Good scanner. I was a little nervous ordering from Amazon due to the all the previously returned items I've been getting lately, but I'm about 65% sure this one was new. Updates for ALL car brands. Nice, but I really don't need the Ferrari, Maserati and Bentley modules :). Strong bluetooth, works far way from the odb2 dongle. Thought I had 2 bad pixels, but it turned out to be the screen protector, which I peeled off and replaced. Fast, produces a nice report.

First, study up on scan tools. Know what they are, and what they are not. Second, I bought the Phoenix Plus, not this "2" version. Kinda bad mojo to change the listing to the "2" in my purchase history... It's NOT what was purchased. This was bought on Amazon, I immediately registered my unit with AutoAuth, which Amazon Autels won't do. So that was a relief. So setup was fairly fast and simple. If you're working on any 2017+ Fiat/Chrysler stuff, buy an Autel from a real dealer (not Walmart or Amazon, I suggest aeswave(dot)com) or buy a Topdon (again, I bought my unit on here, after talking to Topdon about the whole AutoAuth thing with Autel.) I got this unit for $962(real short sale, like a 24hr offer) I wish they would update to a newer version of Android and allow Play Store. But for Android 10, it's plenty fast enough. I chose this over the Phoenix 2 mainly for it's screen size, ram and processor, essentially the only differences. The Phoenix 2 isn't explicitly listed on AutoAuths site either, but they have an "others" sub catagory in the models. So maybe it can be registered, I don't know 100%. Sellers will tell you whatever you need to hear to sell units, so I'm trying to offer my knowledge on this... I'd choose the Plus vs the Phoenix 2 again, as the screen alone is needed if you look at much in the wiring diagrams online. This is NOT designed to do module programming on USA models, there is no passthrough vci. It's a VERY capable and very quality built device, but it's not the "one device does everything" solution. For most of us, it's plenty. Passthrough vci alone is like $1500, and requires subscription to dealer services for software, and a bunch more stuff. This is NOT the tool for programming USA models. Again, research will help you understand this... Research research research. Briank100 on YouTube does reviews, actually good comprehensive ones for an old duffer, he does a bunch of different ones. I avoided Launch, due to not knowing what special functions were free and ones you had to pay for... Autel has no USA warranty or supported by AutoAuth unless you buy from a USA dealer. Xtool makes nice units, but again, no AutoAuth, requires a bypass cable for FCA. Same with Foxwell (I own a bt809ts). Foxwells are ok, built nice, old Android firmware though. The ads say they support AutoAuth, they don't. You have to use a gateway bypass cable. (Tearing the dash apart to find to begin with) The renewal is $549/yr for the Phoenix Plus after your first 2 years. OVERALL, good unit. Probably overpriced like the others. Free 2 years of updates. Probably buy a new one after 2 years. 2 years of updates will buy a new unit alone, so.... Buy one. I think you'll be happily surprised. After 2+ years, everything works fine. Did not get a subscription, everything (except coding) still works, including Autoauth. I found 99% of the updates over the last couple years we're MOSTLY Chinese or other Asian cars not heard of in the USA.

I have been seeing the TopDon Phoenix Plus shown in various auto repair videos I have been watching on YouTube. A couple of the guys I follow have been using it and singing its praises, so I decided to put it at the top of my research list. Completely intrigued with Topology view and knew my next scan tool would have to have it. I was really pleased with the idea if 2 years of free data updates, function for the dollar AND the scan tool would continue working even after the update period expired, just not adding new model years. I love the big bright screen vs. a handheld the size of my phone. Now that I bought it, I have already done Vanos adaptation on a Mini Cooper timing chain job, re-coded the VIN into a salvage yard ABS module for a Town and Country and it has helped me narrow my trouble down to the TIPM on a Chrysler Aspen that has been giving me trouble. I am pretty sure I should be able to VIN code a salvage replacement TIPM as well. Being an advanced Hobbyist mechanic, I was glad to be able to get into such a high end, bi-directional, near OEM level scan tool without breaking the bank. The money I have saved on just two projects, by not paying the dealer for the Mini/Vanos Adaptation and Chrysler/ABS coding, the tool has already repaid about a third of the purchase price in a week. A few days after registration, Tech Support even reached out to see if I needed anything... was kinda surprised by that one, not many companies proactively seek you out to see if you need anything.

Have been using this tool in my professional automotive repair shop for a few weeks now and it has been absolutely fantastic. This scan tool has all the features of the tools from the tool trucks but at a fraction of the price. AutoVIN feature automatically pulls up the Year/Make/Model of the vehicle you are working on and have yet to have a car that this didn't work with. Topology scan allows you to do a complete diagnostic of the vehicle, then save and email pre scan reports, post scan reports or just standard diagnostic reports. The reports have all your shop information on them, you can include pricing, etc. Tablet runs on android with chrome installed so its a breeze to go right from the codes into our shop data platform to start diagnosing the car. We use web based prodemand and it runs perfectly on the tablet. FCA access works flawlessly as well! This scan tool has become the backbone of my shop and has not skipped a beat yet. Highly recommend this tool. Don't let the price fool you, this tool has all the features and capability of the tools for 5x the price.

So far , so good. I used it a few times and seems to operate as advertised. I used it on a ladies car at work,car started out as a crank sensor, she had someone replaced that, and for some unknown reason still wouldn't start. used this tablet again this time a immobilizer code appeared.. took 5 minutes to scan showed the antenna coil on the ignition/ key fob not communicating with the ECU. She took it to the Toyota dealer they changed 2 1/2 hrs diagnostic work and the same code as this topdon phenox plus 2 had discovered. Over $500 into the tow and their work she knows 100% what it is now still has to buy the part and fix reprogram the key fob ... I was driving out of state with only an hour to help her out so I couldn't do the work. So this tool is definitely a good tool in your garage to have. Wish I could afford the oscillating scope or the T ninja box another $600 -/+ each but paired up with this tablet would be a great addition. The plastic case could have been made better but for the price not too concerned about it

One of the best scan tools out there. Have had my scantool for almost a year now and love it. Have used snapon and Autel in the past but absolutely levels to TopDon, have had no issues so far. Use this a lot for electronic parking brake maintenance mode / brake replacements, use this a lot of different chassis calibration. Was even to program keys on a 04/07 Honda Civic and Odyssey. Was able to custom/ personalize settings in my lexus like windows going down with the unlock button. Reads all modules. Topography is a game changer for network / module communication issues. Has most catalog PIDs you need and then some. Output control is great to use as well. Definitely have made my money back from purchasing this scantool. Can't see my self using any other scantool in the future. Going to upgrade to the best TOPDON scantool in the future

So far itโs been awesome .. Iโve been forcing myself to use it on every car as my go to scan tool to get used to it and almost every time Iโm able to do what I need . Active tests are great, data stream readings and graphing is smooth and fast , simple maintenance resets on all makes and models is easy and enjoyable . Easy to use and the topology features is awesome ..have been able to get into every module in pretty much every vehicle .. biggest draw back for me is that AUTO AUTH is currently unavailable for the this scan tool.. I work on all makes and models and I get newe herb dodge and Chrysler with the secure gateway .. and I have to go back to my other scan tools to get in and do what I need to do.. both TOPDON support AND AUTO AUTH customer service say theyโre waiting on info from each other .. so looks like it should be compatible but kno one knows when. Over all great tool and if/when auto AUTH gets going it will make it that much better .
