3 days in and will update again in a couple of weeks! Super excited when this arrived at my home and right away ran into an issues . Before I even unboxed I scanned the bar code on outside of box that brought me to a blank page. Then after opening I scanned 2 more bar codes that were suppose to bring me to the pet cove app, they too directed me to a blank page. I then scanned the code on the litter box itself that only brought me to the pet cove store site. Annoyed I didn't see any real directions on set up I searched on my Google play store for purrtek and no exact match so then searched pet cove and after scrolling down I found an app. Once installed the app I spent the next 2 hours configuring my wifi so that I could have 2.4 on my phone and to connect the litter box. The app is not helpful in the sense of helping with set up or how to use. It identifies the buttons on box but no explanation of what each button actually telling you what it's use is for. For example the infrared sensor detection is by default off- does this mean it needs to be on to detect my cat? I have no idea but I always want the box to detect my cat to insure my cats safety so why would it be off..ever? I also have no idea on how to use the cleaning cycles, like if I have it set to clean every hour will it only clean every hour and not after my cat uses it or will it detect that my cat is in there if in the box 😳? Same with clumping feature, I have no idea how long it should clump for. I also don't know if there is a way to have the app set for multi cat weights and my cats have similar weights but the app varies a tiny bit as it's not exact when I see my one cat go in 3 times in the matter of a couple of minutes the weight slightly changes and I don't know if both are using it. There are no instructions on how to disassemble to clean or how to get the litter inside so I made the mistake of just pouring into small opening so I spilled a ton onto floor and now I pour into a cup and pour into box that way but that can't be how it's done so I'm either a little behind technically or this could use some improvements but instructions with more explanation of how to use would be helpful to know how to properly use the machine. As far as as changing the bag it is simple and main function of the box is good. I haven't smelled anything which is quite impressive as my cats have the stinkiest poops ever. Will update soon! UPDATE, AS PROMISED Have now had the litter box a couple of weeks and have worked out some of the issues on my own by playing around with it. I figured out how to take the drum out to fill litter and clean out. There is a latch on back that isn't as obvious as one would think at least not to me. Customer service is super important when making a large purchase or really any purchase and I was contacted very soon after my initial review letting me know that they will gladly help me to understand the machine so that I can use it correctly and to it's potential therefore making my life easier which is why I purchased. I was kind of annoyed because I felt like I was being told that if I wanted help with the problems I put in my review then I needed to ask which to me was pretty clear that if you know the issues I'm having then yes please send me the guides I need BUT in the last response I was informed that was Amazon's policy that I can contact the seller but the seller needed to take certain steps to reach me to not violate policy through Amazon! Anyways PetCove has been very responsive and has even refunded the purchase in hopes that I will continue to use the product that they are confident in and hope that I can spread the word. In all sincerity I actually am liking the auto litter box. It's pretty basic, not complex and does exactly what it is supposed to do! I just wish it came with clear instructions or any instructions! After watching the Litter Robot climb in price to nearly $900 for the model I wanted, I was skeptical that this one would be satisfactory, but it's perfect for the money and works like a charm. Best of all it doesn't require the space that litter robot does. It's well made and easy to u se. NOTE: you don't need the more expensive lightweight litter for this; regular weight is recommended so make sure you have that on hand. The setup was super easy; it comes assembled so you plug it in, follow the wifi instructions, set the timer and you're in business. The inside of the unit is small which had me concerned because my cat is quite large. He was also graduating from an uncovered to a covered box and it's a bit cramped, but he readily adapted. It took about 10 days for him to actually use it and this is something you need to prepare for. Unlike others who recommend placing it next to the the litter box your cat is accustomed to, I took a different approach. I set it at the other end of the house where my cat likes to hang out next to the slider, hoping he would investigate. I did place him inside of it once to introduce him and then walked away. The neat thing about the wifi feature is that it reports to you when your cat approaches so I knew he was eyeballing it. After 3 days without him entering, I decided to remove the grated attachment that snaps into the opening and gives the cat less room and, in my opinion, makes it harder to enter and exit. After a few more days of him investigating, he is a bonafide regular user and quit his other litter box entirely. This thing works so well! I can't tell you how much I love the no-more-scooping, the tidiness, AND, there is no odor whatsoever. None. Best investment I've ever made and I am so pleased. On top of that, it runs so quietly. The unit is designed to operate slowly and quietly so as not to scare your cat. Just set the cleaning timer to 10 or 15 minutes in case your cat needs re-enter within a minute or two - cats sometimes do that. If you're like me and you can't justify $900 for a fancy Litter Robot, don't be sad - this is a better deal for the money and it works so well.

Overall a great product. Pros: it’s very quiet and does not rotate when the cats are in the box, the cats are not afraid of the machine, it makes cleaning the litter box less frequent Cons: every time the machine cleans it dumps some outside of the litter box, the bag that collects the debris does not seal so the smell is evident at times, the bag itself leaks litter box smells, it’s a big upfront cost and this particular model does not work well for larger cats. My cat is not fat but he has a very long body and so he has to have his head stick out of the litter box because his body can’t fit fully in inside the litter box.

