Update 3 (July '25) ** It's now over a year later, and not even once have I had an issue with this charger. It is frankly perfect and reliable; and on a 50A circuit, the 40 Amp capability is the perfect match for my needs (as you only want a maximum 80% draw on any electric circuit in your home). 5-Star review maintained. Update 2 (Oct '24) ** I've now updated this review for the second time and have raised the stars to "5" from the previous 4 and before that 3. In the four months I have had this unit, I would like to report that it has worked flawlessly without so much as a hiccup. My car commands it to charge when programmed, and the rate of charge and limits operate perfectly according to the needs of my car. The 40 Amps is a great rate to fully charge my car overnight from any state of charge. The cables and plugs are solid and support the heaviest of loads, and though the unit housing itself is plastic, it doesn't hurt operation one bit and it all runs cool and reliably. For the cost, this unit would be hard to beat by the best of your options as long as you have your car function as the programming/scheduling brain. UPDATE 1 (Aug '24) ** Well, it turns out that Amazon's "AI" answer to my question below is the culprit. The reply that multiple current values are supported did not come from the manufacturer nor any customers, but the automated answer from Amazon (which in this case is wrong). The manufacturer did not mislead and was courteous when I questioned them, so I have raised the rating to 4-stars from 3. Overall, this is a decent charger at a fixed 40A, but fortunately my car limits the current to a safe value for the vehicle depending on conditions (capacity, temperature, etc). So, I am keeping it even though some better-built units are available. The light plastic box is a bit suspect for future longevity, but the cables and connectors are super-solid and very heavy-duty. The charging has been reliable for a couple of weeks now, the unit stays cool (cooler than my former portable charger), and it was a good value compared to other comparable fixed chargers. Cables on 40A chargers like this one are much thicker than the ones on 32A chargers and I very much approve... Original review: Unless the manufacturer or someone can tell me how this charger can be used at lower than 40A current levels, I am going to return it. I very specifically asked the question on this page and got the following answer: "Yes, the charger supports adjustable current from 16-40A, allowing users to charge at lower currents if desired. The current can be adjusted via the charger's control panel." WELL - NO. It does not support adjustable current levels, and there is neither a control panel setting nor is there any instruction on how to do so in the user manual. This charger is decently built with very heavy-duty cables, but I normally want to charge at 32Amps and only occasionally want the full 40A quicker charging. Sigh... If you just want a 40A (all-the-time) charger, then this one seems like a decent deal.

Purchased this charger after looking up reviews and stats for other chargers. I wanted to get the Tesla charger but, this one was a pretty good deal for $100 after a $20 coupon. Very happy with it. Purchased an adapter to be able to use it with my Tesla Model 3 and it has not given me any issues. Just wish it had a better way to mount it since it just has one screw hole for mounting. Other than that, cable is long enough to where I can park in reverse or forward orientation and I am able to plug in with no issue. I am currently using this on a 120v outlet and charges about 6 miles an hour which for my use right now, is more than enough. Would highly recommend getting this one since you can pretty much get two of these for the price of one Tesla Mobile Connector and have an extra one to leave in the vehicle for trips.

This has stopped working. We moved so I unplugged the QPQ I wired the plug and check the plug for power. My multimeter shows power to the plug. But when I plug-in the QPQ I get nothing Update: This was my fault on not working. After fixing the issue the QPQ is working correctly

I bought this charger because it charges faster than a standard outlet charger. When it was delivered I realized it required a different type of outlet than I expected. I had an electrician install the outlet and finally got to use the product. It did the job but after a month it stopped working. The service window for the product is only 3 months. I’m stuck with a useless charger and their Amazon page has no contact information.

I'm using this charger with a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. It charges the 4xe in 4 hours 39 minutes, which is 2.8X faster than the Level 1 Jeep charger that came with the 4xe (that one takes 12 hours 48 minutes to charge, so this is a definite improvement). I have it connected to a 240V NEMA 6-20 outlet (240V 20A) in my garage. There is one glitch, however, that I cannot find a solution for (because there is no way to contact the manufacturer). The first time I connect the charger to the Jeep, I get a charger fault error on the Jeep that requires me to disconnect and reconnect the charger. It always starts working on the second connect, but never the first. This does not happen with the Jeep charger, just this one. I would very much like to find a reason as to why this is happening. Is it a bad charger? That seems odd because it works flawlessly otherwise. For this reason, I only give it 4 stars, not 5.

This charger is very simple but works amazingly. Comes with a 6-20 wall charger and a standard 3 pronged outlet as well. It charges up to 16A, (which usually for me equates to 16 miles an hour). I only charge to 80% so that is very efficient for overnight use. Make sure if you do have a Tesla, that you use the adaptor and if you don’t have one, you’ll need to get it. I have two cars in my garage so the extended length of the cable is perfect for my situation. Also comes with a travel organizer for the charger to come with you on travels. No extra bellls and whistles, but I feel they are not really needed. If you want something that works fine and charges your car, with no install fees, then this is a perfect solution.

I bought a used VW ID.4 and it didn’t come with a portable charger. My previous EV experience was with a Tesla which came with a portable charger. This QPQ charger immediately impressed me when I opened the box as it’s quality was much better than the Tesla charger. Plugged into 110 the Teska charger would give me 4 miles per hour. The QPQ charger added 6 miles per hour. I plugged in last night with 23 % battery at 6:00 and unplugged at 10:00 this morning with 55% battery. I have ordered a Chargepoint stage 2 charger to install in my garage and will use this charger when I travel. It comes with a durable carry case. It even has a VW silk screened on the side! Update: I plugged in yesterday at 4:30 pm at 35% and by 8:00 this morning it’s at 67%. Pretty good for 110v.
