We bought this while it was on sale and made an impulsive (though mildly informed) decision and bought this. We have 3 cats and having to bend down and scoop poop, especially after a long day of work and some mobility issues. It's functions are fully customizable and work pretty dang well. It's UI is really easy to understand and is intuitive for the most part. Navigating the menu on the LED on the litter box isn't as much, but it's mostly due to the double-click confirmation. You scroll through the menu, then single click the option, THEN double click to confirm. I'm sure it's a safety feature but it took me sec to figure that out since I kept getting frustrated that it wouldn't go through. The robot is pretty damn big, about 2 regular bots wide and length, considering it's functionality, so expect it to take up a good amount of space. Now, about all the subscriptions you'll be presented with with it's many moving parts. The cloud service it has is relatively useful, but considering it locks the extra functionalities behind a subscription, it's a little frustrating. The filter for the trash receptacle is relatively cheap to replace and it does a damn good job at covering up the smell of the building trash bag. The bag needs to be packed every 2-4 days depending on the cats' frequency which isn't all too bad. The gripes I have with it are few. One issue I came across is the packing functionality works mostly fine, using heat to melt the bag-ends and sealing the bag. I had an issue where the robot did NOT do a good job of splitting the sealed bag from the new part of the bag and it ended up with me prying it apart. The full bag was fine but it ended up creating a tear in the refill, thus rendering it completely useless (unless I missed a way to re-seal it or find a remedy.) I had to refill the ring with a new, non-torn one and that's money down the drain. Overall, I'd consider it a great purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone who's got the money and who needs a little extra help around the house.

After a few weeks of usage I can at least say for now that this unit is amazing. I have owned many auto litter bots and this is far superior in every way. There is NO work involved here. The dirty litter bin is very large. Great for multiple cats. The way it closes after every cleaning keeps the smell down and I love how I never have to change the bagging system. It seals the litter bag when dirty and you remove the old one and it auto sets the new one. Amazing. The camera works great. Records everything very well. I got this bc I have a cat in kidney failure and I need to know his habits. Has been very useful for that. The unit itself is actually very compact considering the large size of the toileting area. I’ve had full service units before and usually they are just bulky awful sized units. Not so with this one. And I love that the litter capture is in the back of the unit. I feel like this unit sets the new standard for what auto litter boxes should be. This was actually worth every dime. I’m actually considering buying another one. ***** I wanted to add an addendum to my review that I have three of these now and I have had them for over a year and never had any issues. I also see a ton of people commenting that they have issues with using it for larger cats and I have a cat that is extremely large in stature and weighs about 20 pounds and he uses it with no issue. I have a wide variety of pets and there has been zero problems with using these units for any size cat. So I really don’t get the issue that other people are having. I can truly say these were a good investment because they still work perfectly after all this time. I have never had any other automatic litter box work for this long. I couldn’t imagine going away from these litter boxes at any juncture in time unless they come out with even greater improved model models that have more functionality.

I realize when I bought my Petkit Litter Box, I didn’t realize how small my cat is. She’s over a year old she’s still growing, but this step made a big difference and makes it so much easier for her to get in and out, and I love the feature of any cat litter goes right in between the step so you don’t have tracking of any form of waste of cat litter. Again bravo to PETKIT for their products I’m so appreciative that I found them love love love their products. I definitely recommend this item!

I really wanted to love this litter box. The self-cleaning feature is slick, the design is clean, and my cat took to it right away. Unfortunately, there’s a serious flaw: the waste bin is way too small, and the entry lip doesn’t account for cats that, shall we say.. are Garfield worthy. My cat walks in and barley fits to the point his butt is right at the edge, and every time he goes number two, his rear is just outside the entrance. The result? A surprise deposit just outside the machine—and not the kind you want to find with your bare foot in the morning. I have had to clean up so much cat shit with this litter box it’s awful. The smell, and the fecal matter gets pushed into the sphere resulting in a massive mess becoming an even worse one. If the waste chamber was larger and the design helped guide the cat deeper into the unit, this would be a win. But as it stands, I’m spending more time cleaning around the litter box than I did with a manual one. Great idea, poor execution. I’d share images but honestly it’s so graphic with the camera system recordings that I’d likely see this review rejected or worse my Amazon account banned.

