The is our 2nd 10 foot umbrella we bought from Purple Leaf. We bought our first last month and we just loved it. No issues. Came sooner than expected and not a problem with set-up. We decided to buy another one and boy what a difference in delivery and product. Based on the way the box looked when it arrived the box looked like someone opened it looking for something? Well I took some pictures before opening, just in case. When hubby opened the box and took every thing out he discovered right away that the beige bag was not included. Well, that explained why the box looked like it had been opened and then used corrugated box material to replace the portion of the box that was opened. Not sure if my theory is correct or not. I emailed purple leaf this morning after our discovery and tried to explain our dilemma. We are currently waiting for their reply. Fingers crossed for a quick reply. UPDATE 3/13/23 Just sent 2nd email requesting a call back and sent 2 pictures of the delivered damaged box. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 UPDATE 3/24/23 We finally have a 2nd working Umbrella! It was a long process to get to where we wanted to be. I was told that the shipping company they used damaged the box not Purple Leaf.

Previously bought two Purple Leaf umbrellas (13' and 10' rounds) and loved them. Favorite thing about them is how the colors didn't fade the first year in the sun like the cheaper umbrellas we bought previously. Slight mix-up when we received the third one purchased and customer service was incredibly quick and responsive to help us get the correct one in time for a backyard party. Yes, they are heavy. Yes, they are more expensive than others. From my experience, it's justified and I'd happily recommend Purple Leaf to others.

Great CS and follow up. Filled base with water only and it doesn’t budge in the wind when folded and secured. The umbrella itself moves quite a bit when open, which is a little concerning but no damage at this point. The associate “Tears” was vey helpful with the little hiccups along the way.

I am revising my original rating from three to four. My original reservations have not changed - filling the base with sand is an impossible task and the mfr should have created much larger openings so that the process could take just minutes rather than hours. I pointed this out to the company and they said they would pass my suggestion onto their research department. They also suggested that for those living in cold places that you could fill the base with 3/4 water and 1/4 anti-freeze. I suppose that would solve the problem. Second, they suggest that assembly requires two people - I would suggest perhaps two very strong people or maybe even three people. This thing is a monster and very heavy to lift and position onto the stem into the base. Having said that, I am happy with the finished product (picture attached) and have received quite a few compliments. Just be aware of this product's difficulties. I am writing this review to warn potential buyers that putting this together is not a piece of cake. Otherwise, the umbrella seems to be plenty sturdy and attractive. Just be prepared for the work involved.

We purchased the 12 foot round in turquoise. We had previously purchased the IN-GROUND holder for it. Sadly, this is my THIRD order for this umbrella. Delivery day came and went for 2 of them (even though it showed several in stock). Third one was ordered...then the second order showed up so I cancelled the third. I guess Amazon's inventory system is just there to make you think you might get the item. It's very easy to assemble, although there are a couple of minor details in the instructions that might have been leftover from another, previous, model that don't apply--but it's pretty easy to see when this happens. I would like to note that the cross piece (stand) does NOT come with this umbrella. It's just the stick. Also this umbrella has NO base (the kind you add sand or water to) included. That is a separate purchase. We were aware of this before ordering, but I think it needs to be said. The 12 foot round umbrellas do not come (nor is there a replacement ) in sunbrella fabric. Apparently other sizes do, at a premium. This is a negative for me having had a black sunbrella fabric umbrella that must have been 7 years old that didn't fade at all. I anticipate this will fade so I did purchase a spray UV protector hoping to get a couple more years out of it in our all day Texas sun. I have my doubts, though... The color is a bit less washed out looking than in the online photos. I would say it's a darker turquoise (not in the green family at all). As you can imagine, in the ground is the sturdiest way to go with this, and having had umbrellas break due to fluke wind gusts, I just didn't want to take a chance again. Also it's very nice not having a large, ugly, plastic base in the way. It's not a super high-end umbrella, but seems well made for the money. Would like to also add that the price keeps going up (within weeks). First and second order were 569. Third order was 579. Now (6/21) I see that they are up to 599. I'll update this as time goes on... Day one update. After installing this, we discovered one of the ribs is bent. We'll see what customer service says... Day three update. Also discovered a very small hole in the fabric. Customer service has assured me that they will "make this right". But they want screenshots of my invoice and photos of the damage. Day four. I have ordered a replacement, but will keep this one until the replacement comes (as it is still usable). However it's my experience with this item that no matter how many they say are in stock, it's possible that the day of delivery it will have "been delayed" (this has happened twice). Don't think that you will get one until it shows up. Day whatever....6/25. Replacement umbrella came. Replacement umbrella has bent ribs in the same place that the first one did. I have gotten in touch with Purple Leaf and sent photos of the issue, which I believe to be caused by inadequate packing material. First umbrella has been picked up by UPS and now am waiting for Amazon to get more so that I can try again. I am angry and I am tenacious. Stay tuned :) July 1st update....****SEE EDIT AT THE END*****the manufacturer has been kept in the loop by me through all of this. I've been assured that they will make it right... For those of you who are wondering (and still reading) the ribs are replaceable. I've decided to go with this as the option. If you have an issue with any part of your umbrella, then get in touch with the manufacturer. Be warned though, you will get one email a day...so any back and forth DOES take a while---however they seem very committed to customer satisfaction. Hopefully, Purple Leaf will change their packaging a bit to protect the vulnerable (thinner) vent ribs. Having to return products not only is a pain in the neck, but it ends up ultimately costing ALL of us. Better packaging would help stop this... ETA Amazon's inventory update is deplorable. If you don't see this in the color/size you want, then CHECK BACK EVERY DAY. And don't be surprised if, even after you click "buy", yours gets sold out from under you...it's not yours until it arrives at your house... ******EDIT: 7/15. Company based in China has sent me replacement ribs. Packaged very poorly (WHY???). Also was sent a link to DIY this myself. Link sends me to a page that "does not exist". Also, one of the replacement ribs is not the one I need and so I still have one bent rib (that's not SUPPOSED to be bent) I did receive an updated link for how to replace these, however, the link won't load (the page does, but the video is an endless loop of loading). I guess I'm on my own with figuring this out. Purple Leaf did finally agree to pick up and refund me the money, however I had purchased and installed the INGROUND base for this particular umbrella, so I would have to dig it up to send it back. So, no...I'm not doing that. Save yourselves the heartache, people. Read the negative reviews and shop elsewhere...you can see that my case is not simply a one-off defective umbrella, but a series of bad products and poor resolution/customer service.
