We ~some how~ adopted these three little cats that are brothers and then we realized WE HAVE THREE LITTLE GUYS NON STOP POOPING haha. After a month of having a bunch of litter boxes I went on a deep dive into automatic litter boxes. I decided to invest the money into this brand because of the reviews on the amazing customer service. After a quick and easy set up I watched how the machine was able to efficiently clean the litter and I am amazed by the simple design that works so well! It’s sturdy and easy to use. I have learned a few things through a couple months of use. First, I have found that non clumping litter works the best. When I tried clumping it would bang around in there and pop off the little sifting door. No stress though it popped right back on and has been easy to clean. I take it outside and use dish soap and the hose to wash out the entire machine. So then I tried the pellets- that did not go well at all. They were everywhere. So I have gone back to non clumping and I have no issues. The cats have no problem fitting in there. They are able to have plenty of space to do their business and cover up without throwing litter everywhere. It’s quiet and has been an amazing value. I wish I could buy a back up drum to have one to install while I deep clean the first. Obviously if you do not clean the container and change the bag every couple of days (4 cats in the home) you are going to have a smell after some time. I wash the drum about every 3 weeks to be sure there is no smell. But no matter what box you have you will have to clean it so there will never be NO WORK. However I am not sifting litter multiple times a day and my cats are happy. I am beyond happy with my purchase.

This is my third automatic litter box and second from PetCove. This one is by far the best and is even better than the more expensive one I owned (and the one my daughter currently owns). Cleaning is a breeze with this. Whether it's changing the bag or performing a complete litter change. It works perfectly. There have been no odor issues and no malfunctions with waste removal (you don't want that). Plus my cat seems to love it as well. He is fascinated each time it goes through the cleaning cycle. Having now used automatic litter boxes for six months, I do have some tips. 1. First and most importantly, use a good clumping litter with odor control. 2. The drum is easily removed by lifting the arm on the back top of the unit. I sometimes remove the drum during a complete litter change for further cleaning. (See my attached picture). 3. Before initial set up, there are two pieces of tape that need to be removed from inside the drum. 4. On initial pairing, the manual states to push button one. But button one is not identified until later in the manual. (It's the first button on the left). 5. When replacing the waste bag, ensure that it is under the bottom tabs & lip and pulled tight. 6. I use 20x18 replacement waste bags. I very highly recommend this litter box. As I mentioned at the top of this review, changing out the waste bag is easy, switching out the entire litter is fast and simple and odor is controlled. (I've actually had zero odor with this newer unit using a good clumping litter from a warehouse store). (My issue with the first PetCove litter box was with cleaning the unit after a complete litter change. The instructions did not clearly explain how to remove the filter for cleaning behind it. The new manual does - and it's very easy to do).

I've had this automatic litter box for about 7 months. The lifetime warranty was one of the primary reasons I decided I would purchase this one. The affordable price (compared to some other top of the line brands) was the second reason. One of my cats was diagnosed with diabetes and had much increased urination, and that's why I decided to add another box to the house (and give the pet cove a try). This is my first automatic box. Without getting in crazy detail, I worked as a professional pet sitter for 15+ years and had heard about some problems with the litter robot brand. Particularly the waste box would fill and block itself causing you to have to shift things or empty it earlier than you should have to. There are three cats and two litter boxes in my house at the moment (because I have an extremely small house). I have this and one regular box. This box works the way that it should, and I appreciate that it does what's expected and gives my cats a clean place to go potty for about a week before I have to do a good cleaning. It has controls for emptying, deodorizing, cleaning, and other things like litter levels. It will automatically stop if your cat steps in it while its running, and it will tell you the amount of waste your cat produced weight-wise. As long as your cats are not suffering with diarrhea, it will keep a fairly clean environment inside, but it does need a good wipe down (or washing) at least once a week for us cleanly people, lol. It advises against harsh cleaners, so I have found success with using baby wipes for wiping down all the walls inside. Personally, when I finish with that, I will gently spray the inside with some aerosol lysol to kill germs. If one of your cats tummy is upset and they have diarrhea, or if you wait more than a week to wipe it out, it will be much more gross experience, lol. A weekly check/maintenance is advised (or more for diarrhea). A traditional litter box will do much better for cats experiencing that problem. But, if no one has diarrhea, and I wipe it down and empty it weekly, that seems to work pretty well for me. I do wish that washing out the inside (or diassembling) was a little bit easier. The primary reason that it's a little more difficult is because there's not a good outlet to dump the water out after you clean it. Water enters and dumps out best from the front hole (where they go in), but I wish that the plastic pieces on the back side actually came completely off - so that you could run water into the front (or back) and have the dirty water run out the other side. Instead, you need run water into the front, wash, and then swirl it around and dump it back out the front too. If you regularly wipe it out like I mentioned though, water washings will be necessary MUCH less often. Weekly wipes and emptying, with as needed litter additions, is the lowest maintenance cleanly method I have found so far. While I would say doing a thorough cleaning at the end of the week takes me just as long as a traditional box, I still think it's worth the money because it gives my cats clean environment to use all the time. And I have the security of knowing that it's protected by a lifetime warranty in case something goes wrong. I feel that is significant for any purchase that is hundreds of dollars. 😁 I would buy it again!

