  • Great product!!!
Set name: Max
We purchased other litter systems from PetCove before, and had one that was defective. Their customer service was outstanding at replacing it without question. So when it was time to upgrade after getting additional kitties, we really wanted to stay with PetCove. The cats LOVE the open design of this system. Pros 1. The open design makes it super easy to clean 2. This system is really quiet 3. The bottom tray is so much better than the top fit bag that the enclosed design used. 4. I love that the step helps catch litter from their feet and some that might spill out when the cats dig 5. The app is excellent. You get great data on use, and are able to run and troubleshoot the box Items of note (not all cons - but worth knowing) 1. Regular 13 gallon garbage bags (especially those made to “flex”) work better than the PetCove ones. Not only are they cheaper, but they also hold in the odor better. 2. If the back of the litter box is too close to the wall, the sensor will think it detects that a cat is approaching. If the machine is cleaning, it will pause and the cats will be unable to use it until you fix it. ... show more

  • Updated- Not easy to understand if this is your 1st auto litter box: updated to 5 stars
Set name: Regular
3 days in and will update again in a couple of weeks! Super excited when this arrived at my home and right away ran into an issues . Before I even unboxed I scanned the bar code on outside of box that brought me to a blank page. Then after opening I scanned 2 more bar codes that were suppose to bring me to the pet cove app, they too directed me to a blank page. I then scanned the code on the litter box itself that only brought me to the pet cove store site. Annoyed I didn't see any real directions on set up I searched on my Google play store for purrtek and no exact match so then searched pet cove and after scrolling down I found an app. Once installed the app I spent the next 2 hours configuring my wifi so that I could have 2.4 on my phone and to connect the litter box. The app is not helpful in the sense of helping with set up or how to use. It identifies the buttons on box but no explanation of what each button actually telling you what it's use is for. For example the infrared sensor detection is by default off- does this mean it needs to be on to detect my cat? I have no idea but I always want the box to detect my cat to insure my cats safety so why would it be off..ever? I also have no idea on how to use the cleaning cycles, like if I have it set to clean every hour will it only clean every hour and not after my cat uses it or will it detect that my cat is in there if in the box 😳? Same with clumping feature, I have no idea how long it should clump for. I also don't know if there is a way to have the app set for multi cat weights and my cats have similar weights but the app varies a tiny bit as it's not exact when I see my one cat go in 3 times in the matter of a couple of minutes the weight slightly changes and I don't know if both are using it. There are no instructions on how to disassemble to clean or how to get the litter inside so I made the mistake of just pouring into small opening so I spilled a ton onto floor and now I pour into a cup and pour into box that way but that can't be how it's done so I'm either a little behind technically or this could use some improvements but instructions with more explanation of how to use would be helpful to know how to properly use the machine. As far as as changing the bag it is simple and main function of the box is good. I haven't smelled anything which is quite impressive as my cats have the stinkiest poops ever. Will update soon! UPDATE, AS PROMISED Have now had the litter box a couple of weeks and have worked out some of the issues on my own by playing around with it. I figured out how to take the drum out to fill litter and clean out. There is a latch on back that isn't as obvious as one would think at least not to me. Customer service is super important when making a large purchase or really any purchase and I was contacted very soon after my initial review letting me know that they will gladly help me to understand the machine so that I can use it correctly and to it's potential therefore making my life easier which is why I purchased. I was kind of annoyed because I felt like I was being told that if I wanted help with the problems I put in my review then I needed to ask which to me was pretty clear that if you know the issues I'm having then yes please send me the guides I need BUT in the last response I was informed that was Amazon's policy that I can contact the seller but the seller needed to take certain steps to reach me to not violate policy through Amazon! Anyways PetCove has been very responsive and has even refunded the purchase in hopes that I will continue to use the product that they are confident in and hope that I can spread the word. In all sincerity I actually am liking the auto litter box. It's pretty basic, not complex and does exactly what it is supposed to do! I just wish it came with clear instructions or any instructions! Customer service is top notch! Product is very good! ... show more

