Beautiful to look at, app is very basic and the app works when it wants to as another person said. Mine was hardwired by an electrician but the app will say car is unplugged and not charging when the car is clearly plugged in AND charging. The history does not work so you can't look back and see any specs. The charger works but frequently stops at 75% charged when it is set to charge to 90%. Sometimes it starts and stops. If I could return it, and not loose any money, I would. But I have already paid $700 for this and money to have it installed. Update::: Charger has completely stopped working after only two years!!!! Company sent out another charger finally after many weeks and this one too has stopped working after only a year and now they won’t warrant it! Save your money and buy another brand!!!!!!! ... show more

    • Easy to Install
If you do not have some electrical installation experience, I recommend a professional or capable friend do the installation with you. Came well packaged and easy to follow instructions. Very durable construction for the charging unit and charging cable. As for electrical connection detail, the 50A (6 gauge) wire only needs the back, red, and ground to connect (white neutral is NOT connected to the charging unit) and the "grounding" receptacle in the charging unit appears to large to fix the bare ground wire securely (thinner gauge than the hot wires), so I had to fold it over double to bite securely. No trouble, just saying. Have been using it for over a month, no issues. The app is simple, only allows for firmware updates and reports total daily or historical output. The app designed for your car likely gives more details while charging. ... show more

My husband and I purchased the Schumacher ev charger for our garage. I liked that it was a little more stylish than some of the boxy units on the market. My husband was more interested in the specs, but they ticked his boxes too. Plus, we both wanted an EV charger with an app so we could schedule charging. A pleasant surprise once the charger arrived was that the QR code in the manual leads to a page where you can access some great videos and also set up installation. It was really convenient not to have to hunt down an electrician on our own. Now that it’s up and running, we’re both really happy with it. The charger is fast and works great. Plus, it’s easy to schedule charging in the app. I also like that the charging cable is 25 feet. It makes it easy to charge the car in either bay of the garage ... show more

    • The unit did not work out of the box
I installed two of these units the same day. Neither one worked. I called customer service and after speaking with them over two days and they were no help. I have been an electrician for forty years and don’t think you should have to troubleshoot something out of the box.

Love this charger! I was initially intimidated by the fact that it had to be hardwired. I am not a do-it-yourselfer, but on the Schumacher EV website you can click on a link to get an installation quote and hire a licensed electrician. Installation only took a few clicks and my credit card. My kind of DIY. The installer even walked me through setting up the app, which was easy. And I know it’s not the most important thing, but I like that you can hang up the gun from either direction and it doesn’t stick out into the garage for me to constantly knock off with my car mirror.
