I have 9 cats and hate scooping cat litter, I would always forget about it or by the time I got off work I’d just head to bed. It was never something I wanted to do. So I started looking for something that I wouldn’t have to scoop daily, but I didn’t want to drop 600 or more on a litter robot. I came across these that were on sale, but was a little skeptical, if the large would be big enough for one of my cats. I’ve had issues in the past where I’ve bought a “large” litter box, but it was too small. These ones were big enough for him! I plan on buying more since the max I could buy was 4. I don’t have to worry about using too much litter, since it has lines, or my cats not having clean litter. It was easy to put together, but the filter seems to pop out a bit. So we got this box bc everyone was getting frustrated with the chore of having to clean the litter box. We actually have three cats. So in addition to this box we have a simple cheap litter box. Our cats tend to use the enclosed one for poop and the open one for pee most times. The litter box works well, but I do have a few cons. The pros: saves time and you don't have to scoop the litter like you would a regular litter box. You roll this box over and tap the bottom to ensure all the litter with urine falls off. Once rolled all you have to do is pull small drawer and throw droppings in bag to throw away. Con: once you roll the box over upside down to tap and get all the litter off the bottle, the top of the box on the inside now has litter residue all over so once a cat goes on and uses the box, the litter leaves a coat of dust on the top inside. Once litter has been taken out and rolled back to original position. I usual take a disinfectant wipe to clean off all the walls on the inside. Also one of my cats likes using the box as a chill out spot. ... show more

    • Excellent manual alternative to a litter robot
My inner circle includes a lot of fellow cat owners. Some have splurged on litter robots that automatically clean litter boxes. While that sounds like a great idea, those machines are so expensive and they jam and the motors break easily. I liked the concept of how these robots clean, however, by basically sifting all the litter. This Omega Paw litter box is a good compromise, with no electronic components that will break. It functions in mechanically the same way, by sifting all the litter into a compartment, and all the large waste solids get deposited into a removal basket. We have been using flushable litter exclusively, and our cat was already using tofu litter. Tofu litter works great in this unit. One thing to keep in mind is that like most cats, ours likes to pee in particular corners, and wet litter can stick to the bottom of the pan. The Omega Paw includes instructions stamped on the bottom of the unit to "tap" the bottom to release the wet clumps. Well, it's not so much tapping as it is forceful whacking with the palm of your hand. Just bear in mind it does take some more force to release stuck-on clumps, and even so, sometimes we have to reach in with a litter scoop to loosen the really stuck-on clumps. The ejection tray is easy to use and holds quite a bit of waste. Easy to deposit in the toilet (in small amounts) and flush. Happy to see that we got the upgraded model with metal clamps to hold the two main pieces of this unit together. I can see how the older plastic clips would be less reliable. The media could not be loaded. I expected more from the product. My biggest issue with it, is that the slotted grate isnt secured well enough, even under filled it will come lose and you have to take the box apart and handle the nasty grate to reposition it between the 2 notches that hold it. The second worst thing about this box is that the box the cat mess falls into does not reach all the way to the back of the litter box, so you actually have to tilt the box forward a quite a bit, and then roll to the side which is very inconvenient. My third complaint is that the solid top on the grate does not fit securely in place, and leaves a small bubble of space open against the edge that you roll towards. Though it hasn't been an issue since the the top latches over it . 4th, is that the latches do not feel very strong, just plastic painted silver, and while theres 4 latches none of them are on the side you roll to clean which is concerning. Should any of them fail especially on the adjoining side you'll have some litter to clean up especially with the bubble of space left from the solid grate top, and lastly the bin for the cat mess is not secure, and is a lose fit so it will fall out when tilting forward which is just inconvenient. I gave this litter box 3 stars, because while it feels cheap and has some structural issues, it works effectively when the grates in place, is a good size, and looks nice. Edit: July 9th 2022 A few weeks after having it, cat jumped on roof it bent in and made a small crackle appear on the side that you roll towards. Litters falls out when I clean it now. My cat isn't very heavy, at most 5/6 pounds. I won't buy again, product is to cheap and weak for price point ... show more
