Automatic litter boxes are amazing… convenient… keep your babies clean, happy and safe! I’ve had an automatic litter box for many many years now but recently bought a second one for a friend who is renting out my carriage house for a while. She has two kitties and fell in love with my litter box the second she saw it… how easy and convenient it was to use, how well they control any additional unwanted odors you might not even realize you have and she would always raves about how much easier it makes life for everyone especially when she helps take care of my baby when I have to travel for work. She recently moved in to my carriage house so I ended up buying her one for her birthday as well!!! We will NEVER go back!! That said, if / when you might decide to buy an automatic litter box definitely make sure you “ease” your cat into knowing what it is, how it works and I always suggest letting your kitty get used to it for at least a couple weeks by leaving the automatic cycling part off for at least a little while and take the time to just manually cycle it on your own when you can, preferably when your kitty is around but not necessarily next to it, or able to be suddenly surprised by it … that way the kitty doesn’t get scared suddenly if it goes off the first couple times if they aren’t expecting it. That is one main thing people forget (or don’t realize they should do, especially if your cat has never used or seen one before) … my cat got used to it very quickly with that method. She would here me start it, from the other room and come investigate… I keep my litter box in a designated area in the corner of my large bathroom and would basically just cycle it manually every time I went to the restroom myself… she was confused at first but not scared at all and quickly learned exactly what was going to happen eventually even when I wasn’t home. She loves it! She’s also old and picky and is OCD sometimes with having a clean litter box… let’s just say she’s definitely spoiled for sure! I also purchased the additional steps/ramp option on mine to help her access the box without having to jump in … the older she got it was easier for her to climb in and out and a great way to help minimize any excess litter get off her paws as well with the built in rubber mat part etc. I keep a mat at the end of the steps as well but I couldn’t be more happy with the extra option for the steps for sure (my kitty is 15 years old & diabetic) she uses it A LOT but it is definitely worth every cent in my opinion!! She is happy, there is absolutely NO cat odors 99% of the time and the convenience of just having to remove and replace a bag insert every couple weeks (depending on the number of animals and usage of course) is so much easier than having to scoop & replace litter every day, annnd personally I think it’s much cleaner as well! If you travel it’s a total must have.. not just for you but also convenient if you ever require a cat sitter etc. you can even cycle the box and track the usage to help provide info to the vet if needed as well. As I said my cat is diabetic and takes insulin twice a day so I always have a friend come give her the meds when I travel but the vet also gets valuable information from the data on how much she uses it which helps monitor insulin levels and stuff or something as well. Lastly, make sure to read the instructions and try to stick with the litter selections for your machine… I prefer to use the light weight litter as it cycles easier, the weight in the “time to change the litter” is way more flexible and it works like a champ! Needless to say, I will never go back to a standard litter box… Best investment ever! Enjoy! ... show more

After have this in the house for several months now, here are my thoughts. Pros - I was worried my cats would be scared to use this especially because one of them is very skittish but after a day or two they preferred this over the traditional litterbox. The weight detection works great and stops the cleaning process if the cats get a little too curious. The price is perfect for something like this and much cheaper than alternatives. Once you get it set-up it will change your life. No more scooping litter, no more ammonia smell especially if you use something like a litter deodorizer and love that you don't need to use any kind of expensive special litter. The simple design and "grate system" to separate waste from the litter is elegant and works every time. The app is surprisingly easy to use too once you get it started, can't say anything about the security of it but haven't had any issues so far. The bag to collect waste is also very nice and easy to clean. With two cats I usually empty it every 2-3 days. You can also reuse the bag, haven't had to change it once since I got it. Cons: The only real cons I see are set-up can be a little confusing/frustrating with the pairing to the app and little to no visual aids to let you know if it's working or not but took me around 10-15 minutes of finagling for it to get setup. The actual physical litterbox basically comes assembled. If you want to do a deep clean of the drum, it can be a little annoying to clean the nooks and crannies but you should be able to get most of the muck you can see. Otherwise I think this is the best bang for buck you can get for a self-cleaning litterbox and will never be going back to traditional boxes again. ... show more

    • Unfortunately, it's a "no" for us.
If you are planning on having a cat or got a kitty, then yes, this is the best litter box. It's easy to set up with the app, does what it's suppossed to do, super easy to clean, and it does work perfectly with crystal litter. However, I found that it stops in the middle of cleaning and stays there without a notification from the app. The app even said that everything was fine. And there were no cats around when that happened. But our two adult cats didn't like the idea of going from an open big cat litter box (automatic too) to this cave with little space for one cat. Neither training nor treats worked. It's a shame. But yes, it seems to be a good litter box. ... show more
