  • The best Level 2 charger if you need to use it with an older 10-30P 240V outlet.
All level 2 chargers work with 14-50 240V outlets, a newer standard that supports up to 40 amps continuously, and a fourth ground wire. For homes built before 1996, the 240V outlets for dryers are typically 10-30 outlets (Y shape) without ground, and only supports up to 24 amps continuously. Even though I have a 240V outlet near garage, it is an older 10-30 outlet not designed for level 2 charging. If I want to pull a new 240V circuit to the garage, the cost is prohibitive as I have no spare space in the breaker box and the garage is on the opposite side of the breaker box. So my realistic option is to find a level 2 charger that can work with the 10-30 circuit safely. This charger is one of the few level 2 charger that would allow you to: 1. set the maximum current to 24 amps, 2. set "no-ground" option, 3. get done for less than $200. All I need buy in addition to this charger is a 10-30 to 14-50 adapter. So far, I am very pleased with its performance. My maximum charging rate can reach 5.8kw, only slightly less than the 6.2kw maximum charging rate on Nissan Leaf. I have no issue after a few months of use. ... show more

  • Works great, been in service for a year
I've had this installed in my garage for about a year now. No problems whatsoever. I use the adapter that came with my Tesla. I don't use it, but I like that I could schedule charging time if I wanted to. Great for those who see lower electricity rates over night.

  • Don't do it
Don't do it. Worked perfectly for about 6 weeks and then it wouldnt communicate with my car and stopped charging. Sometimes if I unplugged it and plugged it back in it would at least do the handshake but it wouldnt charge. Don't waste your time and money on this. Get something better quality. I replaced this with a Lectron and the cables are much thicker on the Lectron. Maybe youll get lucky and it will last longer for you but this was a fail for me after just over a month ... show more

  • Works well, but is very bulky and cumbersome for a portable EVSE
I always keep a portable EVSE cord in my Chevy Bolt EUV, so when my original OEM cord stopped functioning reliably, I bought this one to keep in my vehicle. It works well and was a good value, but the bulk of it makes it very heavy and unwieldy. The cable itself is very thick and the 110 adaptor portion is very clunky (but very durable). My Chevrolet cord was a 110-220 cord, but so much easier to coil and store when done. The display on this cord is taking a bit of a beating from the cement flooring, as I use it primarily to charge while I'm at work in the parking garage. Besides being a solid value, the cord is about 12 inches longer than my original cord, so very beneficial when I am unable to park in the space nearest to the 110v outlet. ... show more

  • Nice unit, not over-designed. Works well with a Rivian R1T
We took delivery of our Rivian R1T at the end of November, and I have been using this charger for home use. We had the NEMA 15-50R outlet installed in our garage and the unit works just fine with the Rivian! I use the Rivian's on-board charging timer to charge during specific hours and to pull no more than 32amps. I found that when I did not set the amps in the R1T to be no more than the charger could handle (the truck will take up to 48 amps), the charging would error out on occasion. The only thing I would recommend is to mount the NEMA adapter higher on the wall than the minimum stated in the instructions. The cables are THICK and do not flex all that well; mounting the socket higher would have allowed for a better cable alignment of the unit. ... show more

  • Quite pleased if it lasts.
Have it installed for a couple of weeks now and I am quite pleased so far. I used the 14-50 plug in a box wired with 6/3 wire in metal conduit and a 50A circuit breaker. I really like the fact that the 14-50 240v plug is hardwired and the 120v plugs in to that. This makes it lockable if the box is. I use it as a permanent home charger and it provides a solid 32 Amps and 7 KW which has proven sufficient to charge my Lightning overnight even if I go to 90 to 100% if I plan a road trip. I have measured temperatures at both ends and, at 95 or so degrees, I know it will never degrade the plugs on eather end. If it lasts, I will be quite pleased. ... show more

  • Nissan Leaf compatible
From the moment I opened the packed I like the gray color and the length is prefect for where I have to charge. It’s well made and I am impressed with the cost for how well made it is. It might be cheaper but it definitely is not made that way. It came in a neat compact bag for easy travel. As for the charging speed, I have use both charged in both Level 1-2 and was surprised at how quickly it works, even better than the manufacturers charger. ... show more
