Top Amazon Reviews

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The self-cleaning cat litter box seems to be an innovative solution for cat owners, with most finding the automatic cleaning feature very helpful and convenient. Users appreciate its odor control capabilities and user-friendly app, though a few note it can be messy and sometimes difficult to clean the residues after the automatic process. The box appears to be well-received, especially for pregnant women or those who wish to reduce the hassle of manual scooping.

Pros

  • 🐾 Easy to set up and use
  • 📦 Includes trash bags and defaults to low maintenance
  • 📱 Useful app with tracking features
  • 🤫 Quiet operation with no noticeable odors
  • 🔔 Sends alerts when the waste drawer needs emptying
  • ↔️ Has manual operation mode if Wi-Fi is down

Cons

  • ⏲️ May require timer adjustments for better cleaning
  • 🧽 Can leave poop stains, requires additional cleaning
  • 🐾 Litter may be scattered outside of the box
  • 👀 Some cats treat it like a toy, which may interrupt cycles

Should I Buy It?

If convenience and odor control are top priorities for you as a cat owner, this self-cleaning litter box may be worth the investment. It seems especially beneficial for those unable to do manual scooping, such as during pregnancy. However, if you're concerned about occasional extra cleaning or a higher price point, you might want to weigh the automatic benefits with the responsibilities of potential clean-up.

  • Worst Purchase Ever – Nearly Burned My House Down!
If you enjoy loud noises, unpleasant smells, and near-death experiences, then this litter box is for you! Where do I even begin? Buckle up, because this litter box is a disaster wrapped in cheap plastic. - Flimsy as a Pool Noodle: I think I could’ve built a sturdier litter box with some cardboard and duct tape. The plastic on this thing is so thin and cheap, it started warping after a week. At this rate, it might disintegrate before my cats even figure out how to use it. - Self-Cleaning... LOL, Not Really: The self-cleaning feature is a joke. It’s like this thing has one job and it’s on permanent coffee break. It jams more than a terrible cover band, leaving me to do the dirty work. Every day, I end up elbow-deep in cat litter wondering what I did to deserve this. - The Sound of Nightmares: The motor sounds like it’s trying to chew through metal every time it “cleans” (I use that term loosely). It's so loud, my cats are afraid of it, and I’m pretty sure my neighbors think I'm operating heavy machinery in the middle of the night. - Waste Drawer – More Like Waste of Time Drawer: The drawer is so small, you’d think it’s for one tiny hamster, not actual cats. It fills up faster than my patience runs out, and if you don’t empty it constantly, the whole thing gives up and stops working. Super convenient, right? - Smells Like Regret: This litter box doesn’t just fail to control odors—it creates them. My house has never smelled worse. I’ve tried everything, from scented candles to opening every window in the dead of winter. I swear, it’s like the litter box has a hidden feature where it intensifies bad smells just to mock me. - The Real Shocker – Literally!: Here’s the best part—after a couple of weeks, the cord started sparking and smoking like it was auditioning for a Michael Bay movie. I had to dive across the room to unplug it and avoid what I can only imagine would’ve been a litter box fire of epic proportions. Ever wanted your litter box to double as a fire hazard? This one’s got you covered. - Setup Struggles: The setup instructions were written by someone who’s clearly never seen a litter box. I spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to assemble it, only to wonder if I was actually building an Ikea dresser instead. I've reached out to the manufacturer multiple times without any response so don't count on the warranty. In short, this litter box is a cat-astrophe (see what I did there?). If you value your sanity, your sense of smell, and your house not burning down, do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this disaster. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy—or maybe I would, depends on how bad they are! ... show more