  • So far so good
Set name: Regular
I got this around the holiday season. I have not had it for long but it works well. I previously had the litter robot 3. I hated the litter robot. It had so many issues that are aggravating and made it gross. This device is much easier however there are some improvements that would make my life easier. If it could tell me that the bag is full, that would be great. The litter robot tells you it's full and will no longer cycle. This device will keep running despite it being full. You have to remind yourself or put reminders in your calendar to check it. Also, removing the majority of notifications would be nice. I find that the app has way more features than the litter robot app but it falls short on picking which notifications you want to receive. It will notify you that your cat used the machine, left the machine, the machine rotated and self cleaned, then that it deodorized. I don't need 4 notifications each time my cat uses the litter box. Honestly just one or 2 notifications that the bag is about to be full would be nice. Besides that, for the price, this thing is great. It has less errors than the litter robot. I like that the bag is easier to access than the litter robot and easier to replace. Update: The last few months have been a major headache. I cleaned the barrel of this thing a few times which is very difficult and has taken me the better part of about 2 hours to hose it down in the yard and get all of the crud out. With that said, the compartment where the "clean" litter collects is impossible to clean as it is not accessible. During the cleaning process the barrel rotates and the dirty litter rolls around the inside until it goes inside of the bag. At least once or twice in between bag swaps, a turd or lump of dirty litter falls out of the barrel. This requires me to handle poop or dirty litter which defeats the purpose of the device. The most recent few months, it smells really bad. I have cleaned the interior, replaced the litter, cleaned the barrel and all. It seems somehow the urine from the cats seeps below the barrel into the base of the machine. I don't really understand how that is happening. This is something that never happened with the litter robot after owning it for 4 years. I removed the barrel today and discovered a puddle of dirty urine at the base as well as on the floor. This took an excessive amount of time to clean this morning as opposed to the normal routine of replacing the bag, clearing litter crumbs and dust, and adding more litter. I had to empty the barrel, clean the inside of the barrel, pull the barrel off the base, clean the bottom of the base, underneath it, the floor, sweep and mop the entire area. This is the third time going through that. I should not have to spend 30-45 minutes cleaning this litter box every few times I need to replace the bag. I am probably going to buy a traditional litter box and scoop daily as it is easier to spend a few minutes doing that rather then losing my morning to cleaning this train wreck device. ... show more

  • Great Automatic Box; Works As Expected
Set name: Regular
I've had this automatic litter box for about 7 months. The lifetime warranty was one of the primary reasons I decided I would purchase this one. The affordable price (compared to some other top of the line brands) was the second reason. One of my cats was diagnosed with diabetes and had much increased urination, and that's why I decided to add another box to the house (and give the pet cove a try). This is my first automatic box. Without getting in crazy detail, I worked as a professional pet sitter for 15+ years and had heard about some problems with the litter robot brand. Particularly the waste box would fill and block itself causing you to have to shift things or empty it earlier than you should have to. There are three cats and two litter boxes in my house at the moment (because I have an extremely small house). I have this and one regular box. This box works the way that it should, and I appreciate that it does what's expected and gives my cats a clean place to go potty for about a week before I have to do a good cleaning. It has controls for emptying, deodorizing, cleaning, and other things like litter levels. It will automatically stop if your cat steps in it while its running, and it will tell you the amount of waste your cat produced weight-wise. As long as your cats are not suffering with diarrhea, it will keep a fairly clean environment inside, but it does need a good wipe down (or washing) at least once a week for us cleanly people, lol. It advises against harsh cleaners, so I have found success with using baby wipes for wiping down all the walls inside. Personally, when I finish with that, I will gently spray the inside with some aerosol lysol to kill germs. If one of your cats tummy is upset and they have diarrhea, or if you wait more than a week to wipe it out, it will be much more gross experience, lol. A weekly check/maintenance is advised (or more for diarrhea). A traditional litter box will do much better for cats experiencing that problem. But, if no one has diarrhea, and I wipe it down and empty it weekly, that seems to work pretty well for me. I do wish that washing out the inside (or diassembling) was a little bit easier. The primary reason that it's a little more difficult is because there's not a good outlet to dump the water out after you clean it. Water enters and dumps out best from the front hole (where they go in), but I wish that the plastic pieces on the back side actually came completely off - so that you could run water into the front (or back) and have the dirty water run out the other side. Instead, you need run water into the front, wash, and then swirl it around and dump it back out the front too. If you regularly wipe it out like I mentioned though, water washings will be necessary MUCH less often. Weekly wipes and emptying, with as needed litter additions, is the lowest maintenance cleanly method I have found so far. While I would say doing a thorough cleaning at the end of the week takes me just as long as a traditional box, I still think it's worth the money because it gives my cats clean environment to use all the time. And I have the security of knowing that it's protected by a lifetime warranty in case something goes wrong. I feel that is significant for any purchase that is hundreds of dollars. 😁 I would buy it again! ... show more