I got this around the holiday season. I have not had it for long but it works well. I previously had the litter robot 3. I hated the litter robot. It had so many issues that are aggravating and made it gross. This device is much easier however there are some improvements that would make my life easier. If it could tell me that the bag is full, that would be great. The litter robot tells you it's full and will no longer cycle. This device will keep running despite it being full. You have to remind yourself or put reminders in your calendar to check it. Also, removing the majority of notifications would be nice. I find that the app has way more features than the litter robot app but it falls short on picking which notifications you want to receive. It will notify you that your cat used the machine, left the machine, the machine rotated and self cleaned, then that it deodorized. I don't need 4 notifications each time my cat uses the litter box. Honestly just one or 2 notifications that the bag is about to be full would be nice. Besides that, for the price, this thing is great. It has less errors than the litter robot. I like that the bag is easier to access than the litter robot and easier to replace. Update: The last few months have been a major headache. I cleaned the barrel of this thing a few times which is very difficult and has taken me the better part of about 2 hours to hose it down in the yard and get all of the crud out. With that said, the compartment where the "clean" litter collects is impossible to clean as it is not accessible. During the cleaning process the barrel rotates and the dirty litter rolls around the inside until it goes inside of the bag. At least once or twice in between bag swaps, a turd or lump of dirty litter falls out of the barrel. This requires me to handle poop or dirty litter which defeats the purpose of the device. The most recent few months, it smells really bad. I have cleaned the interior, replaced the litter, cleaned the barrel and all. It seems somehow the urine from the cats seeps below the barrel into the base of the machine. I don't really understand how that is happening. This is something that never happened with the litter robot after owning it for 4 years. I removed the barrel today and discovered a puddle of dirty urine at the base as well as on the floor. This took an excessive amount of time to clean this morning as opposed to the normal routine of replacing the bag, clearing litter crumbs and dust, and adding more litter. I had to empty the barrel, clean the inside of the barrel, pull the barrel off the base, clean the bottom of the base, underneath it, the floor, sweep and mop the entire area. This is the third time going through that. I should not have to spend 30-45 minutes cleaning this litter box every few times I need to replace the bag. I am probably going to buy a traditional litter box and scoop daily as it is easier to spend a few minutes doing that rather then losing my morning to cleaning this train wreck device.

I really like the Petcove Purrtek litter box overall. It is not noisy, which is a huge plus, and it has made managing the litter box much easier with our two kittens. We usually need to change the bag about every 2–3 days. The main downside is that poop can sometimes smear on the inside, so it does need to be cleaned manually every so often. There are also times when it has an odor, although it is not constant. Other than those maintenance issues, it has been great and I am happy with it.

We’ve been using this automatic litter box for 1.5 years now and in the beginning it was great! The kittens started using it from day one and seemed to adapt very quickly to the concept of an automatic -moving- litter box. The automatic cleaning cycle cleans up after them conveniently and the app allows you to track a lot of data (like when they used it, their weight,…) It starts to get problematic when you have larger cats or more than one cat. Being a confined area one of our cats would only pee „backwards“ (tail pointing out of the opening) which meant he was always peeing on the same spot. Since this machine doesn’t have a pre cleaning cycle, all the pee would get stuck to the base mat in a large lump, creating a stinky situation. Also pee would regularly go under the base mat, increasing the obnoxious kitty pee smell. For the same reason poop would easily smear the walls leading to an unpleasant odor. Also the fact that the garbage bag sits on top of the machine doesn’t help with the smell either. Unless you’re having a garden hose, cleaning the machine isn’t super easy. Trying to scrub it manually will have you elbow deep in kitty feces, since the rotating cylinder can’t be disassembled for cleaning and it’s hard to get everything clean. After 1.5 years, I would NOT buy it again, especially not for $350+!

UPDATE SEP 1 2025: The original device I had received had an issue related to the design and assembly. I reached out to Petcove support and they were QUICK and EXTREMELY HELPFUL! The device was under warranty, as stated when purchased, so they shipped me a brand new device to resolve the issue I had with my original model. They even sent me the updated model!!! I have had no issues with the litter box since that communication. The litter box is low maintenance and simple in design. My cats love it. Love this litterbox and will certainly be a Petcove customer for a long time ☺️😸 This litterbox is very nifty. I have crystal litter now and it is working great! The wifi setup was simple and the app just okay. It's not very easy to understand (at least to me) and it default sends you a million notifications (i have 2 cats) every time a cat uses it, after it cleans, when it deodorizes, etc. I'm sure I can fix it somewhere but it's not straightforward. My cats to right to this new box with no conversion time. I used the same litter as the old box. They seemed to use it a lot day 1 (which I can tell in the app) out of curiosity I believe. Anyways, the design is neat. After the cat has gone and time has passed for it to clump, the entire drum rotates slowly counter clockwise. At the 7 o'clock location is a sifter "pocket". As the drum turns, the loose unclumped liter passes through the slots and into the retention pocket to be returned back to the pan. All clipped matter will stay outside of the sifter and continue rolling with the drum. After about 140 degrees of rotation, the waste pocket (normally located at the 12 o'clock position) approaches the base of the box, and clipped matter begins to fall in. After 180 degrees of rotation, the drum stops, and begins to rotates clockwise slowly. Any clumped matter that did not go into the bag will roll into the bag at this time. When the drum approaches the home position again, but now clockwise, it will advance past the 7 o'clock position, causing the retained litter to exit the sifter pocket. The drum then performs a series of clock and counterclockwise rotations to level out the litter for the next use. I will update this review as I continue to use it, and after I have to empty/clean it.
