In general for the price I am happy with the purchase. - It was reasonably easy to put together. - The pictures in the instructions I received were hard to make out for some of the steps. - The instructions I received called for a 5/8" bit. Thats way too big for the 14mm anchors provided. If you have to mount in brick/concrete ect. 9/16" is much closer if you don't have metric masonry bits. - Make sure you spend the time to align it properly. If not it will not extend and retract as it should. - The tilt adjustment is very nice. Especially if you do not have much clearance underneath for doors. - For the price it seems reasonably sturdy. I won't be leaving mine extended on a windy day though.

The product itself is pretty decent quality, but the instructions are awful. If you have installed a similar product before, you'll be OK, but if this is your first project like this, go to YouTube and watch a video first. The illustations are incomplete, missing details and the printed instructions, what there are of them, are cryptic. If you are handy, you will figure it out after studuying the parts carerfully, but if you are not, you may want to have it installed, or call on a competent neighbor or two. Sorry to dwell on the instructions so much, the awning itself is pretty good, but it's easy to get frustrated by what passes for instructions

After waiting many years to get an awning for our back deck , I had to go with something that I could afford. Let’s start off with the positives. I love the coffee brown color. It’s perfect to go along with our decor. After reading previous reviews, I knew the assembly was going to be tricky . Instructions that came with it were unclear . Be prepared to find someone to help you if you are not skilled in assembling large items. Once we had it installed, it was worth the effort. It’s a nice addition to our outdoor space. You definitely need two people to do the instal and they definitely need to improve the assembly instructions.

Negative stars for instructions. Without a doubt the worst I have ever had the displeasure of using. Makes IKEA instructions seem great. Horrific is an understatement. Now that it is installed, I am very happy with it. Their customer service is as worthless as is their instructions. BUT.. for $200 bucks vs $2000.00 for a Sunbrella, I am delighted. I would give it 4-5 stars if they had better instructions and customer service. Funniest part of the instructions is the fact they are written in broken English. You can tell they are Chinese just from the instructions.

This was our first awning so the low price was important. As everyone says the printed directions are not entirely clear but were adequate since there is symmetry for the three main parts. I was able to switch ends of the hand-crank with minor disassembly of the gear unit, and swapping the insert with the other end's hub piece (popped out easily). The hand crank is easy to use, easier on the way out. You do have to retract somewhat if you have gusty winds. We tried to use it in a light rain but water eventually collected near the front rail even though the fabric was taught; I feared this extra weight might pull the awning out of the wall. The hardest part was: 1) locating the studs from the exterior wall, and 2) making the three wall mounts level.

Holy Banana Buckets! I consider myself a fairly intelligent person, but this assemble had me questioning the validity of all my educational endeavors. Now, I wasn’t expecting a “ready-to-go” product to arrive, especially given the price, but I spent about 7 hours trying to just put together the unit, not including the installation. After putting together, taking apart, putting back together, and two adult beverages, I finally got it all assembled. In short, the instructions were not clear and lacked some much needed visuals. I won’t go to much into the instillation because everyone setup will be a bit different. We had to take down some siding and install a few supporting boards before mounting the brackets. Outside of the prep work, the instillation and hand was relatively easy. Definitely need two people to put it up. We’ve had it hanging for about two months, making sure to pull it in when weather is not favorable, and it’s been a lifesaver in the sunny state of Colorado. Overall, the price is right and it looks great and works great when it up. If you normally don’t do well at the assemble phases, call in for reinforcements on this one!

First of all, the instruction is quite difficult to read, most of it doesn't make sense. The installation involved lots trial and error, I ended up taking a really long time to set it up, mostly because I had to fix the error. Once it's done, it was working ok rolling it in and out. Then we heard a loud CRACK: the filmy metal track broke open. The torsion metal arm swung outward, almost hit my kid under the awning. All the effort to set it up have gone to waste, and this has no prime return. 0 star. Update: contact the seller and they offered return OR partial refund for me to hire a handyman to fix it. Giving the difficult of removing everything off the wall and pack it up, i chose the later. Hopefully it can be fixed. Adding back 1 star since they did reply promptly within 1 business day.

I did not realize that this required complete assembly. I was expecting what I had seen in other videos - a long box with a completed awning - but I received a 4ft long box and a whole lot of parts! Not Asoms fault, just wasn't clear when ordering. I have not yet tackled the assembly which will be the most challenging part. I'm sure installing will be easy. Please make sure customers (dumb ones like me and most who don't completely read stuff) that this unit requires complete assembly.
