My hair was natural except for some balayage blonde on the ends. I bought this to cover the balayage and try something different! I’m really happy with the results! I bought two packages of hair color in order to do my whole head. My hair looks healthier on the ends. I do think the color shows up a bit warmer than expected (but I ended up really liking that). It’s also fairly subtle and the iridescence shows up more in sunlight. I thought the purple tone would fade quickly but it’s held up well over several weeks. I wanted a deep cool violet. I got weird lighter result. This made my hair LIGHTER not darker. It also colored VERY uneven so I have little clumps of very purple hairs around my ears, but on too of my head it was lightened not the dark purple I wanted and expected. I liked the scent of the oil packet. The grey coverage was decent. But I won't buy this again. The color simply is not what the box claims. ... show more

Hit or miss with this one. The Cool Amethyst is my favorite color- I’ve been using it for about 5 years now. I’ve noticed that if it mixes up a pale yellow color initially, it doesn’t dye my hair. I then have to buy another box & try again in 3 days. If it mixes to a darker yellow initially, it does a great job. Idk if people are selling old bottles or what. This dye has jumped from $9 to almost $16 in the past year, so taking a chance that it won’t do the job isn’t acceptable. I already have to recolor every 3 weeks or so. I will likely go back to dark brown due to this issue- which is sad. I’m pretty disappointed. ... show more

The seller was great, no problems there. unfortunately this color does not last. I have used L'oreal products for longer than I would like to admit and this one is terrible. The first time it washed out I thought I did something wrong so I did it again and left it in for longer and it still washed out. The third time I was very carefully, didn't wash it for 48 hours and used color last shampoo and conditioner. Lasted 5 days. It stays well in new growth but not in anything that has been colored before. Same thing for my daughters hair, it actuality looked as if it stripped her hair of all colors. ... show more

I honestly get compliments on my hair color every single day with Loreal Cool Amethyst. One day at work I literally received 7 compliments. People stop me in stores to comment on my hair. I LOVE this color and brand and will use it as long as they make it! I am 61 with natural dark brown hair which is mostly gray. I've been coloring it to my former natural shade for years, but started to feel like I was "aging out" of dark brown. And, I could never find a shade that covered my roots fully so it always looked like I had two-toned hair. I tried a few other non-traditional colors but nothing came out right. Then I tried this shade-- Cool Amethyst-- and it looks fantastic. It completely covers the gray while blending in well with the parts of my hair that are still dark brown. It lasts a long time.
