MK808s has saved me thousands within my first use. bought San-Tool this yr 2023 no more getting ripped off by the dealership for things I can do myself. Even if you're not a DIY person you well at least be able to tell the dealership not only the codes but how to do the job, the dealerships take advantage of anyone who goes in for service with the check engine light on saying, I have no idea whats wrong, I bought this scanner after a good friend told me to stop trusting your service advisor at the dealership. He only tells you customers states, then he rips you off so he can make his commission . well those days are long over for me I've never worked on any type of emissions sys, well this scan- tool not only gave me the codes but allowed me to search right on the scanner helping to find the OEM parts I needed, that can be found right here on amazon and very easy to install for the most part. So easy yet the dealerships charges insane prices for the same thing one can do themselves . The dealerships never will tell you and surely would never show you just how easy some of these fixes are. you'll feel so good kwoing you not only found the fault but you were able to clean area before placing the new part in place, something the dealership would never do.. No more guessing what's wrong with any of my 5 vehicels ever again, once any dealership knows you're the type that keeps up with all the your required repairs and or maintenance they'll always seem to find problems even if it's only a routine oil change.. Note not all service advisor are dishonest people, a very well known dealerships service advisor in my town was the one who told me to get a very nice scanner and put a stop on being ripped off. So after months of doing my research I selected (Autel Scanner MaxiCOM MK808S) this scanner here is way more then i'll ever need, however what I love about this scanner is it's for the basic mechanic on to the very experience mechanic like myself, now I can do minor repairs or the more complex repairs, either way that'll be my choice and not the dealership anymore. Yes you only get one year of free updates for me it still wasn't any brainer this scanner is way better than matco and snap-on by far!!! My only Con is towards myself, when I asked myself what took me so damn long to stop being ripped off and getting a scanner that does so much that it pays for whatever spent just on the first. All I had to do was calculate the cost of parts over the cost of labor and this scan-tool gave me not just my money back but I also dont have the worry about the check engine light coming on, Plus my vehicle passed the state inspection that's still required here in Texas with no faults found. This scanner not only shows you the codes and faults but I personally never gave it a 2nd thought on how a emissions sys works and all the realted components, so not only did this scanner help me fix the problem, it educated me on how the emissions sys works. I have used this on the following vehicles to good results: 2012 Lexus CT200h 2011 GMC Yukon XL Denali 2003 Honda Pilot The older Honda Pilot was a little squirrley because it's and older vehicle and it couldn't automatically determine what modules were available (had options for radar cruise, heated seats, and a few other features only in the newer vehicles), but I was able to find all faults and clear them, or know better what and how to fix something. On the newer vehicles it detected everything but a few parameters and prompted for the necessary information. Once entered it scanned only the available modules and allowed for quick and easy browsing of the various modules, their current status codes, historical codes, and a quick and easy clear and rescan. I was also able to see what VINs were coded into the various modules in the Yukon and see that a few had been replaced with parts from other vehicles. Not a big deal in my mind as long as everything works, but worth being able to see where potential problem areas may be. I've borrowed a Snap-On scan tool from a buddy a few times, but now I finally have my own scan tool for a reasonable price and can work on my vehicles on my own schedule! Poking around the menus and it will be able to do everything I need to be able to, so far transmission diagnostics and brake bleeding are all I would have needed this for, but being able to get into all of the body modules will surely come in handy down the road.

- Bought at a good price on Cyber-Monday - Tech Support has responded to my questions in a timely manner. - Have had this device for over 4 months and there have been several updates already, for various auto manufacturers and for features/interface of the tool itself. So Autel appears to be constantly improving the tool and vehicle coverage - I am a DIY / home user and have found the tool pretty intuitive to use. It proved very helpful in troubleshooting a bad shift solenoid to confirm it was a defective solenoid and not a problem with the PCM - This tool displayed active DTC's for the SIR system on another vehicle, which my old OBDII scanner could not access - It would be nice to have the option to graph multiple PID's individually rather than merged together as this unit does. But I suspect that is likely due to the limited screen space as opposed to the "$1,000 and up" tools with larger screens. For a smaller tool at this price point, merged PID's are better than none at all. - It would be nice to have a search function for PID's when looking for specific ones to display rather than scrolling through all of them to find one(s) you're looking for. You can sort the PID's alphabetically, which does help when looking for the desired PID(s). - Have encountered one bi-directional test I cannot get to run. The error message simply says to make sure all required conditions are met. Would be nice if the tool would advise as to what condition(s) are not being met. So I emailed Tech Support the VIN of the vehicle today to see if they can provide details on what conditions the tool is looking for. - Would buy again Update 2024-09-15: - I have just discovered that there is indeed a search function to find the PID's you want to review in Live Data. There is a tab at the top of the list of PID's which, when tapped will display options including a magnifying glass icon which allows you to type in the name of the information you're looking for ("Throttle", "Trim", etc) - Re: the bi-directional test I could not get to run...Autel tech support responded to my support request and asked that I provide a log file of a troubleshooting session where the test would not work, and gave instructions on how to create and send the file. When I powered up the scan tool to connect it to the truck; there was an update available for the make of the truck I was working on. After the update, the bidirectional test worked, so it appears Autel had already fixed the problem before I could finish gathering data for them to review. I'm liking this tool more each time I use it.

I have the 2023 version. This is pricey, but the savings I have made from not having to go to a dealer/mechanic have more than paid for it. I have a 2012 VW TDI, and it has the DPF clean-out function that I cannot get from a normal code reader. Most recently the engine would not shut off, and after using it and then replacing the primary relay under the hood I spent 1 hour of time and a $20 part on a car that I would have had to get towed to the mechanic.

This thing has honestly been a lifesaver and way more capable than I expected for the price point. If you work on cars regularly, this tool is a huge upgrade over basic code readers. The bidirectional controls and active tests are incredibly useful for diagnostics and troubleshooting. Being able to command components on and off saves a ton of time compared to guessing. It reads all systems, not just engine codes, and the interface is fast and easy to navigate. The OS runs smoothly and feels much quicker than older scan tools I’ve used. The number of service functions included is impressive too, especially for the cost. Only downside is there’s definitely a learning curve if you’re new to advanced scan tools, since it has a lot of features packed in. Overall, amazing value and a very capable diagnostic tool. If you work on your own vehicles or do automotive work regularly, this is a great investment.

Truck drained battery over long storage bcm not Communicating to pcm. Tried to do parameters reset on my 2013 ford f250 but this autelmaxi mk808s can't perform a parameters reset. Not a good scanner. Get a dealer level scanner more high end if you need to perform parameters reset. I then went to FORScan web site, down loaded a free software to my pc and was able to reset my modules Parameters for free and also program 2 new keys, truck ran flawlessly after. Local dealers want $390 an hours in Massachusetts to trouble shoot my truck but first my vehicle need to be towed to dealer. Hope this help the people out there with Ford truck. This Autel scanner did helped me a tow to the dealer from a different incident , because after regular brake fluid changed ABS module need to be recalibrated and force out all the air so the brakes work again and this scanner did that for me and also programed my 2014 honda crv key. I would give it a 5 star if it can reset the parameters on my 2013 Ford f250 starting system fault. But I guessed they saved that function for a $4k to $5k scanners. And Autel please stop contacting me multiple times about this post, your literatures claimed this scanner can do parameters reset and it can't. The scanner are very good for everything else and I am not returning it. So leave me alone! This is a free country and I can rated how ever I feel I am not going to change my Rating, don't claimed this scanner can do parameters reset if you don't want 1 star. Majority of the people out there with vehicle Troubles probably don't need parameters reset, this problem some what notorious to Ford trucks.