We’ve had the PETKIT Purobot Ultra for about a month now, and overall I’m extremely happy with it. The engineering and build quality seem excellent, and it does a great job of automatically removing the waste, depositing it into the waste bag, sealing the bag, and letting you know when the bag needs to be emptied. In our three-cat household, the litter stays remarkably clean all the time, and the biggest benefit has been the odor control. The bathroom used to have that unmistakable litter-box smell, but since installing this machine, the odor is essentially gone. I also have the unit set to wait about seven minutes after a cat uses the box before it runs the cleaning cycle. My thinking is that this gives the waste a little more time to dry and hopefully reduces the amount of material that gets smeared onto the inside of the machine. So far, that seems like a reasonable approach. The app is another big plus because it keeps track of which cat is using the box and how frequently. That's particularly useful when you want to monitor an individual cat’s litter-box habits. The system appears to identify the cats using AI as well as weight, although two of ours happen to weigh about the same. There were a couple of things that made the transition more difficult than it needed to be. The camera on the unit rotates when a cat enters, and the first few times it did this, it really startled our cats. I ended up changing the camera setting so it stays pointed into the litter chamber rather than swinging around, and that solved the problem. I would strongly recommend doing that during the initial training period. Our large Maine Coon has always been extremely particular about his litter box. Whenever another cat uses it, he immediately goes in afterward to clean the litter box, just as he did with a conventional litter box. He continues to do that with this machine, and in the process he manages to kick some of the clean litter out onto the floor. It's a little messy, but at least it's clean litter, so it's certainly not a major problem. Our second cat is doing fine with the machine. The third cat—the one we were actually most interested in monitoring because of previous urinary issues—absolutely hates the thing. He does use it, but he’s still very reluctant, so we’re hoping he becomes more comfortable with it over time. There is also an occasional issue where the unit doesn't immediately recognize that a new waste bag has been installed; simply pressing the bag down with your fingers fixes it. Those are relatively minor issues, though. The bottom line is that this machine works extremely well, the litter stays exceptionally clean, the odor reduction is fantastic, and eliminating the daily scooping chore is worth every penny. I’m very glad I bought it and would definitely recommend it, especially for a multi-cat household.

After setting this new box up for my kitties, they immediately took interest to it. However, it wasn't until a week later, did they finally actually use the box. I have the PuraMax and they were used to it, but because this one has a front attachment for the camera, they were unsure of it at first. First thing, this box is huge. It's way bigger than the PuraMax, so make sure you measure and make space for it. I love the new AI camera monitoring feature as I have 3 cats and this gives me a peace of mind knowing I can monitor them more closely. The app is also really good at differentiating each cat's usage. There are so many different settings on the app to really customize your experience. The Purobot is definitely a huge upgrade from the previous models. The one thing that concerned me before was the way the drum rotates. This one rotates sideways so there are no closing doors or anything that can potential harm my cats. There's also a "kitten" mode in the app settings in case you have kittens to protect their safety. The new odor control is an added bonus. I clean their boxes frequently so this was never an issue to begin with. The completely sealed door where the waste goes is totally sealed when not in use so it really does eliminate any odors. Another added bonus is the heat sealed waste bag when you need to dump the waste. There's two different attachments that come with this unit depending on what type of litter you use. I use Dr Elsey's litter and didn't have to switch litters which made this transition easier. This also has the option to use tofu litter, you'll just use a different sifter for the drum. There is an optional monthly service to save video content and additional features, but it can be used without it. Really happy with this new box.

Sadly, this incredible technological marvel did not work for us. We have three cats, two of whom are mid-sized kittens and one average-to-large-sized elderly 14-year-old Tuxie. The kittens fit fine, of course, but the 14-year-old had two accidents where he faced the inside of the litter chamber with his hindquarters sticking out, and he urinated all over the floor. It is actually shocking to me that the chamber is so shallow as not to accommodate a larger cat! Given the cost of this machine and the fact that my big boy is really rather average-sized, you would think this would have been addressed. We bought this automatic litter box for him, because he gets very fussy if his litter isn't pristine. He will often pee or poop outside of the box if the cleanliness of the litter is not to his liking, so naturally, the self-cleaning feature is a huge plus! The app, the self-cleaning mechanism itself, and the rings were super easy to use, and the quality is top-notch. I can't begin to describe my disappointment. The fact that I was willing to pay this much money for a litter box should be telling in itself. Our oldest has also had a history of urinary crystals, so I was really excited to have a way to monitor his urination and to track the other cats' habits, as well. The first thing the vet will ask us is if they are pooping and peeing ok, and with multiple cats using a conventional litter, how would we know? This technology enables cat owners to track all of their cats' elimination habits and also the cats' weight. If the design is ever improved to accommodate a larger (albeit average-sized) cat, I would totally try this again.

Perfect for small cats! I have a short-legged Minuet/Napoleon kitten, and it’s the perfect size for him. He loves using it, and it does an excellent job of keeping litter contained instead of spilling all over the floor. Highly recommend!
