To understand the value of this scanner, you have to first realize this isn't a true 2-way scanner that will let you operate subsystems, and so for most complex systems, you cannot use the factory service book to step through what the dealer shop uses to diagnose difficult problems. That said, it will do limited 2-way communication with specific subsystems in the car including ABS Bleeding, IMMO, Oil, SAS, BMS, EPB, TPMS Reset, Injector Coding,DPF Regeneration, Throttle Adaptation, Gearbox Reset, AFS Headlamp Reset, Sunroof Reset, Suspension Reset, although I suspect not all of these are supported in every car. The real value is if you own several cars of different makes this is the entire scanner in a solid, well-designed scanner. All of the sudden, the price tag makes a lot of sense. I can confirm that it will pull out the multi-codes from multiple subsystems include body modules, ABS, and seatbelt, and on cars that generally show nothing on a typical code scanner, this pulled in codes from my Ford that were intermittent and were from years ago. And yes, it lets you reset them too. The unit itself is built solidly, and unlike a lot of these diagnostic tools, it has a CPU fast enough so it never seems to lag. People have made a big deal that it pulls the VIN number automatically, okay although that seems like pretty much like every ODBII scanner that costs more than two-tickets to the movies. It has a subscription for updates that is activated when you connect it to the internet on setup, and it appears the subscription lasts for a year. I believe when the subscription runs out, you get no more updates. I'm told by LAUNCH that each additional year costs $75. Looking through the list of cars, the latest models supported depend on the car. So for Ford, it's up-to-date. For Porsche, the latest it supports is 2017. I didn't check every model, but it appears it supports about 48 different types of cars. After you're done with a diagnostic, it gives you the ability to email the link to you, although it goes through the Launch email server. I need to poke around and see if I can point it to my ISP's mail. It would be nice if you could just connect it to a local Google printer and print it out directly (or an IP based printer). The case is very nice as well, and is well padded letting you throw it in the back of your truck. The cables and nice and chunky, and it supports US, UK, and EU type plug adapters out of the box. And the padded case has cutouts for the cables, which is a nice touch. Bottom line, if you own just a single car, probably not worth it for the typical shade-tree mechanic, but if you have 2 or 3 cars and want to dig into the various modules around the car, but aren't willing to go up to the $800-1200 range, this is a good model that will let you do diagnosis on pretty much any car with an ODBII port, and reset the most common types of fault, tire, and maintenance lights on the dash while give you an in-depth look at how your car is running. Used this on a 2017 Land Rover to reset oil service as the method in the Land Rover Manual doesn’t work. Yes, it’s a Land Rover. Tool worked initially and was able to reset the oil previously, also was able to put the e-parking brake into service mode. So in all was happy. Come to do an oil change yesterday, 8-14-2022 and guess what no luck on oil service reset. Tool just simply crashes. No luck on updating, resetting it or anything. Subscription still active too. Buyer beware, it may work initially but then stop. Worst $400 I have ever spent! Wish i could return the piece of junk.

Fantastic for the cost, comparable to the maxlight scanner from matco. Really easy to navigate only took a few minutes to figure out where everything was. Comes with a solid hard case witch is a huge plus since im in a shop and things just magically get smashed in that environment. I used for the first time yesterday on a collision rebuild and was able to eliminate 112 of 119 faults the 7 left being initial configuration of some modules not complete. Unfortunately this does not do airbag reset it only reads and clears the codes. But it does everything else that i needed to make my job that much easier. 9/10 would recommend this to friends.

I did a lot of reading and Google lookups before selecting the LAUNCH Scanner CRP909X. I might have been able to get a cheaper unit but I don't think I would be happy with it when I go to use it on other vehicles. I purchased this unit to track down an ABS problem with a 2015 Jeep. I am somewhat familiar with scanners because I have a programer from another vendor to modify the ECU on my LS3 engine swap. The Launch scanner was easy to update and did a self diagnosis. The vehicle I scanned had more DTCs than Advance Auto told me about during their free scan. I was able to get the car diagnosed and the parts are on order. The only hope that I have is that the unit will be able to work on my new 2021 Silverado some day. The new vehicle computers are starting to be encrypted and manufactures are trying to push everyone over to dealer services only. I will resist as long as I can do it myself. Full Disclosure, I was a dealership mechanic in another life.

Very solid scan tool, have not put it to the test yet but off the bat the quality of this scan tool is very nice, set up for it was very simple and straight forward, the upgrades only took about 20 minutes to download and it was all good to go and ready to use. I played with it a little bit not plugged into a vehicle and there is alot of diagnostic processes to choose from. I cant wait to put this to the test and get to work on any car that comes my way. This purchase also comes with a free Launch CR319 Creader so im looking forward to receiving that as well. Basically a 2 in 1 purchase. All in all im very satisfied with the purchase and would buy more Launch products in the future.
