My cats won't go near the Litter-Robot for whatever reason, they just hate it. But I picked this Probot Max Pro up, set it up, and all four of them started using it immediately and apparently enthusiastically. The only real problem with it so far is that because it cycles slowly (for safety), they tend to queue up outside waiting for it, so I guess I'll have to pick up a second one and send the Litter-Robot to someone with less finicky cats. We've been through several different kinds of robot scoopers. HATE the rake style, which are nearly impossible to keep clean, and the cats always find some way to "pause" and poop on, and they always stink, this is the only one I can enthusiastically endorse as worth the money. I have one larger cat (about 12 pounds), two medium sized, and one small-ish. Thanks to the camera, I know the space is just slightly cramped for the larger one, who consequently occasionally leaves a smear on the side. Not a tragedy, the finish is sort of a non-stick and it wipes up, so a couple of times a week I check the camera and take a paper towel to any smears. With four cats, I have to empty it a couple of times a week, which is also fine. I'm not a big fan of the "deodorizing" scent, which smells to me roughly like a clean portapotty, but the scent only lasts a minute or so. I've noticed no litter or poo scent at all so far. I intend to let the "deodorizer" run out and see if it's really necessary. I'm using two different kinds of litter, both seem to work fine. Meijers brand clumping, and Dr Elseys. The cats don't seem to care either way, and the litter box works just fine with both. The device itself is completely quiet. The most noise is a slight hissing sound as the litter slides back into the box after auto-scooping, and the occasional "thump" of a clump dropping into the waste bin. I also really, really like the waste bin. It holds the bag firmly in place, is easy to pull out to empty, and the bags aren't stupid expensive even if you buy the brand name. I suspect other bags would work fine, but there's no reason to find out. In all, this was a great investment. I'm just waiting for another sale to get another one!

UPDATE (5 months later): I added a star, bumping this up to 5 stars. After months using both the Litter Robot 4 and the Petkit Purobot Max for my 2 cats, I love the Petkit so much I ordered a second one to replace the Litter Robot. Below are some of the reasons: - Petkit stays cleaner than litter robot. The materials are less sticky, and there are fewer seals and strips that need replacing. Petkit takes significantly less effort overall, even though there are ways it could be better (eg empty / replace the litter faster). - Petkit smells better compared to Litter Robot. Neither is perfect, but Petkit just doesn't retain as much scent in the liner or let as much odor through from the trash bag. - Camera is super useful for 2 cats. Tracking is easier and the app is better. - Petkit softwzre and sensors are less annoying than Litter Robot. Litter Robot gets interrupted by dust a lot more often. It sends too many useless notifications and needs more time to get through a cycle. - (HUGE) Petkit is compatible with tofu litters. I hate clay litter but saw it as a necessary evil. Litter robot only works with granular litter, but Petkit has a different sifter that will work with odd shaped tofu litter. It's cleaner, more sustainable, does not have ANY dust/tracking, and is significantly lighter. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Really awesome robot litter box. I already have a Litter Robot 4 and needed to add another litter box for our new cat. The Petkit definitely is my preference of the two devices because of the camera monitoring, more easily replaceable liners, and scent management. It’s really convenient to be able to monitor my cat remotely. I can make sure the cats aren’t being territorial of the litter box also watch for health indicators (eg kitten eating clumping litter, diarrhea, …). The Petkit app is a little less polished and cohesive looking than the Whisker app, but Petkit is more reliable, full featured, and useful. The Whisker notifications are a little spammy, like “litter robot interrupted”, or “cleaning complete”. The Petkit sends a useful summary like “Thomas used the litter box for 2 minutes, weight 11.1lb”. It just gives me a bit more information that is useful to know and observe any irregularities without tapping into the app. Petkit app is also a lot faster…. Whisker takes forever to load data and graphs. I hold back a star because the Petkit still has some flaws. The entry is smaller so it is tedious to clean. Also, having to touch the litter sifter every time you clean it is gross… the Litter Robot can empty itself without you having to put a sift guard on and off. The Petkit app also has some UX (eg ads everywhere) and localization quirks (hard to understand settings menus) that make navigating the app a little less intuitive. The Litter Robot 4 is not a perfect device either, so overall the Petkit is my preference of the two! The added technology and features outweigh the quirks. Petkit is dependable and useful, a highly automated litter box that controls odors, looks high tech / modern, and meaningfully improves my awareness of my pets health.

Wanted to wait until it had been a while before reviewing, (kind of a long one but they’re in depth answers to questions I had when I was looking into this purchase) we’ve had this now for about 4+ months. Cat took to this right away/loves this and so do we, every Tuesday trash day it’s so convenient to just take the bag out with the cans to the curb and replace it especially for my significant other too. We messed around with the settings for about the first week or two to see what worked best for our cat before figuring out what she liked, found that giving it 3-5 mins before cycling helped wait out her curiosity so she would move on and not trigger the sensor again trying to watch the cleaning or “spin cycle”. If you have the space, as it’s kind of a spaceship so check your measurements plus some surrounding space (also make sure you have an outlet or a nice extension cord as well as we found the provided cable a bit too short for our laundry room), but I think it’s definitely worth it. There’s no scooping and also not really any smell besides the N30/N60 diffusers but I can only speak as a single cat house that empty’s the trash weekly. If you don’t like the provided diffusers smell as some have mentioned (it’s like that in order to mask the poop) you could definitely get one of those plug ins or bathroom timer spray diffusers instead, but for us nothing from the litterbox travels farther than maybe a yard away max. We also have a contingency wall plug in right outside of the laundry room, where the litterbox is, in case guests walk by and our cat just happened to use the restroom at the same time as that can be a bit unavoidable. Our dog had a habit of getting into our old automatic litterbox as a form of acting out which is a big reason for us getting this and it’s completely fixed that issue for obvious reasons. If we had 2 cats I think only emptying the trash weekly would still not be an issue with smell or fill concerns depending on your cats bathroom use, we just like to keep on top of it. We bought the bags (and diffusers) in bulk and keep them in the laundry room cupboard but we’re still working through the first roll of bags, I don’t mind spending the money on them and this spaceship as it’s SAVED US IMMENSE MONEY on litter. The cost has and will continue to come back to us tenfold in savings, and our neat freak cat loves the cleanliness. Note: I have a spayed female cat with IBS so the waste fills up a bit quicker but no other bathroom concerns so overall I haven’t run into any issues with the machine, we have also never owned any litter robots so I can’t speak to their owner experience. I personally however HATED the automatic rake style litterbox. Cons: The only con is the double press OK button for maintenance, it’s kind of annoying the wait and to figure it out at first but I also understand it’s there as a safety feature for my cat and I’m honestly just kind of impatient so take that with a grain of salt. Camera?: (I work at a vet) I do agree that the camera is important for monitoring any future health concerns and if you’re probably going to be spending this kind of money already it’s best to just do it now so that you don’t have to in the future. Also the weight tracking is maybe even more beneficial to monitor loss/gain as that can be a HUGE early indicator of health concerns especially in cats as they typically don't show pain/symptoms.

