I've been a mechanic for 13 years and this tool does a fantastic job at a DIY price point. This unit has active tests so you can shut off injectors, reset adaptive learning for most if not all modules, and many more. I would recommend users, who do no have professional training, to be careful about using the resetting and calibrating functions for modules or systems they are unfamiliar with. I almost bought the MK808 but I'm glad I went for the DS808 because the active testing ability makes it worth every penny for someone who works on vehicles often. The tool software is laid out fairly well and I learned to navigate it well within an hour. The quick read function is great and pulls up every code in the body, chassis, and drivetrain. It gives you a easy picture of the current issues with the entire vehicle. And when you click on the code it takes you to the appropriate modules to diagnosis it. Of course this tool does not compete with the dealer tools or other $2000+ tools for commercial shops. But with that being said, this tool will do everything in you can possibly need in your personal garage. I would buy this unit again in a heartbeat,

I bought this scanner to be able to perform a crankshaft sensor relearn and to be able to see misfire counts on different cylinders. It has worked well for me.

I love the user interface of this diagnostic tool. There is promise in the database functionalities, such as maintaining service records for your vehicles. I haven't owned it very long and I have already serviced the brakes on three vehicles. I have also done some diagnostics on a horrible Dodge 2.7L V6 engine (the worst ever!). This unit has allowed me to get my F350 to pass emissions by pinpointing problems in my O2 sensors. All in all i look forward to using this tool. The only major downside to the product is a steep annual renewal fee. The upside is you don't need it to run any of the programs per se, but if they come out with any software fixes than you are out of luck. For the DIY mechanic, i recommend forgoing the subscription until you need it. If you run a shop, than obviously the update is just part of your operating costs.

Great product. Great seller . Learn how to use the tool and follow instructions on the website and guide as to what functions work on which cars and you will be fine. Update after about 6 months of use. So i have to say if anyone is looking to get this then don't hesitate.i have a 2020 toyota highlander and i plugged it in when i first received it and it wouldnt even read the vin, a few months later with a new update and everything from oil reset to epb works. This tool is worth every penny, 08 honda pilot had an issue with srs and abs, this tool did the relearn procedure necessary to clear the light and fix the locking up of wheels issue. So many other examples i can give.

was hesitant to commit due to cost, but finally "reasoned" myself into it and hit the "BUY" button. that same evening of arrival, I programmed two new [amazon] replacement key fob remotes to the single one that came with the truck '07 Colorado........ oh yes ! then a couple days later, read all of the old stored codes in my weekend driver - '09 Escalade....... now we're talking ! (original 02 sensors have completed their svc life).....even if you're not auto savvy - this will pay for itself by minimizing or fully avoiding dealer/shop fees, you need this ! I NEVER buy new cars & let others absorb the value depreciation and recall/defect repair hit(s)......and stick mostly to GM. I'm also skilled and have owned a shop years ago ( first scan-tool was a paperclip ) .........I'm happy with this so far and should be good for a long while on vehicle usability/compatibility [see previous sentence].

It's a great compact tool. Perfect for amateurs to semi pros, or even a first tool for a pro. Professionals generally will have more than 1 scan tool. It can't do everything the more expensive models can do, but can do most of what you need. Not sure of the exact limit of it's bidirectional capability, yet. I mainly use it for ABS diag. So, hoping it can initialize ABS modules, but haven't had the chance to test that, yet. I know my MX808 can't, but the MS906 series can. Not looking to flash any modules with this. These are pretty user friendly, and if you have an issue Autel support will help. I haven't checked what the annual update renewal costs, yet, but the mid tier tools usually cost less than the upper tier tools for update renewals. Will update after some more use.

My experience was with two vehicles: a 2021 Porsche 911 and a 2020 BMW X5. Unfortunately this Scan Tool has a number of issues: 1.) The use of some “Active” (bidirectional) functions particularly pertaining to the PCM must leave little bread crumbs behind that disable the PCM entirely or disable some functions Ex: Volume control, station selection, Car Play Launch Control, etc. Restoring the PCM is a rather circuitous and time intensive process, to say the least. 2.) Many bidirectional functions do not exist or do not work at all or the scan tool reports that the VIN Number is not accurate. FWIW the Scan Tool reads the VIN and it is correctly being read when compared with the actual VIN for the car. 3.) Some of the select-able “Buttons” when navigating their menu driven system are occasionally in German. IMHO, in the scheme of things, I don’t find this to be a major fault. 4.) The Scan Tool has a “Button” to “Delete Data”. Which should clear existing records of accumulated history. Ex: How many times a switch has been closed or opened. I never did find anything this “Button” would actually do. 5.) Etc., Etc., Etc. . I spoke with Autel Technical Assistance. They were very pleasant and were able to retrieve the various screen captures and data logs of the above that I had captured as well as some other items. However, they are pleasantly but relatively clueless. They offered “maybe” a beta software version. Ugh! So in a nutshell their software clearly isn’t quite ready for prime time.
