Box dyes that are purple or pink for dark hair tend to come out more red, even on bleached hair. Charcoal Fuschia is more pink than expected. The color actually looks pink in the bottle! Unlike Amethyst Black which looks more red than purple. I find this brand fades pretty quickly after just a couple of washes so I'm assuming I'll have this vibrant color for about 2-3 weeks before it starts to fade to orange/brown. ... show more

So....I thought that this would work, as it's darker than the brown that my hair was previously colored. I have strong gray regrowth as well, and it was a few inches long, as I was waiting between colorings to let my hair detox a bit. My hair is in great condition, thick, about shoulder length. There was enough in the bottle that I had about a quarter left over. I'd recommend two bottles for longer hair. My hair brushes the tops of my shoulders and doesn't go past. My hair was brown, and I had two bleached 'chunks' in the front, one on the top layers of my hair, one as peekaboo under the top layer. They were pretty wide. I was going for a two-tone, but one that I could wear to the office. This color is a pretty brown, smoky purple on the bleached areas. Otherwise, there's only a faint sheen/no deposit at all on my brown hair. As far as gray coverage? I did the full thirty minutes and started on my roots, so that color was on my roots for a bit longer than the length. And I can't say that it covered my grays well enough that I'd use this color again. I might, just to see if it does better next time or has better coverage on the older gray strands as it layers, but I'm not sure. My 'grays' are light silver and this couldn't entirely cover them. There's obvious less deposit on the silver strands verses the browns. The good news is that because I have more gray than brown coming in, the coverage looks pretty uniform. It's just not what I wanted. On my roots, it's a nice, smoky brown, with some lighter streaks where the gray is. On my bleached areas, it's the box color and looks really pretty. Over the existing brown dye, there's pretty much nothing that's changed. So, if you've colored your hair darker, do a prebleach. You don't need to do a harsh one or to do it for long. Just lift your hair to a lighter brown/darker copper, and this should work fine on it. Don't forget to wait a couple of days between bleaching and dying and to moisturize the crap out of your hair. I recommend Perfect Hair Day for colored hair. It's extremely nourishing and worth the price to have silky soft hair after bleaching. ... show more

I wanted a super jet black and I definitely got it. Very, very sexy dark black, vibrant, and it did not make my hair damaged, at least not that I could tell. I was a bit shocked boxed dye could accomplish that. My shower stall…that was another story. I had dye everywhere- 10 rinses and black dye was still coming out. It took about a full week until my hair washed clean during my daily showers (and sometimes I shower twice if I work out). For this reason alone, I wouldn’t get it again. I needed to hire a deep cleaner to get rid of the mess bc my shower walls were just dyed themselves, particularly the grout between the tiles. Sometimes I think it’s worth it to just color in a salon. Great color- horribly messy application that takes days to fully wash out. ... show more