Re: PetKit 2025 Litter box Works as advertised. Unfortunately, the LED controls on the front panel did not perform very well but I can use the phone app to control all functions. Quality (other than the LED switch) is good. Very quiet. The box opening is a good size for my 13 lb cats, whereas the interior toilet area is tight for a full size cat. General comment about self cleaning boxes: We have owned the box for 4 weeks now and my two cats have used it less than a half dozen times and only for urine. Initally, we took up their regular open face box but after a number of "accidents" we put the box back in its regular spot. I am still hopeful they will completely take to the new auto cleaning box. In the meantime I will still be scooping litter.

This is a good start to a really great product, but it’s not there yet. The AI is wildly inaccurate, it only identifies the correct cat 50% of the time. It almost never gets the weight right of the cat once he has entered the cat box. I have had this set up for several weeks now and only one cat has used it but not consistently. They seem a little too crowded and uncomfortable in the box.

Been a long time fan of Petkit, I upgraded my original Purobot to the Purobot Ultra a few years ago and have loved it ever since. Recently I added this model as a second unit for my upstairs, and once I started using the AI camera features, I realized I can’t go back to anything else. I chose this version because it’s slightly more compact but still offers the same camera capabilities as the Max. The monitoring has been a true game changer. I can check in remotely and track each cat’s bathroom habits, including session length and weight. The app sends notifications like “Jimmy used the box for 2 minutes, weight 11.1 lb,” which is incredibly helpful with three cats in the house. I also really appreciate the updated safety and design improvements. The dome now stays partially open, leaving a generous gap in case of any malfunction, and the entry is noticeably larger than their first model, making it easier for the cats to get in and out. Maintenance is minimal, with fewer parts that need regular replacement. Odor control is strong; I still empty the compartment daily like I do with my other robots, but the waste area itself does a great job keeping smells contained.

The cats like this one the best. You get what you pay for. It has way more features and is easier to use, clean and monitor. It has a lower opening and wider opening. I love the camera to check on how they’re doing. The other brand I bought that was half the price takes up more space, litter gets stuck to the bottom and is more difficult to get the litter out and put clean litter in. This one is so much better

This litter box has been an absolute game changer. I’ve had the box for about 7 months now, and it has changed my life for the better. It works exactly as described. I did a lot of research before purchasing. I wanted an automatic litter box that was suitable for two cats and had absolutely no safety issues. I also wanted a large opening, and plenty of room for my bigger cat. This box delivers. My cats are 9 lbs and 15 lbs, and both use it with no problem. To transition them to this box, I left out one of their previous boxes but never cleaned it, and then also provided this new automatic box. They took to the new box very quickly. They are young cats, about 1.5 years old when I got the box, so I think that helped because they were not overly attached to one style of litter box. I use just regular litter from the grocery store, nothing fancy. Don’t use lightweight litter, it doesn’t clump strongly enough. The litterbox literally never smells. My house doesn’t smell at all, it’s amazing. With two cats, I have to change the waste bag about once per week. There are two deodorizing cartridges in this box, one that is dispensed into the box itself after the cat uses the box, and one that sits at the front of the waste container. I’m gonna be real, they both ran out months ago, and I’ve only replaced one of them, and still NO SMELL!! This box does a great job of completely sealing up the waste bin, so there is no chance of smells leaking out. Every once in a while, the box will notify me via app that the waste bin is full, but it isn’t really full—it’s just that the waste has piled up in one spot, so I just wiggle the waste receptacle to spread it more evenly and that solves the problem. I also like that the waste bags are not expensive - I bought an additional package of waste bags so I wouldn’t have to think about it for a while. I only change the waste bag once per week, when the app notifies me. I also love the app. The AI face recognition is a little gimmicky but it actually works! It recognizes my cats accurately. It’s nice to see who is using the box and when. I also like knowing how much they weigh. This is also really nice for when we go out of town. It’s much easier to convince friends and neighbors to come check on my cats if they don’t have to scoop a box! Overall, I would recommend this box to anyone. It’s much cheaper than a litter robot, safer than the cheap $100 boxes, big enough for larger cats, contains smells, and I only have to touch it once per week. It has no safety issues because it is never fully enclosed and the waste bin is on the side, so no risk of a cat being trapped in the box or waste receptacle. It is honestly such a clever design that way! If you’re thinking about this box, DO IT!!!! Free yourself from daily scooping, it is such a life upgrade. Cannot recommend highly enough.