  • Does a great job and is remarkably quiet
Have had other similar boxes to this in the past and they were much more expensive (not that $500 is to be sniffed at). I use the PrettyLitter litter, which is obviously part of the equation with smell control etc. First things first, I'm impressed with the quiet operation of the device. I keep it in the room next to my bedroom, and my prior version I had to keep on a timed switch so that it didn't activate at night as I'm a light sleeper. This one might run once or a hundred times a night. I don't notice it. I have a sphinx cat, which are generally known to not have the least smelly bathroom trips of all cats. As I say, I use pretty litter, which does a good job in the box, and for the most part works well with the unit. The mesh on the box is a little wide, such that some "smaller particles" get returned to the waste, so that after 2-3 weeks, I need to switch out the remainder of the litter, but this is much in line with the recommendations of prettylitter, and to be honest, I usually let it go four weeks and I have no problems. The box has some interesting features like ionic deodorization I couldn't say if it actually helps, but certainly if I run the deodorizer cycle it smells "ionic" (i.e. a bit electric, which is better than my kittens smells). The unit connects to SmartLife and it works great from there in terms of configuration and so on. I also have it linked in through my home assistant system, so if I really need to, I can tell it to run a cycle, though as it runs after a few minutes of the cat leaving, I have never had to use this feature much. Once it's set up it pretty much runs on its own. As there is only one button on the machine, that can be a bit confusing (hold for three seconds to do this, 10 seconds to do that...) and I didn't find the language in the SmartLife app particularly intuitive ("CLEARANCE vs. CLEAN") - I know what it means now but i learned by pressing the button and then saying lots of rude words while the box emptied all the litter into the trash when I just wanted it to scoop. The monitors in the app (and therefore home assistant) seem pretty good (if it says full, empty it...!) I haven't thought of any fun things to do with my home assistant integration (maybe one minute after the cat has left, fire up a shot of febreze and run the roomba?) but I'm sure I will find some way to geek out over it. On the downside, I do find that the robot body is a little smaller than other units I have used, which occasionally means my little fella goes in to do his business and treads through his waste before he backs out and then treads it around a bit. There is also no good protection against litter being kicked up out of the unit, meaning that I do spend a lot of time vacuuming, sweeping and running a roomba if there are no "paw prints" on the ground) to keep things clean. Also, my little guy is a kitten and at first struggled to get into the bulb - Your cat has to be able to make the jump into the unit, there are no stairs. In terms of reducing litter "pollution" I have had to work with a few different mat types to find something that works outside of the litter. The curved front coupled with extremely sensitive feet (which I believe are used to detect the cat in the unit) means that a traditional litter rug has to be gone at with an X-acto knife in order to make all the pieces and my feet happy. Still haven't found a good solution to this yet, would probably be a good add on for the company to just sell me something that works! :) Overall very pleased. Manages the poop and the pee for several weeks at a time. It can be a little hard to clean when the little guy has more loose stools (thanks Spinx breed and kittens) but I wouldn't swap it out for the world (unless someone wants to offer me a different free one to try). Would recommend. Nothing is going to get cat poop perfect, and this does more than enough to make me happy. ... show more

  • You Get What You Pay For - Save for the Litter-Robot Instead
This is the first time I have ever written an Amazon review because I want to ensure those of you reading this do not make the same mistake I did. I purchased this automatic litter box in February 2024, and it is now June 2025. The device began breaking down within a few months, and it is currently unplugged (I use it like a normal litter box for now and scoop out the dirty clumps until I have the money to rectify this frustratingly painful mistake). Set Up - Similar to what others have said, this litter box's manual is in a different language, and unlike actual brands, it does not have any sort of help website, replacement parts, or customer service - I had a friend come over and it took us hours trying to set everything up. The app is glitchy and poorly designed because, again, this is a budget-friendly knock-off of the Litter-Robot Durability - The orb and the litter sifter thing both broke. They are made of plastic, but they do not last long and I tried using Gorilla Super Glue to keep everything together Cleaning - You will have to manually scrub this device nearly every day to keep it clean. At that point, why invest in an automatic device? The poor quality build and functioning causes tremendous feces stains, litter and poop falling all through the crevices and mechanical parts, and constant need to take everything apart to clean up. It is a physical burden to just maintain cleanliness for the device, as its contents will spill all over each compartment, hole, your floor, and all the plastic parts. Odor - I don't think the deodorizer works properly. I had to plug in a Glade scent plug-in to help mask the odors Cat Likeability/Sound - I used this for 2 adult cats and they shared the box, were not afraid of the sound, and had no issues with feeling comfortable, so at least there's that. You, however, will undergo stress and duress in trying to keep the machine clean, deal with mechanical failures, and have to research a replacement within 1 year of purchase because the plastic pieces are so fragile (especially with the amount of taking apart and cleaning you will have to do) As a first-time cat owner and on a budget I tried to save money and make my life more convenient by buying the $300 version when I should have just gone for the $500-$800 brand name device that would have a longer warranty, replacement pieces, real customer service, and much higher reviews. Even if Amazon puts this on sale for half the price, I hope nobody is as desperate as I am to endure such a headache of a purchase!!! ... show more

