There's plenty of portable EV chargers on the market and I've tried out my share. Most don't exactly instill me with the confidence I need to keep them in my trunk. I've seen jumper cables that are more technologically advanced than many of the low end portable chargers I've come across. Now *this* is a definite exception. It's not the cheapest portable charger on the market but actually brings many of the same features I enjoy with my home charging station to the table. I refer to this as a 'portable' charger since that's how I use it. In reality, it offers enough power, functional and features to serve as a primary home charger. As long as you've got a NEMA14-50 outlet to plug into you're ready to go. A bracket is included to hang it on your wall. Home or away you can take advantage of the smartphone app to configure the charger, check performance, update charging status, etc. I wanted to have many of the same options in a portable charger that I do with my hardwired home charger and this is one of the few I've found that offers the speed and convenience I'm used to at home. Even the carrying case for the charger is first rate and significantly more impressive than the cheap bags that many portable chargers include. They even *include* a Tesla adapter while just about every other charger in the world at this price point makes you buy your own. I like that this EV charger has so many safety precautions built in. I wish it had more smart features available outside of the app and that the display on the charger displayed more information. The cord is a good length at 25 feet. To get the most charging power out of this you will want to make sure that you have it wired into a circuit breaker that is rated for at least 50 amps. I would say it charges well, but I wouldn’t call it fast. Having as of late bought a 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV, it turned out to be clear a preferred charger over the included one was required. Chevrolet proposed to introduce a committed circuit to charge the vehicle, however since the house is leased, that is definitely not an extraordinary choice. I found a shrewd splitter, the Neocharge, that would allow me to use the 240 outlet controlling my dryer. It allows you to connect the vehicle on one side, and the dryer on the other. Inherent security highlights hold you back from utilizing both on the double. It was evaluated for 24 amps, the most extreme safe burden for ceaseless draw on a 48 amp circuit. I figured it would step down the vehicle's interest, yet I was off-base. The vehicle actually attempted to pull 48 amps, consistently stumbling the Neocharge. I have tested quite a few electric vehicle chargers and this charger definitely has the ability to do the job very quickly, but it is not the only charger that can do so. This is a Will built electric vehicle charger but it is not a $600 unit in my opinion. Especially when there are hundreds of other companies out there that provide the same options a price that is at least 60% less. I just do not see how this company is justifying charging $600 for this unit. I would give them five stars if they were around The $300 mark due to their extremely high price I have to deduct star and I have half the mind to deduct two stars due to the fact it is priced extremely high.
