  • Easy To Put Up, Gets The Job Done
I bought two of these at the same time. I received 4 boxes in the mail (a Box A and a Box B for each run) within 3 days. All pieces were within the boxes, not a single pole, bolt, wire or tool was missing. The directions are simple, primarily just pictures with the parts for that step labeled, but they're easy to understand. Putting the poles and joints together only takes about 15-20 minutes, maybe less with help. They snap together easily and flawlessy and they feel as sturdy as any standard metal dog kennel would. Once the whole structure is up, it's sturdy and doesn't wiggle much at all when intentionally shaken. The doors require some assembly and that alone takes longer than putting the rest of the poles together. I would have preferred the door been a single piece rather than 4 separate poles that you essentially clamp together. The method to put the door together does make it pretty sturdy too, however, it can be difficult to get the door and the frame for it square. It took us a lot of readjusting to get it just right on the first run we put up. The second one went a little bit smoother since we knew what we were doing, but it still would have been nicer for the door to be all one piece. Chicken wire is only good for one thing and that's keeping birds in. If you live in an area with predators or stray dogs that could be a threat to your birds, don't even bother using the wire that comes with this kit. Just save yourself the heartache and buy hardware cloth. Or use the chicken wire temporarily, or even under the hardware cloth, but don't treat the chicken wire that comes with this kit like a permanent solution. We went ahead and installed the chicken wire and will reinforce it ourselves. The wire is very easy to install as the roll is tall enough to cover the whole front and back without having to stitch pieces together. To do the sides and top, you just toss the roll overtop of the whole run. Generally easy, maybe a little difficult for shorter folk like myself but still easy compared to alternatives. You can use side cutters to cut the chicken wire where needed but the easiest tool I've found for cutting chicken wire fast and smooth is a set of tin snips. We did not use the included zip ties. We bought a bulk bag of 1000 heavy duty, UV resistant zip ties and we zip tied the crap out of both runs and still had a couple hundred zip ties left over. I've used such zip ties on outdoor projects for years and they almost never fail so I plan to keep using them. I'll use the ones that came with this kit for indoor or personal use. All in all, two competent people can have the whole run put together and covered in wire in a few hours, maybe 3-4 hours. It's painfully easy to put together and if the metal is anything like dog kennels (which it feels to be nice, sturdy, but hollow metal poles) it will easily last 5+ years with zero maintenance. Compared to a wooden run we built 6 years ago that was rotting and collapsing in spots, this was easier to put together, looks better, and with the price of lumber right now it was a far cheaper option. The only way to make it better would be to offer just the frame without the chicken wire for a cheaper price so that folks could cover it with their own material such as hardware cloth. This was an excellent purchase, it arrived very quickly and the seller even sent a message after I purchased them containing the individual tracking numbers of all four boxes. I would definitely buy this product again and would recommend the seller. ... show more

  • Solid product, ample space, super customer service
Pattern Name: 1.26’’Diameter Size: 19.68’ L x 9.84’ W x 6.4’ H
I purchased the larger version ((10' L x 20' W x 6.4' H) metal coop to use as an outdoor run for 10 chickens, and it serves that purpose perfectly. The coop is built with solid quality and passed the recent test of hurricane Isaias in New York. I chose the larger version because of the 1/3 space it added to the shorter version: 1) chickens certainly like more room, 2) there is ample space to put the sleeping coop inside, 3) tools etc can be stored right inside the run, 4) the larger version is only $66 more than the shorter one, 5) it can be used easily as a vegetable garden. The installation of the frame is super easy. I think you can have it set up in 15 minutes. It took a while to install the hardware cloth but it is well worth the time to keep predators out. The install of cover is a breeze. I did get one additional tarp from Costco to cover the rest of the run (wish I can have the same cover ties coming from the coop for my Costco tarp cause it is so convenient to lock up the cover/tarps) and the setup works well during hurricane Isaisa. Overall, I am very satisfied with the product and highly recommend it if you have you enough space in your backyard. Last thing to mention is the superior customer service from LKF USA. I purchased the coop at a higher price ($428.88). Whenever the price dropped (3 times so far), LKF will help to re-adjust my purchase price with a short message - even though I felt a little embarrassed to ask every time the price dropped (but hi you also don't feel good if you purchased same run at higher price :-)). To be honest, the larger version is priced about right even at my original purchase price of $428.88 compared economically with the shorter version selling at $335.99. In the end I paid with the current lower price. ... show more

  • Sweet chicken pen/run
Pattern Name: 1.26’’Diameter Size: 19.68’ L x 9.84’ W x 6.4’ H
Update: It's been several months since my original review, still love this chicken pen! I bought a second one a few weeks after my original review and both are holding up well. We havent had too much trouble with predators, other than hawks trying to fly in through the roof of the coop (they failed) and 3 stray pitbulls that decided my chickens looked tasty. The dogs did chew a hole in the fencing and unfortunately I lost one of my younger pullets before we were able to chase the dogs off. Plan on replacing wire with hardware cloth in the near future. Construction on our permanent coop is still on hold due to weather and terrain issues (We're trying to get hold of a Bobcat to finish digging out the trenches for the perimeter fencing). So it looks like these pens will be our main housing in the meantime. The chickens love them, we connected the 2 together after the dog attack and cut a hole between them and wired a tunnel to connect them, so now the whole flock has more room and can all be together. Probably will be buying a third one in a couple of months if we are still having construction delays. Once our permanent coop is done I'm planning on having one or 2 of the pens inside the fencing, along with a proper coop and maybe use a third one as a chicken tractor. This is a great chicken run so far. Yes, the wire is thin, but it's not designed to be a coop! I'm using it as a temporary coop/run due to delays in building my permant coop and run (Didn't take into account how HOT summers are in Georgia!). I've added additional tarps to protect my chickens from storms and added more heavy duty zip ties all around with wood poles laying down around the bottom of the frame. I would purchase this run again. I would have given it 5 stars except for the issues I had with the door. The diagram was hard to figure out for the door. I could not figure out how to assemble the frame and door without drilling additional holes in the tubes I had to borrow a drill and buy a 7/32 titanium drill bit. The pieces of metal that screw the door and frame together have two different size holes. Unfortunately the poles did not come pre-drilled for the smaller holes. I had to buy screws, nuts and washers. The instructions (diagrams only) are pretty easy to figure out until you get to the door. Other than the door assembly, this is a sweet pen/run. I'm currently housing 61 pullets and cockerels in it until my permant coop/run is completed. They love it! ... show more