  • Easy setup and odor free
Set name: 3 Rolls Bundle
Update Review: So after having this for a few weeks, I still like the litter box but wish it could open to better clean it. It does wipe down easily, but you have to reach in to do it and if your cat has had runny stool at all, it can get quite messy inside. The whole circular portion comes off the stand so you can take it to a sink or a hose but it was difficult to get all the litter out and difficult to fully clean all areas. The instructions advise you to wear gloves to pull out the portion that holds the litter due to sharp edges, I was not able to get it out yet but will try again with different gloves. Instructions also advise to use a vacuum to get the remaining litter out, but my handheld one didn't quite fit well enough and I struggled to get all the litter entirely out. Once that was done, I did wipe it and washed the interior with soap and water before air drying. All that being said, my two kittens do use it regularly and I find that the bag typically needs replaced about every 6-7 days. The machine will say Full and the buttons are all easy to read/use. The alerts are pretty great as well. I will be traveling soon and I am glad to be able to see when it is used, when a cleaning is performed etc. The odor is obvious during cleaning and for a little while after its used, but overall it does a pretty good job reducing the odor. I still add an odor remover to the litter to help with the smell. It is also important to find the right litter for this- you want clumping, but some litters have been better than others so far. In my experience, The "Worlds best" was messier than the "Almo Natural", but is better at odor reduction... I am still trying other litters to better compare. Additionally- The machine is not exactly noisy, but my dogs certainly take notice every time it runs in a back room. It sounds a little clickety/clunky when running and it moves slow for safety. Immediate review: It's only been a day, but so far so good. The order arrived very quickly (next day in fact) and it was already put together- including the first waste bag. Guidance was very easy to follow (and easy to find- they include an app with video + steps and guide are also shown on the litterbox itself). I have 2 new kittens, and 1 of them has immediately begun using this, the 2nd is a little cautious but they are watching it and I think both will be using it in no time. I am currently using a nautural clumping litter that seems to work just fine with it. We do not notice any bad odor with this litter box, while the open litter box we had was quite pungent in spite of daily cleaning. I will post updates after using for longer period, but so far I am very impressed. The only thing I would change so far is the bags- I would prefer eco-friendly/ biodegradable bag options- and the litter box color option. ... show more

  • Best Litter Machine
Set name: Regular
Okay, I have had this since July 2024, so I feel qualified to write a review for this cat box. Pros: •100/10 customer service. I was having an issue with the lid of my machine, the hinges snapped somehow (probably my cats always standing and jumping on it :/), and I had to email asking if they could help replace the broken part. They replaced my entire machine for free, and were insanely kind about it too. •Noise is near non-existent. Only when the box is full do I hear a whine, if at all. I don’t get woken up by beeping or squeaking, nothing. •No App Required for functional use. The app it comes with is helpful, but not necessary for the machine to work perfectly on its own. This feature is best if you want to keep track of your pets’ and their movements and set-time cleans. But I find that the machine automatically cleans anyway, usually 2-3 minutes after my cat leaves the box. •Pressure Sensitivity. I know people are worried about their cats getting injured if an automatic litter box moves with the cat still in there, but this thing is so sensitive, it’ll register any pressure as a cat inside and freezes automatically. Cons: •honestly not many, primary one being the rubber collection mat in the bottom where the litter sits. It comes off kind of easily, and my cats are dumb and scratch the rubber of the mat inside instead of the actual litter in the bottom. They scratch it up so bad that sometimes stuff leaks through the scratches into the bottom. HOWEVER, the hard plastic shell of the whole box is enough to contain any extra spillage, and is super easily cleaned. All in all, this is the best purchase I’ve made in a few years, and if you’re considering buying ANY litter machines, this one is the best quality for the price. I researched a ton on here, and was tempted to go with a popular name brand but they’re so expensive and I’ve heard adverse things about the machine, and I’m so glad I went with this one. ... show more

