We first got one for a small dorm room. We loved it, the cats loved it, and got more. The newest kitten will jump in it once it starts rotating(cleaning manually on kitten mode doesn’t help with that) and he hasn’t gotten hurt. He now weighs enough for it to recognize him(~3.8lbs is when it started picking him up). Another cat is pretty picky about boxes and we were worried she would be scared. Nope, for the first month or so of having it she would excitedly watch it clean. With a 10lb cat and 5lb kitten it’s usually a little over a week before I need to change the bag. The best part is that it’s a one time purchase, not a subscription. So many that I’ve seen require subscriptions for full functionality. You get the health data such as weight and frequency included. You can get third party bags and litter a little bit cheaper but the bulk packs aren’t bad price wise. Tips: It goes on sale quite often, if you have a few hundred dollars to spare it is so worth it. I will never go back. It needs to be on a hard floor, thick carpet makes it not register any weights so you can put something hard under it like plywood. If it says it’s full but you just emptied it, tap the container since the waste built up in the center and you’ll be good to go. It’s easy to clean the waste container part when there’s a sealing error but the drum is not so easy if you want to actually wash it, I’m sure with better tools it’d be ok. I generally only need to replace litter when I empty the container but sometimes it needs a little more before then. Reddit is much more helpful than the petkit site. The weight is roughly accurate, not perfect, but a very acceptable margin of error when they fully enter. Some cats have their front end out of it while using it so if you see a very odd number that’s usually why. Or a kitten joining a cat in it. Sometimes especially when it’s new, they go in and out just to dig or make it clean so the amount of uses may seem concerning. If you’re concerned, grab some ph sensing crystal litter (in a standard box) and if it’s off, bring it up to the vet. If it’s constipation you’re worried about you can turn off auto clean and check the poop. Warnings: It is technically able to handle tofu litter but it wastes a lot even with the larger scoop. If you want a holistic litter, something like worlds best may work better. It’s annoying to add litter since you can’t see the max fill line while it’s in the maintenance mode. If you have it on kitten mode then waste will build up more and it can even get to the point where there’s so much waste that it thinks there’s a cat. Do a manual clean, unplug, replug, manual clean, and repeat until it’s gone. This also happens if you don’t replace the bag for a long time since it will stop auto cleaning. I do find that they track litter quite a bit so you’re going to want a lot of litter mat area if it bothers you. Pee smell can soak into the liner if you leave it full too often where it doesn’t clean. It will not hurt an able bodied 6week+ kitten even off of kitten mode, but I wouldn’t risk it with anyone younger than that who is still figuring out motion so definitely make sure little ones and pregnant moms are supervised while cleaning.

I purchased this litter box a little over a month ago after reading many good reviews. The majority of the reviews also favorably compared the litter box to Litter Robot 3 which I was also considering. Pros: - The device does work and is capable of efficiently sifting through litter and poop clumps and depositing them in the trash bin automatically. There are also many different settings you can use. It is convenient to simply remove the liner and throw it out. Minor annoyances: - Occasionally the machine will display a cat in the litter box alert and not clean. Usually it will reset on its own or I have to manually press the button on the machine. It’s annoying but not a dealbreaker. Cons: - The machine is very cumbersome to fully clean. You can do weekly maintenance by wiping down the inner drum with a cleaning wipe which is fine, but to deep clean it fully with water is very awkward given the size and numerous nooks and crannies. - There is a design flaw with the inner liner. I had read several reviews regarding urine leaking and collecting on the bottom of the device. At the time I thought it may have been a rare occurrence and not typical of most users’ experience. However, I suspect that this is happening on most devices and just may have not been detected by others since the device otherwise works well. The liner is supposed to be replaceable- however, by making it replaceable there is a gap between the plastic edge of the liner and the casing. This allows for urine to seep through the gap and leak on the underside of the machine. If allowed to accumulate, it can cause a horrible urine smell. I didn’t realize this was happening until after the first week of use when I noticed a smell from the litter box and discovered this leak to my horror. I contacted customer service and they first stated it was a problem with the liner and sent a replacement. The replacement took 2 weeks to arrive since it was coming from China. Replacing the liner didn’t solve the problem which is when I figured out why it’s leaking. The support team then recommended tape and told me they would send it, to arrive in 2-3 weeks. Not sure why a) they didn’t send it in the first place and b) why I have to fix a $600 machine with tape. - Minimal customer support. You take a risk buying this device because the support team is located in China. The customer service is not comparable to most US companies- eg, offering to replace the unit, offer partial refunds, etc. Overall: The device works fairly well but has a fundamental design flaw that has to be fixed with tape. This is pretty ludicrous for $600. The customer service is located in China and any replacement parts take at least 2 weeks to come to the US. I would have returned the device and tried the Pura X, but customer service assured me their solution would work (it didn’t) and I gave them the benefit of the doubt. By the time the replacement part arrived, I was outside the 30 day Amazon return window. I didn’t have any issues with internet connectivity as some other reviews have mentioned. If I had known about this design flaw, I would not have bought this and instead tried the Pura X based on reviews. Hope this helps. UPDATE: Tape did not solve the problem, the machine still leaks. My guess is there are numerous defect devices where the casing seams are not watertight and allow leakage of urine.