  • Not Worth the Savings
I bought three of these units over the course of a month and a half to ease the transition for our cats from regular litter boxes. The first unit seemed fine, we bought a second unit, by the time I bought the third unit I only stayed with this brand to keep all litter bins in the same app. Issue #1 was picked up right away. They did a poor job translating everything from Chinese to English. Now the app will display such gems as “Enter the cat, weighing 6 kg” or “The bin is full, please clear in time!” These are mild, some are written so confusing it’s hard to figure out what is going on. Issue #2 You can only receive one alert at a time in the app. So if the litter tray is full and the machine is low on litter, you will only be able to see that the tray is full. This isn’t too bad, but it’s annoying when you go to the upstairs to empty the tray and find out you have to go back downstairs and get more litter. Issue #3 is that there is no clear guidance on how much litter to add. If you don’t add enough the inside of the drum becomes messy quickly, if you add too much it dumps the excess directly to the tray on first operation. I bought a special scoop to try to gauge how much litter to add and it’s still hit or miss. Issue #4 is that the device will malfunction and the app will not alert you in any way until you log back in and check it. My cats just spent a day using one unit like a regular litter box because the automatic clearance wouldn’t actuate. Issue #5 is that you can sign up for SMS alerts for $20 a month. What kind of cash grab is that?? I never bothered to see if that was per unit or a flat rate, I would never pay that ridiculous amount in either case. Overall the device is glitchy and requires constant monitoring to ensure it’s working properly. When I say constant, I feel like I need to open the app at least twice per day. Yes it’s nice to not have to scoop litter, but cleanup on the device is a hassle as well. The difficult cleanup wouldn’t be a problem if not for the other myriad of issues listed above. My recommendation would be to seek out a better brand unless you’re stuck to your budget. I plan on swapping these out for better devices in a year. ... show more

  • LIFE CHANGER
Like everyone else who probably purchased this item, I was hesitant at first to buy it due to the large price tag, but I eventually pulled the trigger and here are my thoughts after using it now for the past 2 months: 1. The box comes already assembled and really easy to plug in and get going. The set up process with the app was a little glitchy at first but I figured it out and after the app was set up it was smooth sailing. 2. In regards to function this litter box is awesome. You can set up through the app how long after your cat leaves the box do you want the robot to clean (I chose 1 minute). It works seamlessly and the clumped litter drops into the bottom of the bin then the deodorizer starts working shortly afterwards. There were a few times where the robot got stuck because I accidentally added too much litter and the cylinder was too heavy to make a full rotation. So be careful not to add too much litter. 3. ZERO smell whatsoever. Has significantly improved the odor in the room where the litter box is kept. 4. Cats had no issue with transitioning. They were using it by day 1 and to this day think its magic when they see the robot do its thing. 5. Only drawback is during the rotation process of cleaning the litter it can kick out a small amount of litter. I vacuum daily so it is not a problem but can definitely be annoying. 6. Cleanup is easy! Just remove the bin and toss the bag. No scooping necessary. Add some litter back to robot if needed. Place a new bag and you are done. I would recommend a deep clean of the inside of the robot at least once a month. Overall, this litter box is amazing. When you make this purchase you are investing in your TIME and quality of life. I change the litter bin once every 3-4 days, add litter as needed and it's that simple. And the smell is gone. Really wish I made this purchase sooner. Makes being a cat daddy so much easier. ... show more

  • Works great Works great
I really absolutely love this robotic litter box. It has made my life a million times easier. I hated the process of cleaning my cats litter boxes which often resulted in me leaving them dirty for too long sometimes. This thing has changed my "cleaning time" down to maybe 5-7 minutes (as I still have 1 regular little box). The box itself is a little tall so if you have a cat that is older and weaker, I'd suggest getting a little step to go in front of it. One of my cats is a little bit messy, as she always goes at the verrrrry front of the box, which sometimes results in a little bit of a mess but believe it or not since there is the little grated step pad at the front, it actually helps keep most of the mess inside the box still as when she backs up to go she hits that instead of it spilling over the edge as much. But if you have a normal cat that actually uses a litter box correctly, you shouldn't have to worry about and mess coming out of the box at all. The cleaning cycle works well and usually gets everything out. I will say, if you fill the litter too high, past the lip of the inner line that goes around the the inside of the box, then you will end up with wasted litter. The one thing that I actually dislike about this litter box actually has nothing to do with the box itself. It's the functionally of the App. First of all, the liter status ALWAYS says "lack" even when you fill it. you have to over fill it in order to get it to an "adequate" status at which point you will just waste a bunch of litter once the first cleaning cycles happens and then the status will be at "lack" again. Next, I was under the impression that I would receive actual notifications on my phone when the box is used, after cleaning, or when the dirty litter bin is full/needs replaced. I have not for the life of me been able to figure out how to get the app to send push notifications on my phone. I always need to open the app and go to the messages to see what activities have happened for the day. I really am not sure if I can trust any of the statuses as if you look at the pictures I posted, the "dust bin" is showing as "adequate" but the bin is pretty full (sorry if grossed out) in the picture I provided (if you're looking for a litter box, I'm sure you've seen dirty, used, litter lol). If this would have continued creating for another day the bin would've been so full that opening the drawer would cause the overfilled dirty litter to spill over while pulling the bin out Overall, if you're just looking for a robotic litter box that will make your life way easier then this is definitely the litter box to go with since its half the price of a brand name litter robot. But if you also want this for the high tech app aspect of this, I would suggest to maybe just go with the name brand litter robot as the app for this box, although functional, is really not the best. ... show more

