I spent a couple hours doing research before purchasing this item to figure out what kind of 220V dryer outlet I had (a 10-30R) and I was a little wary because the unit I selected listed it's male connecter as 10-30P but I gave it a shot because my outlet was rated for 30A and the unit only claims to pull 16A and the plug should fit... It did fit and worked like a charm the first time I plugged it in. I had just bought a PHEV with a smallish 17kWh battery that took 12 hours to charge on a standard 120V outlet. The dealer offered to come and installed a 40A charger which would have cost a few thousand dollars all-together along with the labor cost for the electrician which seemed like way overkill for a PHEV. I was quite pleased to see this "only 16A" charger charge me from 0 to full in under 5 hours so I could schedule the charging to happen in the middle of the night when electricity is cheaper. ... show more

The original charger we bought in 2012 for our Chevy Volt finally quit. Because i didn't want to rewire for a 40a circuit. I bought this, an excellent replacement, and had an electrician install a standard dryer receptacle, and chose that adapter cord as an option. After several months, it is still working great on the Volt and our 2019 Bolt. I especially like the 30 ft cord length and ability to change adapters for a variety of receptacles, if that becomes necessary with travel. I couldn't he happier with this charger. ... show more

    • Better read this before buying. Not all Level-2 chargers are the same!!!

This is a great charger and does the job fine....BUT when it comes to Level-2 chargers, they're not all the same!!! This unit is a 16-amp charger, not a 32-amp charger. Basically, there are different kind of Level-2 chargers. The 32-amp charger will do a complete charge in 7-9 hours but this unit, being half the amperage at 16-amps will take twice as long, requiring 15-18 hours to complete a charge. Take this one step further. A 16-amp charger like this can operate on a 220-volt 20-amp circuit which entails 12-gauge wiring. The 32-amp charger should be connected to a 220-volt 40-amp circuit which entails 8-gauge wire. What this means is that you'll need a 20-amp circuit breaker running 12-gauge wiring for the 16-amp unit and a 40-amp circuit breaker running 8-gauge wire for the 32-amp charger. You'd best know your electrical panel, what size wiring you currently have and be prepared to swap-out or deal with different plug configurations to make everything work. ... show more

Seems to be of high quaility materials, doesn't feel cheap or flimsy. Works great charging my car. The display shows alot of info, important to me is the kwh used this charge, write it down if you need the info because it clears itself when you unplug from your car. I like that it clears itself so that I don't have to. It comes well packed and is from a Silicon Valley company, which is local for me. ... show more

We've had our Chevy Bolt for 4 months now and have been using this cable to charge overnight. It fit our situation perfectly as we had a leftover dryer plug/circuit in the garage (we relocated the washer/dryer to inside the house several years ago). This cable charges at 1/2 a home station rate, but we have all night to charge. It takes about 10-12 hours to charge our Bolt from about 70 miles left to a 90% target of around 220 miles. We just plug in when we get home for the day and wake up the next morning ready to go. ... show more
