I almost never write reviews, but I had to for this because Purple Leaf went above and beyond. Their customer service was outstanding. But, first, the product itself. This is the second Purple Leaf cantilevered umbrella we've purchased. The quality is terrific, especially at the price point. The pole is strong and solid. The fabric is strong, durable, and attractive. This does not look cheap at all. Everything is high-end. All of the mechanisms work well. And based on our first umbrella, these are very durable, even with strong sun and wind. It takes some effort to assemble it, but it is very do-able. The instructions are above-average; they could include more precision and guidance. We made a couple of mistakes, but they were easy to correct. The 9x11 cantilevered umbrella we ordered does not come with a cover. It's worth the investment to buy one separately. (It also doesn't come with a base, so you'll have to order that as well. Again, even taking into consideration these separate purchases, this is still a great value for a top-end patio umbrella. We can't recommend this strongly enough.) The real amazing thing about this purchase, however, was the customer service. Everything went incredibly smoothly, and Purple Leaf's customer service repeatedly checked in on the process to make sure everything was moving along properly. Bravo to Purple Leaf!

This is our second Purple Leaf umbrella, and we couldn’t be happier. The quality is outstanding—it’s incredibly durable, stable even in high winds, and the size is HUGE, providing excellent shade for our outdoor space. Our first one has lasted for years, which is why we came back for another. What really sets Purple Leaf apart is their phenomenal customer support. When we discovered a bent rib on the new umbrella, their team quickly shipped replacement parts, sent clear instructions (including a video), and stayed in touch until everything was fixed. Kate from their support team was patient, responsive, and genuinely helpful—I felt like they truly cared about making sure we were happy. It’s rare to find a product that’s both high-quality and backed by such excellent service. We got the 9x12 gray. It looks very nice. We have had it about three months so we’ll see how it ages through the seasons. We anchored it on the deck and is very sturdy. I wish there could be a fan accessory i could buy Our umbrella came with a small plastic piece damaged but customer service was quick to send a replacement and it was easy to fix.

In a nutshell - the umbrella is great. So glad we got it. We live on the Columbia River facing south/southwest across from a wildlife refuge, so we need some shade but I didn't want anything that would permanently block the view. Also, we're near the mouth of the famously windy Columbia Gorge, so any umbrella would have to be extra stable, even when closed (I've lost several tall, heavy potted plants). This umbrella hit every mark. 1. As you can see from the photos, when the umbrella is closed, it's out of view. 2. I can sit outside now and find shade any time of day by changing the angle of the umbrella. 3. My engineer husband laughed at me when I said we ought to move it to the side of the house to be safe when the big winds come. He said that the umbrella is going nowhere when closed. We had some 15 mph gusts the other day when I was sitting outside, and there was some minor movement at the top, but nothing to be concerned about. Assembly and operation: My son put it together on his own, pretty intuitively; however, he's 6'5". If you don't have the height, It would be pretty difficult without two people. Now that it's assembled, it's very easy for me to put up and down and change the angle. We got the moveable base because I wanted to be able to adjust the location to shade the table or the seating area. However, we filled it to the max with sand and water for maximum stability, so it's big and it's HEAVY. My son and husband can move it. I (a fit 135 lb, 5'5" woman) cannot. Customer service suggested we take some of the sand out and put a couple of sandbags on top instead. We'll do that before next season.