  • Don’t buy this if you want to invest in an automatic litter box Don’t buy this if you want to invest in an automatic litter box
UPDATE: As of the time that I wrote the previous review, the litter box has stopped working and there’s no customer support or troubleshooting and they also refused to send a replacement. I received a refund, but i don’t want a refund for this - I want a working machine! I should’ve just continued using a regular stainless steel pan and scooped the litter myself… now I have a big useless litter box that I have to manually scoop. For an item that is a major expense, there should be technical support offered. 0/10 - WOULD NOT recommend. ORIGINAL REVIEW I received it pretty quickly after ordering. Setup was simple and the seller was great for sending 4 replacement sensor feet when I was missing 2 of them and the other 2 were worn. The actual automatic litter functions well enough. The app is very simple (maybe too much so), and i feel it’s not connected well the to machine. It’s constantly notifying of a lack of litter no matter how much litter is in there. The plastic flap that guides waste to the bin has holes that are too large so sometimes fecal waste gets caught. My cat had no problem using it, but I noticed he was constantly sniffing around the bottom of it and walking away, losing interest. i realized that he’s smelling what’s in the waste bin, so I checked and the waste bin doesn’t close flush. There’s a gap that allows the odor to escape and that puts him off, so it’s more difficult to get him interested in it, which could mean this was a waste of money for me :( if he doesn’t come around to it. I can even smell it when I get close to the bin. I personally think the construction isn’t great. Entrance is small, inside is just spacious enough I think (my cat is an average size 1yr old male), and there is no obvious step stool for easy entrance. To open the top and fill with litter, you need to press into the sides and that’s difficult enough that I have injured myself twice. I wouldn’t say this item is user friendly and it’s somewhat cat friendly. I use world’s best multicat litter and sustainably yours multi cat litter for this - I feel they both work fine, although sustainably yours sticks a bit compared to world’s best. Overall, I feel that for my first automatic cat litter box, it’s okay, but I will invest in a higher quality one in the future. ... show more

  • Seven month review
I purchased this litter box in March of 2024. -Unboxing was easy, as was the assembly. Connecting it to the app wasn’t too bad either. It helped making sure the litter box was near our router, without having to pass through walls. The app works beautifully. Lets us know when one of our cat goes in, and her weight. Then it cleans and deodorizes upon exit. Our other cat is terrified of the litter box. It started to move while she was in it, and that was it for her. We are still working on this with her. My husband changed the settings, so that the litter box waits 10minutes after a cat leaves, to self clean. We have a Maine Coone kitten that’s about a year now, she fits inside. Sometimes she will place her paws on the front instep and bring her head out, but I rarely see her do this. So thus far the height of the litter box is fine. I would say the first 5 months we had little issues. The app isn’t reliable, and doesn’t speak well to the litter box. They need a therapist so they start communicating better. My issue is that the app tells us the litter is low. When we add more and more, it never tells us when there’s enough. It will dump excess in the waste bin underneath and continue to show litter low. Six months in, the app doesn’t calculate when my cats (yes, our cat that was afraid has just started using it again) go in and use it. It also isn’t self cleaning on its own. And sometimes it will randomly self clean and a cat hasn’t gone inside. Seven months in: almost daily I have found the litter box stuck upside down. My cat has pooped outside the box, because she couldn’t go inside. TROUBLESHOOTING-You press the button on the front and it beeps, this will do the self clean mode. Hold it down five seconds-it beeps twice, this allows you to connect it to your network. Hold it down ten seconds, it beeps differently and completely resets the litter box to when first unboxed. This also will remove the device from your app. I then unplugged it. And then started to re-sync it to the app. Since I completely reset the litter box it is back to communicating with the app, weighing the cats, self cleaning and deodorizing. Moving forward, I will be more mindful of the litter box needing to be checked. Not rely on the app, and make sure I push the button on the front if needed to self clean. At the end of the day, it is tedious, but it helps me a lot. If I start having problems again, I may completely reset the machine and try not connecting it to the app. And I may just walk over to it multiple times a day and click the button to have it do a clean cycle. As long as it continues to clean either through the app or the button, I am satisfied. The litter box does make noise. Nothing too loud or obnoxious. I like that I can hear it, if I’m in the same room, this way I can make sure it doesn’t get stuck upside down. Will continue to update this review. ... show more
