I have had one of these for over two years, and just bought another. These brooder plates are much safer than a traditional heat lamp, and use much less electricity while allowing the chicks to get as much heat as they want without making them too hot. They are adjustable, so I have one set up higher for the older chicks and one lower for the new ones. They seem to be durable and waterproof for cleaning the tops, and are incredibly easy to use. Just plug it in and forget it. Get a good quality brooder such as this one and you will have no problems. The warming panel works great as a whole. The panel does not go at a diagonal slant as shown in the picture. This causes a little bit of an issue when you have some chicks growing faster than others. It provides a comfortable heat as a whole.

I purchased two of these in early March. They arrived with no issue, on time and as expected. I used both of them shortly after they arrived and they both worked great. It's now less than three months later and I have a need to use them again. One is working and is heating. The other one will not heat up; I have followed the troubleshooting tips, and it is still not working. It is frustrating that now I have to purchase another heating plate in order to keep my hatching chicks warm. I will not be purchasing another one of these though. ... show more

I put this on top of my budgie and cockatiel cages. They love it. Never to hot. Comfortable warmth year round even if I have the AC on in summer for my birds.
