Purple Haze Purple Haze is a warm, very dark purple dye that leaves purple tones on virgin, unbleached hair. For best results, we recommend lightening hair to medium level 7 blonde or lighter before use. Applying Manic Panic hair color to pre-lightened hair is the best way to assure that you will achieve the vibrant results that you see on our color swatches. Lightening with our Flash Lightning Kits to a pale blonde (level 9-10) will give the most intense results. We offer 3 bleach kits that will lighten your hair: BLUE LIGHTNING 30 VOL, FLASH LIGHTNING 30 VOL, AND FLASH LIGHTNING AMPLIFIED 40 VOL. BLUE LIGHTNING helps remove any unwanted brassiness in the hair, FLASH LIGHTNING AMPLIFIED 40 Vol is our super strength bleach kit, more powerful than the FLASH LIGHTNING 30 vol. All bleach kits will help you lighten your hair according to the instructions in the package. Blend our Mixer/Pastel-izer with any color to achieve a lighter, pastel tint that is totally on-trend. Combine any formula with the Mixer/Pastel-izer to create soft, on-trend pastel hues. This product works best when you use a whole jar of Pastel-izer with just a few drops of your desired color. A semi-permanent direct dye hair color does not contain any harmful chemicals and relies on natural vegan dyes that mostly sit on top of the hair. 1. Wash hair with a deep cleansing/clarifying shampoo. Do not condition. 2. Dry hair with a blow dryer to make sure the hair is extremely porous. 3. Put on gloves and apply Manic Panic Hair Color using a tint brush making sure hair is thoroughly saturated. 4. Comb through the hair color to make sure it is evenly applied. The cream may become slightly frothy. 5. Cover hair with a plastic cap and leave on for 30-45 minutes. For more intensity, add heat. 6. Rinse with cool water away from your face and body until water runs clear. Do not shampoo. 7. Style as desired. To prevent color transfer or bleeding, always make sure your hair is completely dry. Pro Tip: Use a hair dryer to evenly apply heat for 5-10 minutes of your processing time. This will help to open up the cuticle and allow the Manic Panic hair color to better penetrate the hair strand. Make sure to allow the hair to cool completely before rinsing out color.

I originally used the violet night regular formula and it took 6 jars over 4 separate applications and around 16 hours total in my hair to get a very dull and uneven purple that was blue at the roots and since I hated it, I let it fade and ordered this. I only had to use one bottle of this and left it in for an hour and got this perfectly vibrant purple. I'll be interesting to see how it fades, but for now, I love it. Update: it's been about two weeks since I dyed my hair and the color was gorgeous at first, but it's already fading in some spots. The worst part is that the color is literally rubbing off even when dry. I can run my fingers through my hair and they come out purple, I started turning my pillow and couch purple and I straightened my hair yesterday and the plates ended up having a ton of purple gunk on it when I was done. I wash my hair every other day using a color safe shampoo only at the roots and a color safe conditioner only on the ends. My hair wasn't oily at all when I straightened it, so that shouldn't happen. I'm now trying to strip the dye with a strong shampoo and dying over it because I'm tired of it. I won't be buying this color again. ... show more

Survived the first wash on Virgin hair!!!!! Still nice and vibrant!!!! We have tried the classic line and one other brand for my son. Nothing had worked but this high voltage is nailing it! Going to look for my color in this line.

I have never colored my hair a fun color on my own. The most I did was a red box dye once as for fun colors. I have done many blonde box dyes and they never turned out well. The first picture, my “before” picture was about 6 months after I got my hair professionally colored. For the second step, I used Eden Body Works clarifying shampoo. Then I used the Manic Panic Flash Lightning 30 kit to lighten my hair as the instructions suggested. As you can see, my hair was already pretty light but the bleaching kit also suggested it to help your hair absorb the color dye. My hair was significantly lighter afterwards even though it’s difficult to tell in the picture. I actually ran out of the Flash Lightning since my hair is so thick! I decided to proceed with the Manic Panic Amplified Purple Haze because it was supposed to be a darker color and I hoped it would cover up the missed areas. I saturated my hair with the dye and I surprisingly had between 1/8th and 1/4th of the bottle of Amplified left whereas I ran out of the Flash Lightning. I immediately applied heat with my hair dryer for 5-7 minutes then let it process for 1 hour. When I rinsed the color out, it was very light purple water and continued to be for 5-10 minutes. I then blow dried my hair and didn’t even have to use a flat iron because it looked so beautiful! I am very happy with the color and feel. I may update my review as time goes on and as it fades. I am very happy with my results and the pictures do not do it justice. It appears darker in real life, but is beautiful either way! So, let me start by saying I know I technically didn't use this as intended. I have fairly dark dirty blonde hair but didn't feel like bleaching it first, so I went right in with the purple. I mixed conditioner in to make it a little lighter the first time which was my mistake because it came out visible but pretty light and only took about 1-2 weeks to fade out completely. The second time I used a lot more dye and only a drop of conditioner so it stayed a lot better. I had the purple dip-dye for about 4-6 weeks the second time. Of course it started to fade after about 3 weeks, but you could still see some vague purple almost 2 months later. Overall, I was happy with the dye itself and the color purple I got, I just probably should have bleached my hair first for more vibrant results. ... show more

It’s been a while since I dyed my hair, and with quarantine I figured sure! I’ve never gone purple before and it’s always been on the “that would be fun” list. Pros: It was easy to use, color still stayed even without using anything on my hair before, and I really like the color. Cons: I wish I realized it didn’t come with a brush, one bottle isn’t enough for my medium length, thick hair (my bad not their fault), everything in my bathroom is now purple lol. Bleeds a lot, even on my pillow case. The cons aren’t enough to give it any lesss than 5 stars, I’ll post back after seeing how long it last. I would buy it again, although I would buy two. I love this product. My stylist suggested that I use this to keep my purple bright after she colored my hair for me. It works great. It will stain anything it touches. My purple has stayed well for over a year now! I would strongly recommend this for anyone that had their hair professionally colored & wants to keep the color vibrant! I do wear gloves when applying & put it in a shower cap to let it sit while I do other things. Rinse in cold water to decrease the color loss. Be careful for the first day or two after using as I’ve noticed the color will rub off on pillows, clothes, etc. ... show more

This color turns out deep bold purple. It’s true purple not indigo or violet. Manic Panic is a great brand. I’ve never been fancy about putting it in my hair. I kind of saturate the hair like I would with shampoo. It always turns out nice. It will fade with washing. It turns a lighter shade of purple. When it’s too light I just reapply. When it lightens sometimes I just redo streaks to have even fancier hair. This will not completely wash out. It needs to be colored out or grown out. It’s great if you know you want color.