I got this to lower the amount of time I spent in front of a litter box with a bad back, after 6 months I officially think I am switching to either a different automatic box or just a regular litter box. Set up was easy. So far so good. Then it starts to get irritating. Every litter seems to stick to the bottom silicone that holds the scent of urine no matter what you do. Even the litters designed to not stick (Arm and Hammer Slide seemed to even stick more than others). So already you might be in front of your litter box every day to unstuck the slumped urine from the sides and bottom. This also gets worse through time as it is not designed to be scooped so using a cat scoop will scratch into the silicone mat causing a nice rough surface for more to stick to. Then the little grate that separates the dirty clumps from the clean litter comes off. All. The. Time. My cats while covering their business are able to pop the grate off like nothing, also goes for the little step at the front. Which doesnt even need help to come off. Now I am at the cat box twice a day managing the automatic cat box. Fine, still it helps with managing the smells a decent bit better than a regular box and I dont have to pick up the whole box to empty it.... Until its time to clean the barrel. Who designed this darn thing to not drain water at all? In the beginning its new and its not too bad to rinse it out and replace it, it takes all day to dry on its own with regular rotations so you might as well pull out the paper towels to help it along. As it ages the cat urine smell seems into the plastic and you have to reach in to scrub all these weird angles, likely having parts of your arms push up against nasty cat barrel toilet as you reach in. Then as your back creeks in pain you turn the barrel a little and it catches on sorifice. and it breaks the little flap that closes the litter bag off from wafting smell out. Small bit of plastic hinge and now you are exploring a million ways to replicate or repair a nasty bit of plastic. Now its time to replace the silicone bottom, comes out easy enough, but at 6 months of potty sticking to it and needing to be scraped away has made it impossible to get completely clean and let me tell you.... you will have to touch it a good bit to get it back into place, but with rubber gloves on its is almost impossible to do so, so you switch your gloves to disposables so you can work the impossible mat back into place and drips of dirty cat litter come down upon you from hidden orifices. So much fun! Now that you can barely move you can go back to the main unit and vacuum all of the litter that has escaped through the week and then replace it and fill it with litter. I recommend keeping it powered off for the day as you probably didnt get it all the way dry and you cant visually access the area where the litter separates and goes into... and since the grate comes off all the time it is probably the nastiest area ever imagined. Long story short, this box is not the one. It doesnt save you time cleaning up a box daily, short term it helps with smells but long term it harbors them more than any cheap plastic box is capable of, and the amount of time you spend cleaning out the entire barrel is insane. Let the dang thing come apart in halves or something, have the back come off so you can drain it... idk. Evil. This box is evil. Oh, Amazon wants noise level too! From about week 3 on it makes a horrible grinding motor dying sound. You assume litter got somewhere it shouldn't habe an invest in a nice strong little handheld vacuum to keep by the box, but eventually you will give up, because no matter how immaculately clean you keep out side the box the sound will just keep getting worse!

