We love the shade. Great product in that its self supportive, no need for extra poles to prop it up. Took me a long time to put together though. The instructions are step by step but are completely without an overall sence of direction. Pictures are minimal and unclear, so unless you already have a general idea of what it's supposed to look like then your probably going to have to undo the time consuming parts that you already assembled as you progress to the latter steps. Also, dont remove the ribbons until after its mounted as their holding the arms together which are spring loaded. I didn't know this, and barley escaped having one of the spring-loaded arms crash through our plate glass window. But now that it complete and mounted I believe it perfect for our little place in the back yard. ... show more

I use this awning to shade the bench under the pergola. I did a lot of DIY assembling and installation at home, actually this assembling should be easy, but the direction makes it as a nightmare. It's the worst direction I've ever seen, it makes the easy process very difficult, I bet the person who draw the instruction didn't get the proper education. The caution of not cutting the rope which tightens the arm before the full installation is not visible enough, unfortunately I cut it and the arm hit my left eye, fortunately I wore glasses, it saved me from losing my left eye, the corner of my left eye was broken and bled immediately. It took me a whole week to recover. Finally I finished the miserabl process. However, the quality or the awning is good, it's sturdy and works very well. I love the product itself but hate the direction. Be prepared to this if you are planning to buy it. ... show more

Installed the unit with professional help and on my first attempt to open it, It burst. The front bar failed to allow the arms to move freely. Will return the awning, but first I need to dismantle the whole thing. Double effort for zero rewards. Hopefully, they will send me a replacement so I will be able to save some of the work done. ... show more

If ok with the instructions being lacking and no clue how to do. Don't. Full install for people want a ready item. Not for you. Ones that can and do it yourself it's ok. Its honestly jancky on everything. Tweek here amd everywhere when up. Its a ok item if 0 wind ever involved.

Pleasantly surprised at the quality of this awning. If it holds up, the product itself deserves 5 stars. My husband assembled and installed. The only reason we took off a star was the poor quality of the instructions and my follow up with a question to the seller. If the instructions were printed on regular size paper to allow the illustrations to be enlarged, they would be much better. Also, they should have a native English speaker review them. Some of the words and phrasing were odd, although he was able to figure it out. My follow up with the seller was to see if I could purchase just the fabric, since I'm sure it will eventually fail in the hot sun. But they do not sell replacement fabric. So that was disappointing. The good news is the metal parts seem pretty substantial and overall, this appears to be a good value. Time will tell. ... show more

The Awning is sturdy and nice looking, HOWEVER, the company should fire the person who made up the directions. I must have dropped the F-bomb every other word with those lame directions. The print was so small and you could barely make out the pieces. My advise is to go to good ole You Tube we found a couple of workers doing the install of the awning we bought. We had to go back and forth a few times looking at what they were doing to get it right. I had to add a 2x8x8 wood to attach the brackets and use some heavier bolts. But after it was all done it came out nice and we sat down with some cocktails under our new awning. ... show more

With little more than a hundred bucks, this product is a great value - compare to using professional services companies to install an awning it would cost nearly 3X-5X times more. The product is very sturdy, and after it's installed, very easy to use and provides great value. A couple of minor issues with the product design, the over-hanging valance part isn't hanging in flat and striaght fashion but wrinkled (see photos), so it would be better to use an clothing iron to straighten it first before install. And the horizontal bar is slightly tilted after awning's full extension, could be due to the location of the support arms not perfrectly even. The assembly and install process is actually not that difficult, but being made much wrose by the unclear and confusing assembly instruction manual. The illustration diagrams are too small to tell the assembly details, and the descritpions are also confusing. I had to go onto YouTube to find some tutorial videos to figure out the whole assembly process. The most challenge part of the installation on the wall is to find the studs to mount the support jack or base. For homes like mine where wall exterior is covered by sidings, the typical stud finders used on dry walls won't work. So I had to use a small drill to first drill a few places to make sure I find the stud or beam, and not mounting the awning on the wall sidings which won't be able to support the awning's weight. ... show more
