  • DESIGN FLAW: No Human being can type in a ong password IN-TIME.
Size: 64GB Style: datAshur PRO
This was my first DATASHUR product purchased. One CRITICALLY important thing NOT MENTIONED in the product description is that there is a TIMEOUT period of 10 seconds to completely re-type in your newly-chosen password. Since it does allow for alpha-numeric passwords as long as 15 digits, and because it also requires +2 terminating keypresses to finalize your new password selection, this means that you have to actually press SEVENTEEN buttons in less than 10 seconds. (Thats 0.58 seconds per button press) I did try to enter a complete 15-byte password, and was totally UNABLE to make it in time, even after a dozen attempts. Then I tried 10 letters (+2), and could only make it reliably if I WROTE DOWN the password (as DIGITS) furst, and entered it that way. Even so, I couldnt make a 10 digit password in time about 2/3rds of the time. In the end, I had to pick a minimum password length of SEVEN to make it reliably. FINAL verdict, Im quite dissatisfied with the silly 10-second limitation. I think this clearly want Human-Factors tested. There is no way a reasonable person can get 17 key-strokes in within 10 seconds, and practically no way ANYONE can get even a short password in if they have to lift their fingers to find out which numeric keys have the 3-4 specific letters on each key. Forcing users to either pick SHORT passwords, or else WRITE DOWN their passwords (in numeric form) before attempting an unlock seem 100% contrary to the main selling point of these encrypted devices. Aside from the silly timeout period, and de-facto short password solution, I guess Im happy with my purchase. BUT, buyers should be cognisant of the issue, or else the manufacturer should FIX this problem in future releases. ... show more

  • Loss data
Size: 128GB Style: datAshur PRO2
Dear customers! Be careful with this USB drive. It worked for me for 1 week. And it's not that it broke, he destroyed all my sensitive data. The user manual says that the disk destroys the data after entering 10 times the wrong administrative password in a row. Keyword “in a row”. This is not true. There are 3 counters built into the disk: 10 times for the administrative password, 10 times for the user password and 1 time for the recovery password. That is, if, for example, during the course of a year or two years, you accidentally entered the wrong administrative password 10 times, then the disk erases all data without warning, you won’t even know that something went wrong and that the number of attempts ends. The counter runs cumulatively and is not reset without loss data. When you see this disk for the first time, start using it, learn to manage it, it is absolutely natural that you or your user can make mistakes. But this leads to fatal consequences. Technical support cannot help, they do not have a secret recovery code, even a one-time one. Even if you are registered with them on the web-site as a disk administrator. One could envision the generation of a one-time code depending on the serial number and other administrator data. I also note that button presses and firmware work are very unstable. For example, in one session, you enter the password and the disk does not open (you count 1 unsuccessful attempt by the counter) for an unknown reason, the next time you enter the same password, the disk opens correctly, but the counter of failed attempts increases by 1 and does not reset. I don’t understand why this disk is needed at all. Decide for yourself, I’m out of luck. ... show more

  • Datashur Pro is cheaper than Kingston, but not as reliable
Size: 64GB Style: datAshur PRO
I have to say, shipping was extremely fast. The product looks solid, but not so user friendly. I bought this Datashur Pro 64g because my kingston DataTraveler 200 32g ran out of space, and since its is cheaper, might as well try it. It looks completely dentical, but user friendly wise, kingston is much easier to use. DataShur PRO doesnt let me change the default password, no matter how much i tried and how I tried it, it just doesnt work. Changing the intervals and speed of presses doesnt work at all. So after an hour of trial and error, i just stuck to the default password rather than damaging it. I give this a solid 3 stars, but i will update if the item breaks on me or overheats, as the other people are saying. UPDATED to 1 Star - after transferring 3 videos with a total of 1.2gb, it stopped letting me transfer more video. It would say downloading finished, but they never show up in the drive. Wasted money ... show more

  • Important Hint on How to Change Default PIN
Size: 4GB Style: datAshur PRO
I just bought this, and I struggled for half an hour with changing the default PIN. Here's how I did it: 1. Press KEY button 2. Enter existing PIN 3. Press KEY button twice <-- press twice at MEDIUM or FAST speed 4. Enter new PIN 5. Press KEY button twice <-- must be FAST double press 6. Repeat new PIN 7. Press KEY button twice <-- must be FAST double press The problem is that when I was doing the KEY double-press at Step 3, I was doing it at a speed of about two presses per second, and the device accept that. However, when I was double-presses at that same speed for Step 5, the device rejected it. I didn't figure out that the Step 5 double-press had to be done at a much faster rate. After that, the device seemed to be working just fine. However, the documentation is not clear about the double-press speed. It's bad user design to accept a slow double-press speed first but then only a fast double-press speed later without telling the user why. ... show more
