs (add litter function doesn’t work on that one either). I have had both of them for a few months, and my frustration with them only keeps getting worse. It doesn’t handle odor well. I’m constantly having to clean poop that gets smeared on the inside of the dome, and because of the design, it’s much harder to clean than an open litter box. Litter and poop get trapped between the magnet and the dome. The sensors will get blocked and think a cat is in the litter box, causing it to stop in the middle of a cleaning cycle with the waste bin exposed. If I’m not home, that can leave my cats without a usable litter box. Even if I am home, the app doesn’t do a good job of alerting me to the problem, so it might be a while before I realize it has malfunctioned, which in rare cases can lead to my cats pooping on the floor next to the litter box. The dome shape makes it hard to add litter, because most boxes/cartons/bags of litter are too big to fit through the hole, so I have to use a scoop to shovel fresh litter into the box. The waste bin tends to fill more on one side than the other, and there isn’t enough clearance between the bottom of the dome and the waste bin, so literally every time I change the waste bin, some of the waste gets skimmed off the top of the bin and falls on the floor under the litter box, and I have to pick it up. Sometimes during cleaning cycle, clumps of litter or poop will fall through the entrance onto the floor or steps in front of the litter box. Sometimes the litter box randomly loses connection to WiFi, and since the app is the only way to see info on why the litter box isn’t working, without WiFi there’s no way to know why it has stopped *yet again* in the middle of a cleaning cycle. This litter box is way too expensive to be such useless piece of garbage. It has become more trouble than scooping a regular litter box. Just a pain. ... show more