3 days in and will update again in a couple of weeks! Super excited when this arrived at my home and right away ran into an issues . Before I even unboxed I scanned the bar code on outside of box that brought me to a blank page. Then after opening I scanned 2 more bar codes that were suppose to bring me to the pet cove app, they too directed me to a blank page. I then scanned the code on the litter box itself that only brought me to the pet cove store site. Annoyed I didn't see any real directions on set up I searched on my Google play store for purrtek and no exact match so then searched pet cove and after scrolling down I found an app. Once installed the app I spent the next 2 hours configuring my wifi so that I could have 2.4 on my phone and to connect the litter box. The app is not helpful in the sense of helping with set up or how to use. It identifies the buttons on box but no explanation of what each button actually telling you what it's use is for. For example the infrared sensor detection is by default off- does this mean it needs to be on to detect my cat? I have no idea but I always want the box to detect my cat to insure my cats safety so why would it be off..ever? I also have no idea on how to use the cleaning cycles, like if I have it set to clean every hour will it only clean every hour and not after my cat uses it or will it detect that my cat is in there if in the box 😳? Same with clumping feature, I have no idea how long it should clump for. I also don't know if there is a way to have the app set for multi cat weights and my cats have similar weights but the app varies a tiny bit as it's not exact when I see my one cat go in 3 times in the matter of a couple of minutes the weight slightly changes and I don't know if both are using it. There are no instructions on how to disassemble to clean or how to get the litter inside so I made the mistake of just pouring into small opening so I spilled a ton onto floor and now I pour into a cup and pour into box that way but that can't be how it's done so I'm either a little behind technically or this could use some improvements but instructions with more explanation of how to use would be helpful to know how to properly use the machine. As far as as changing the bag it is simple and main function of the box is good. I haven't smelled anything which is quite impressive as my cats have the stinkiest poops ever. Will update soon! UPDATE, AS PROMISED Have now had the litter box a couple of weeks and have worked out some of the issues on my own by playing around with it. I figured out how to take the drum out to fill litter and clean out. There is a latch on back that isn't as obvious as one would think at least not to me. Customer service is super important when making a large purchase or really any purchase and I was contacted very soon after my initial review letting me know that they will gladly help me to understand the machine so that I can use it correctly and to it's potential therefore making my life easier which is why I purchased. I was kind of annoyed because I felt like I was being told that if I wanted help with the problems I put in my review then I needed to ask which to me was pretty clear that if you know the issues I'm having then yes please send me the guides I need BUT in the last response I was informed that was Amazon's policy that I can contact the seller but the seller needed to take certain steps to reach me to not violate policy through Amazon! Anyways PetCove has been very responsive and has even refunded the purchase in hopes that I will continue to use the product that they are confident in and hope that I can spread the word. In all sincerity I actually am liking the auto litter box. It's pretty basic, not complex and does exactly what it is supposed to do! I just wish it came with clear instructions or any instructions! I waited a bit to write this review so I had some experience with this first. After having more than a few of the high priced robo-type products and eventually having to toss them due to electronic failures I knew I didn't want to stay with that company or pay those prices. I looked at a lot of options and took a chance with the PetCove unit. This turned out to be a great choice. It sets up easily and though I'm still learning a few of the button options (my issue not theirs) it is working flawlessly. The unit is quiet, has a smaller footprint than my earlier cat boxes, and I LOVE that it deoderizes which works, by the way. It's not just some mesh and charcoal, it's an actual process. Their app is easy to navigate and gives a TON of usage information which can be valuable in some situations. Oh and get this, they have a full lifetime warranty. Who does that anymore? I live in a small city and we have been experiencing delivery problems with FedEx; "our" driver doesn't seem to want to deliver here. After almost a week of notifications that my package was out for delivery but never actually being delivered, I contacted Amazon for assistance and they, in turn, contacted the seller. I had already contacted this shipper who was no help at all. Amazon contacted the seller after 2pm on a Friday. About 2 hours later my package was delivered! I don't know what PetCove said or how they managed this but they did. I emailed them a thank you and got a lovely reply quickly. I have 4 cats and they all use this litter box. I still have 1 more of the other type ready to fail and when it does I'll buy a second PetCove litter box. Buy it!! you won't be sorry.

