So, without spending the 500.00+ for the official 48AMP Tesla charger for my Model 3, I opted for something a bit more modular that I could put on an outlet so if it ever failed I could just replace it. The value for this charger was good. Much cheaper than some of it's competitors. I bought this charger and gave it a test run on my car. I've had this charger for less than a month and it has been dependable. I did have problems when first setting the AMPS to charge my car. This charger is rated to handle 40AMPS max. I thought I would try this charging rate out first. After a time, the charger stopped with a message stating short circuit. At first I thought this might be a defective unit, but I noticed the temperature that it was showing. 132 degrees. Well this is the max temp this charger will run at. So it looks it shut itself down due to the temp. Once I reduced the amperage the temp goes down and the charger stays running. Other than that, this has been a good charger for refueling my EV at a decent price. ... show more

Purchased this unit and it worked great for about two months and then it would lose connection to the car. I did have to throttle the charging speed to the lowest and it worked fine (charging at about 10 miles/hour). After I reached out to Amazon for some help, the manufacturer reached out to help resolve the issue by replacing the charger for free. Read reviews, Looked up stats and schemats, Talked to the companies and the customers of oh way to many makes and models. This one checks all the boxes, Length, Power, Convenience, User friendly, Information given. I didn't up for the wifi model but quick look at it's great display gives all you could want. This charging cord is perfect. The price was a little bit less expensive than most and it works great. It takes just about 2 1/2 hours to fully charge from zero. And it's very portable. I can hang it in my garage or keep it in the trunk to charge on the road. I definitely recommend.

    • Wire size is too small to safely deliver 40A/9.6kW charging
I cannot recommend this product for anyone who is not familiar with electricity. The product is designed to tell the car to pull 40A. This issue is the wires are listed as 8AWG on the cable. This is against the electrical standards for 40A and even more so for a constant 40A supply. The wire should only be used with up to 32A/7.6kW charging, but the unit allows 40A. The result of this is that of the car pulls 40A, the wire gets very warm. This results in less flow of electricity and the car will keep pulling more. My car will often read 45A on the unit. This has resulted in it shutting down multiple times. Unfortunately no company lists the wire size for their EVSE, so it is hard to know if you are getting quality or not. ... show more

96% efficient at 38 amps 240 volts. Works great with my 2019 Tesla Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor. Have been charging it with the car limiting to 38 amps as suggested by other commenters; it’s obvious the line loss increases the amperage from .5-1.5 amps above the Teslas set point, which would trip the charger. So, 38 amps is definitely the sweet spot. I have this charger outdoors mounted to the exterior of my garage where it’s been rained on and in direct sunlight for quite some time with no issues so far. Other than the official tesla charger costing $200, making the value of this charger more expensive than the official counterpart, I would suggest this to anyone requiring a J1772 charging connection. ... show more

Bought as a spare in case the vehicle supplied EVSE failed and ended up putting the manufacturers EVSE back in the car for travelling and use this every day. Only gripe is you need to read the display before unplugging as it instantly zeroes the display once you do. Not a big deal as the car is still charged, but if you are needing out on how many KW you put in the car, it means remembering to look before unplugging. ... show more