  • Excellent Litter Box - Especially at this Price Point Excellent Litter Box - Especially at this Price Point
Set name: Regular
This is my third automatic litter box and second from PetCove. This one is by far the best and is even better than the more expensive one I owned (and the one my daughter currently owns). Cleaning is a breeze with this. Whether it's changing the bag or performing a complete litter change. It works perfectly. There have been no odor issues and no malfunctions with waste removal (you don't want that). Plus my cat seems to love it as well. He is fascinated each time it goes through the cleaning cycle. Having now used automatic litter boxes for six months, I do have some tips. 1. First and most importantly, use a good clumping litter with odor control. 2. The drum is easily removed by lifting the arm on the back top of the unit. I sometimes remove the drum during a complete litter change for further cleaning. (See my attached picture). 3. Before initial set up, there are two pieces of tape that need to be removed from inside the drum. 4. On initial pairing, the manual states to push button one. But button one is not identified until later in the manual. (It's the first button on the left). 5. When replacing the waste bag, ensure that it is under the bottom tabs & lip and pulled tight. 6. I use 20x18 replacement waste bags. I very highly recommend this litter box. As I mentioned at the top of this review, changing out the waste bag is easy, switching out the entire litter is fast and simple and odor is controlled. (I've actually had zero odor with this newer unit using a good clumping litter from a warehouse store). (My issue with the first PetCove litter box was with cleaning the unit after a complete litter change. The instructions did not clearly explain how to remove the filter for cleaning behind it. The new manual does - and it's very easy to do). ... show more

  • Cleaning time is horrendous
Set name: Regular
I have owned this for about a month and a half now and feel confident I can write a review on it. I rated this three stars for the following reasons ... 1. Sturdy construction 2. Auto cleaning feature 3. Wifi and app capability - I can run a clean cycle from work with the app if necessary which is kind of nice. 4. Easy setup - from the box to plug in was less than ten minutes. 5. Deodorizer is a nice feature and works well. However there are things about this litter box that have left a sour taste in my mouth ... 1. The inner design could have been a little more thought out, while the rolling barrel concept may have thought to have been a good idea at the time , there are too many nooks an cranny's for litter to get caught up in when it rolls which makes cleaning time a nightmare ... more on this down the list. 2. The litter pan is made of a rubber material, had it been stretched tight at the factory this may have been a good idea , when I unpacked mine the litter pan had wrinkles in it , again , making for a nightmare to clean , especially when the litter cakes from urine. I have tried most all the clumping litters and have yet to find one that doesn't cake up when cats urine, this makes it stick to the litter pan and again ... makes for a cleaning nightmare. It seems they could have engineered the litter pan with a sort of Teflon polymer that things don't stick to. 3. The litter pan is not removable for cleaning , they say it is but after looking at the instructions have found no feasible way to remove it. 4. Cleaning time , after going from a conventional litter box having to scoop the litter the cleaning time would take me maybe 15 minutes at most, cinch the bag , throw out the old , rinse, sterilize and dry the box, add new bag and litter, job done. With this box you can plan on spending upwards of an hour emptying and cleaning this litter box despite what the videos and instructions say. I am convinced the people they use in their promotional video's are paid to do so. Between the caked litter that must be scraped out from the rubber litter pan , some of it will get caked on the inside of the barrel when it rolls when doing a self clean after the cat finishes it's business , you can also expect "skid marks" on the inside of the barrel also. With my old litter box I was able to scoop daily and clean the litter box completely once a week, with this litter box you need to do a complete cleaning more than once a week, more so if you have multiple cats , so add the cost of extra litter. Now I guess you can take it outside and power wash it with a hose but you're still gonna spend some time cleaning this. Living in an apartment I don't have that luxury so it gets done in my sink or tub , tub works better, sink causes an extra added mess, however be careful not to let too much litter go down your drain as this could cause a whole other problem. You will have to spend time spraying down and scrubbing the entire inside of the barrel , rinsing multiple times, then try and remove whatever loose litter was left inside the barrel after emptying, when that's done wash with soap and water , rinse multiple times again. Then you have to make sure the inside of the barrel is bone dry before use, any water left in it will cause your litter to cake. I have seen videos where some recommend spraying the litter pan with pam cooking spray and adding a thin layer of baking soda before adding clean litter after cleaning, well, it helps a little but not all that much. The storage capacity of the collection bags are ok but you still need to remove and add a new bag a couple of times a week , if you have multiple cats, probably more. It just seems to me the inner design of this litter box could have been thought out more thoroughly , what time you save in time from scooping your conventional litter box you will more than make up in cleaning this litter box ... smells included. I purchased this litter box on sale, about $40 less then what it normally goes for, I guess if I paid full price for it I would be highly disappointed but even so , what I did pay for it really was not worth the price as I am now spending more time just cleaning the thing when I could have just purchased a conventional litter box for twenty bucks. ... show more
