I bought another PetSafe automatic litter box for my second property and it is absolutely one of the best. It has completely changed how we deal with litter. My wife has two cats, and before this, she was cleaning constantly and still fighting with odor (laundry room was not a pleasant place to be). However, now everything stays fresh, and that area doesn’t smell like a litter box anymore even with both(!) cats using it. One of them diabetic, so he visits it even more often than a normal cat would. The setup was super simple and took maybe 10 minutes, thanks to the detailed guidance provided. I love that it connects to the app so I can keep track of when the cats go and when it’s time to change the tray. The best part of it is I can track how many times my diabetic cat goes in to confirm if everything is good or maybe we need to check his blood sugar level. The machine runs quietly, I barely notice it and the modern design doesn’t look out of place - it can be placed anywhere in the house. I change the waste bag about once a week (because my diabetic cat uses it more often), and it’s so much easier (and cleaner) than scooping every day. Plus, it actually uses less litter than my old boxes, which definitely offsets the device cost a bit. Overall, it’s an investment, but absolutely worth it for the time and cleanliness.     • Expensive pile of poo
Initially it seemed to work well, other than the add litter button not working. So I bought a second one for upstairs (add litter function doesn’t work on that one either). I have had both of them for a few months, and my frustration with them only keeps getting worse. It doesn’t handle odor well. I’m constantly having to clean poop that gets smeared on the inside of the dome, and because of the design, it’s much harder to clean than an open litter box. Litter and poop get trapped between the magnet and the dome. The sensors will get blocked and think a cat is in the litter box, causing it to stop in the middle of a cleaning cycle with the waste bin exposed. If I’m not home, that can leave my cats without a usable litter box. Even if I am home, the app doesn’t do a good job of alerting me to the problem, so it might be a while before I realize it has malfunctioned, which in rare cases can lead to my cats pooping on the floor next to the litter box. The dome shape makes it hard to add litter, because most boxes/cartons/bags of litter are too big to fit through the hole, so I have to use a scoop to shovel fresh litter into the box. The waste bin tends to fill more on one side than the other, and there isn’t enough clearance between the bottom of the dome and the waste bin, so literally every time I change the waste bin, some of the waste gets skimmed off the top of the bin and falls on the floor under the litter box, and I have to pick it up. Sometimes during cleaning cycle, clumps of litter or poop will fall through the entrance onto the floor or steps in front of the litter box. Sometimes the litter box randomly loses connection to WiFi, and since the app is the only way to see info on why the litter box isn’t working, without WiFi there’s no way to know why it has stopped *yet again* in the middle of a cleaning cycle. This litter box is way too expensive to be such useless piece of garbage. It has become more trouble than scooping a regular litter box. Just a pain. ... show more

    • Honestly so worth it!
This litter box is actually so good. I used to hate scooping litter every day, but with this one, I barely have to touch it for like two weeks. It cleans itself after my cat uses it, and it’s not loud or anything it just does the job. It also keeps everything smelling clean, which is a huge plus. I thought the open design might smell bad, but it’s not a problem at all. The little drawer that catches the waste seals up pretty tight. What surprised me the most was the app. It tells you when your cat uses the litter box and even tracks stuff like their weight. Kinda cool, especially if you want to make sure your pet’s doing okay. Only downside is it’s a bit expensive, but honestly, for how much easier it makes my life, I think it’s worth it. If you have a cat and don’t want to deal with the mess every day, this is the way to go. ... show more

I genuinely bought this litter box under a thick veil of skepticism because of the pretty mixed reviews. I am SO GLAD I chose to get it. I’ve had cats my whole life and this is the first self-cleaning litter box I’ve ever owned. The ease is unmatched. My current cat is a little 10-week-old kitten so I don’t have the auto feature on, but I run it a few times a day manually and it’s been working flawlessly. Also had to put a box in front of it as it’s pretty tall! My only complaint so far is that the soiled litter is sticking to the silicone insert at the bottom. I’m hopeful that will stop once I’m putting more litter in there as Sonny gets bigger. He took to using it without hesitation and I catch him playing inside it often, lol. I’ve tried a few different litter boxes over the years, but this one takes the prize. The self-cleaning feature works exactly as promised, keeping everything fresh without me constantly scooping. The odor control is fantastic — my house no longer smells like a litter box, even with multiple cats. Setup was simple, and I really like that it connects to the app. Being able to track visits and health data gives me peace of mind that my cats are doing well.