Customer Service Update: I have upgraded my review from 1 star to 3 for two simple reasons. First, because customer service has been really really great, going above and beyond trying to give me a good experience. Unfortunately, even their new model does not address the seemingly unique experiences I've had so I will leave my review intact for further product development. It seems some of the issues I had with the recepticle door and weight not triggering the sensor have been addressed in the new model. The second reason is because I bought another similarly priced auto litter box and I found issues with it that were more safety oriented. I think this litter box deserves some credit for being safer than my second purchase. That's a bigger deal to me than malfunction. Sure it turned on while they were in there, which really broke trust for one of my cats, but I don't see it being able to crush a paw like this other one could. UPDATE 2 months in: Reduced my review from 4 to 1 stars. Fully regret my purchase. Really starting to hate this thing. I've had two disaster experiences with it that ended with litter dumped all over the floor. I've also caught it cycling while my cat was in it twice. The cat sensor was on, so this is not supposed to happen. Why is it an option to turn that off anyway? The design of the litter bag change door is terrible and turns out to be pretty fragile. I'll describe my two catastrophies. 1. There is a button the rotates the machine only a few degrees so you can change the bag with more help from gravity. Otherwise if it's overfull it will spill a little litter into the bag chamber. This is a problem because it falls down into the hinges and the door struggles to latch again if there is any debris. The real problem to me is that this setting has a 30 second timer on it and then it rotates back into place. I didn't realize this the first time I used it, admitted user error here. I walked away from the machine to go get a new bag and tossed the old. While I was away (less than 5 mins) it returned to normal position with the door open and also entered a clean cycle. I got back just in time to catch it before it broke the door off. It doesn't seem to have any safety stop for this event. I also frantically pressed buttons trying to get it to stop or reverse (buttons seem to disable during cycle) so I had to yank the machine out of its cubby to get it unplugged at the last second and completely disassemble it to save the door. Litter went everywhere. It took several tries to get the orb seated and running again. 2. The second event was worse, and I'm seeing it will be hard to prevent from happening again. It should be noted I was using the provided trash bags for this event. The loop where you secure the bag and sinch it is not a tight hold. I'm always careful about this part cause it has struck me as an issue. Well I was right. The sinch string slipped out just enough that half of bag was loose from the receptacle hole. Most of the bag had emptied into the door chamber throughout who knows how many cycles. The door does not contain the litter in such a situation so as soon as I released the door to open it, litter spilled all over the floor from both sides. Also litter filled the hinges. This becomes a very awkward object when stuck open. There was no choice but to wrestle it around and dump everything on the floor. Luckily I had a litter mat nearby to dump into. Disassembled the machine again so I could hold it upside down to clear the hinges, also requiring a pipe cleaner because the litter was every so slightly wet and sticky. I'm furious at this point. Edit: I believe some of these design issues with the door hinges specifically have been fixed in the new model. I used to be a zookeeper for a living. I'm not scared of messes from animal waste, but these two events have been completely unacceptable and cost a lot of time and physical effort to fix. They were emergent and could not have been put off. Thank goodness I wasn't in a hurry either time. This is in direct oposition of the purpose of an auto littler box. Other than that the notification system still really bothers me. It doesn't really tell you when it is full. It just reminds you occasionally when your cat has triggered a cycle that it might be time to check it. The weight sensor has never worked properly. My cat, who is an indiscriminate scratcher pulls the little step guard off the front regularly since it simply slides on. If I don't use that piece litter will dump out of the opening when cycling. The only things I still like are small size, quietness, and it doesn't smell. This thing is probably getting tossed as soon as I can afford something else. I think for me personally I would not even try another machine that's litter does not dump into a bottom drawer. I think this is a major design failure now that I've had some experience with what can go wrong. My Litter Robot 3 could be frustrating when it didn't work but it never caused such a mess and I never got dirty except on the irregular and intentional deep cleaning day. ORIGIAL REVIEW: I'm switching from a Litter Robot 3. So far I think this litter box has a few pros on its side. It's is significantly more compact. I specifically bought this to put under my desk, a place the LR3 would not fit. I was worried about the interior size because I have one very lanky cat (13lbs LONG). He used it fine by the second day it was out and he is quite slow to warm up to things and picky about stepping in litter. There is more surface are that the litter sits in compared to the LR3. I think that led to my 2 cats warming up to it quickly. It is SO much more quiet than the LR3. To the point I worry the motor is underpowered but we will see how long this thing lasts. I don't know yet how long between empties it will take my two cats to fill the receptacle. The LR3 takes 5-7 days for us. I'm hoping this keeps up with that. I like the location of the bag removal. Less cumbersome. The directions insist the machine sits on flat, solid ground, not carpet. This could have been a deal breaker for me and something I didn't realize before purchasing. I've added a piece of wood board under mine that is discrete and it seems to be functioning fine. It may be the source of the weight feature not working consistently at all, see below. I like the deodorizing feature. So far it doesn't smell but time will tell. I also like that the receptacle has a door the covers the opening when it is flipped right side up. I think the LR3 failed here because it wasn't a perfectly closed system and smells could waft through the top hole. There are a few areas I see potential for improvement, mostly in the app. I was really excited that this weighed my cats during every use. This feature so far has not been even close to accurate. It's all over the place. I wish you could also add specific cats (mine are different enough it would be obvious) and graph their changes over maybe like a weekly, monthly, and quarterly view. I also would like to control notifications more. It seems to be all or nothing. I don't need to know when my cats have entered, it has cleaned, and then also deodorized. I do need to know about malfunctions and wish one of these companies would have an alert for excess use. I have a cat with urinary tract problems so one reason I get auto litter boxes is so I can easily monitor how often he goes. Overall I'm impressed with this thing and will absolutely update this review should my opinion change.
