I don't typically write reviews but felt strongly about warning others so they don't waste their hard-earned money. I ordered these for my husband as a Father's Day gift. He'd really been wanting a good knife set so was super excited to give this to him. Do they look nice? Yes, with the exception that the wooden handles on the knives are one color (brownish wood color) and the shears handle is like an orange color, totally doesn't match. We used the knives for less than a month, and they certainly weren't overused-just typical use. One of the knives became super dull in less than a month, I contacted the company and they sent a replacement. Now we've had them for 3 months and they are ALL dull with the exception of the cleaver as we've only used that once or twice. We've tried using the knife sharpener multiple times but that things a joke. I did my due diligence and read all the reviews and figured I couldn't go wrong with this set, I was wrong. $200 wasted and the worse purchase I've made by far. I can only assume the folks that rated this knife set 5 stars did the review shortly after receiving them when of course they were still sharp and worked well. Really wanted to love this knife set, especially since it was a gift to my husband. Unfortunately, they can't be returned as it's outside the 30 day period. The knives are nice and easy to hold specially if you have a bigger hands and the "spine" (metal) is thicker and heavier compared to my other "German Steel" kitchen knives which I like. This helps specially if your cutting large chunks of meat, whole chicken and ribs. I would easily give this 4 stars if not only for the broken lock on the kitchen "shears" that I have received (as pictured). The build is ok but there are a quite few grinding imperfections from "bolster" to "heel" on the steel which is totally disappointing specially if your about to make this as an item to improve the appearance of your kitchen counter top. The block need design improvement, then handle is nice but needs design consistency specifically on the kitchen shears. ... show more

Best knives I've ever used, or owned. I took a chance on a brand I was not familiar with, and glad I did. These knives are SHARP! The construction is top notch and well sorted. The steel is German, flawless, and has held the edge excellently. The handles are real wood, smooth, and finished with a high quality coating. I do a fair amount of food prep, and I these are far above the usual quality of knives for this price. As these are a lifetime investment for me, I hand wash and towel dry after every use. The knife block is functional, and stylish. If you are looking to enhance your cutting experience, I do not hesitate to recommend this set. We purchased the TOU knife set and it was a very nice set, blades were sharp, handles comfortable and material was good. After 6 months the wood handle on cleaver started to crack along the wood grain. Now you can not use the knife because the sharp wood piece presses into your hand. PRO's: I enjoy using this set. This knife set is heavy, but not to heavy for me. It's right amount of knives for me. A 14-16 piece for me might me a little to much because I will not use each piece. These are super sharp. I slightly cut myself the third time I have use these. It only grazed my finger & I thought my cut was deep because of how quickly it just breeze through my finger. Love the knives, I wash and oil them immediately after nearly every use. I get more compliments on these knives than anything else in my apartment. Definitely do not regret purchasing. About one year of light usage and still very sharp (as they should be).
