Good charger and fast

Dependable charger and the construction is very durable but you have to pay attention to the housing. Heat protection and very easy to install. Easy to set up and has a carry bag that makes it easy to put away until the next charge. Great for the price.

Good lower cost portable charger. Case is pretty good. Gets 32A of charging rate, which I think is optimal for a mobile charger and you can charge just about anywhere that supports EV charging but higher amperage will usually be wasted as it isn't supported in many places. Good charge rate and connections, material, and build feel and appear high quality.

This is a high quality level 2 charger. I like the addition of a display with basic charging settings and info. For the price this is a very good alternative to the Tesla mobile charger. I would highly recommend this EVSE to anyone who has a nema 14-50 outlet. The release button works just like at the supercharger just press the button on the handle and plug in. Compact design that fits even in the most packed garages.

The Ecogenix 32 Amp Tesla Level 2 Charger is an ok charger because of the size, the material finishes on the cable are good but while the input cable is excellent in diameter at 0.638 inches, the output charging cable is a mere 0.521 in thickness! From my prior experiences there is no way I could recommend a charger that is 32 amps with this cable thickness! This is for a 16-amp charger at best! The heat coming from 32 amps is too much for it and makes the cable get extremely hot as well as the handle gets heated up! The charger feels very solid with a good housing. The cable is a decent thickness at 0.636 inches in diameter, for 32 amps to accommodate for the heat. It does get quite warm while charging at 32 amps. The cord length is great! It has a nice small Tesla connection handle with a decent gripping surface. The charger is smaller than most competitors! It weighs only 6.38 pounds! The handle quality is very good! It has an ergonomic shape to it with some grip. The switch activates smoothly! It is nice that this device includes a digital readout that tells you information from this unit such as time on charge, voltage, and temperature. Sure, the Tesla tells you some of this information, but the temperature is an essential piece of data which it can’t tell you and because there is the ability to put adapters to use with CCS1 and J1772 connections you could use this with something other than a Tesla. This device is plug and play. Though you can go through the menu and set the charge rate that you want it to be at, I see no reason to go down from the top rate of 32 amps if you have it available since it automatically sets it to whatever the top input current rate is. I was using this to charge up my 2021 Tesla Model Y and it was sustaining 32 amps. I have this connected through an extension cable that is coming off of a 50-amp breaker. I love how the data table also breaks down what the different colors mean. The data table on the back breaks down information quite a bit more than competitors. It states that the room temperature range is up to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. This is around the same temperature I was seeing listed on Suidek and Unitek chargers but they were stating it as if it was operating temperature. The operating temperature for this Ecogenix charger is 122 degree Fahrenheit. back actually shows 185 degrees Fahrenheit. This is operating temperature needs improvement because I have seen competing products hit temperatures as high as 141 degrees Fahrenheit in my Texas garage over the summer. The device definitely needs more bandwidth in order to not fall too far outside of the operating temperature because I had an EVDance 32-amp charger that gave out after a while from hitting 141 degree highs and then started throttling the charger down to 118 degrees at the max, which dropped my power transfer rate to as low as 29 amps. I’ll see if this charger lasts. The carrying case is made out of a durable nylon that looks and feels good, and easily accommodates for the size of the charger and cable. It has a nice durable handle as well handle.

Easy to install. So far very sturdy and no issues with charging. I use this at home charger almost daily, saves time and charges fast during the night when I’m fast asleep. Excellent value.

Overall, we are happy with this charger. We picked this up as a travel/backup charger and feel like it was a good choice. The charger feels well made and solid. The cables are heavy and have a good sheath on them. The plugs are well made and fit properly. As we live in a hurricane zone it made sense to us to have a alternate means of charging should we ever have to evacuate. We would buy this charger again. 5 STARS
