I ordered one of these with a 40A EV charger, and it worked well twice. After that, the temperature reading on the unit got so hot, 197 degrees, that it shut down and stopped charging my car. I replaced it with the same one, and it worked just once. After that, the button would no longer open the Tesla battery port, and after opening the port manually and inserting the charger into the car, it simply wouldn’t connect. I tried it again with our second Tesla with the same result. I now find myself returning this a second time, and ordering a completely different product.

Recently I bought a charger unfortunately it did break. However, the customer service Rep took great care of the situation and refunded me when Amazon would not because of the time frame. I plan on buying another one, hopefully this one is better

Update 09/23/2024 I would like to provide an update on my previous review of the SEGUMA Model: EV-ACS4003T charger, which had overheating issues. After conducting thorough tests and analyzing the device from my perspective as an electronic engineer, I have determined that this is a design issue. I appreciate the manufacturer's willingness to reach out to me for my recommendations, which I provided in writing. The manufacturer has agreed to make modifications to the device, although these changes have not yet been implemented in the new version. I can report that, after minimal adjustments made safely in my laboratory, the charger meets safety parameters. This device is designed to deliver 40 amps, but it is currently recommended to use it at 32 amps to avoid risks, especially with the 28-foot cable length, which presents a normal loss of approximately 3% within a nominal voltage of 240V. If the manufacturer updates the cable gauge to 8 AWG, it will be able to safely utilize the 40 amps for which it was designed, even with the 28-foot cable, without overheating. The construction of the charger is robust and features an LCD screen that provides clear information about its operation, which is a significant benefit for users. Additionally, I have taken new photographs and thermal images that demonstrate that, following the modifications, the thermal issue has been resolved. I believe potential buyers should consider the specifications of this charger and the manufacturer's responsiveness to user feedback. With the proper improvements, this charger has the potential to be an attractive option in the market. I am willing to update this review again in the future, once the manufacturer makes the changes to the device. Previous review I bought this charger to use with my new 2024 Tesla Model 3 Highland, which I’ve only had for a few days. I have a NEMA 14-50, 240V electrical installation with 6 AWG wire, neutral, and ground, and a 60A breaker. Unfortunately, this charger cannot deliver the 40A, 9.6kW as advertised. The Tesla Model 3 only recognizes 32A from this charger, and it also overheats. I took several thermal photos with varying temperatures in the morning of the cable and charger. I’ve checked everything, and there’s no way for it to work at 40A. I don’t recommend it, as it could be dangerous due to the high temperatures it can reach, potentially causing a fire. Easy working, had no problems with it it deliver 9kw without problem on a 50Amp fuse. Will easaly go to 9.6kW withh a shorter cable, mine is longer than normal.

Power cord is very sturdy construction. Doesn’t overheat even wihen plugged in for many hours. Opens and closes car charge port on car perfectly. Measures a full 28’ as advertised.
