    • Worth it if you need the increased security
Size: 4GB
Very nice, very beefy, very well made. It's not small, so if size is a huge issue, that might be an issue. Granted, it's not enormous (that's what she said), but neither is it tiny (in comparison with other USB drives of similar capacity). It is fairly easy to use, not that complicated, but the PIN is required before you can access the files. If you plug it into your USB port without entering the PIN, nothing happens. Your computer won't even detect that the drive is there. Once the PIN is entered, it works like any other USB drive. File transfer was fast and easy; lightning fast. The price was higher than other USB drives of similar capacity, but if the security is needed, the price really balances itself out. This thing is HACK PROOF. Unless someone has a supercomputer and a team of expert data recovery specialists, they are not getting into this thing without the PIN. The self-destruct feature may not be needed, but it's nice to know you can wipe the drive to avoid your data getting compromised. In short, if you only need a USB for routine use (school, family photos, etc), this might be overkill. If you need security, this thing is your Huckleberry! Update: add to description "will survive washer and dryer". After letting it dry out for a few days, it works fine. Not that I'd recommend doing this repeatedly or on purpose, but this thing is tough! Bloody brilliant! ... show more

    • Security and Convenience at a reasonable price
Size: 128gb
After researching several options for secure, encrypted, and tamperproof USB storage I ended up going with the iStorage datAshur Pro 2 secure USB flash drive. I have owned an IronKey 16GB Drive for 8 years or so and absolutely love it, BUT the cost for a 128GB IronKey Drive was nearly 5X the cost of this drive. I've read reviews on this product and had initial concerns about the keyboard, complexity of set-up, and the outer dust cover. Take the 5 minutes to read and follow the instructions and the set-up is absolutely straight-forward (dare I suggest easy). The keyboard is small, but very tactile and has distinct feedback when each button is pushed. The outer case seems fine to me, but I won't be attaching to a keyring for everyday carry. As suggested when reading the capabilities of this device, it is a very secure USB storage device, but it does not offer an online encrypted back-up should the device be lost, stolen, or destroyed. The IronKey does offer online encrypted backup, but at a very steep price differential. In fact, you could buy several of the DatAshur devices (conceivably for backups) for the cost on one IronKey. Clearly not as convenient as an encrypted online option, but for most people I think is a great solution. As a data conscious and technology-astute user, I highly recommend the datAshur PRO2 - Secure Encrypted Flash Drive ... show more

    • Horrible product that doesn't even work! Waste of money. AVOID!
Size: 4GB
I should have returned it when I discovered no matter what I did, I could not get this to work. Tech support never followed up with me either. It's the most convoluted setup of any device I have ever owned. I should have sent it back but life got in the way and it went in a drawer until this weekend. I tried setting it up again to no avail. I will pull out my husbands biggest hammer and pulverize this piece of junk. Save yourself some money and aggravation. ... show more

    • Rugged & Quality Option for USB Flash Drive with Tons of Setup Options
Size: 128gb
This review is for iStorage datAshur PRO2 128 GB USB-A Secure Flash Drive. This is the first time that I have needed a password protected flash drive. After much research there were about three brands that came up as reliable. This was the lowest price of the three that had a cover and was dust/water resistant. I only needed to use this once and was giving it to the other person and was not planning on getting it back, so I didn't want to go crazy on the money. The case is a very strong aluminum body with aluminum cover. The cover seals up very tightly and the lanyard loop is a part of the metal body, so no chance of it breaking off. Make sure you follow the directions. The PDF manual that in the USB drive is far more extensive that the small paper manual they include. There are an insane number of security options and setups that you can do with this drive. Make sure you follow the instructions. The first step is to let it charge up in the USB before setting up. Some of the setup options are easy, but others are quite tedious. You have options for an admin account and user accounts on it. Even options for deleting the data. It has a robust set of options, but I have no idea who can memorize all of them. I just went with the basic admin account setup. I wish the device was a bit more straight forward. Perhaps the issue is I am not experienced in using secure USB drives, so I am not familiar with required security needs. The one thing I find annoying and would sometimes forget is that you have to press the arrow button for a second to turn it on, then press key button, then put in the password, and then the key button again to unlock. It seems like too many steps, but it probably has to do with the number of security options. Overall, it's been a good drive. If I were using it for personal use, I might consider one of the other ones with easier usage options, but as mentioned prior, since I am not a regular user of secure drives there might be very legitimate reasons for all the security setup options. ... show more

    • Very valuable when you need to take sensitive data in the field
Size: 4GB
This works great and is very easy to use. This completely eliminates the risk of taking confidential data in the field. Even if you lose it, it will "self-destruct" after whoever finds it tries to unlock it a few times.

    • Relatively Steep Learning Curve - Not for everybody
Size: 4GB
Pros; Very Secure Pretty Cool Cons: Slightly steep learning curve. Setup is and options are multi-step. A bit pricey An encrypted flashdrive might be just fine for most people's use. Make sure that any emergency user can figure out how not to destroy the secure data if they need to use the stick!!!!! ... show more

Size: 16GB
I have rarely purchased a product that offers the wow factor and the iStorage datAshur Pro2 does just that. A small, simple, secure and elegant product. A product that protects all my confidential data and gives me peace of mind that if it is lost or stolen then at least my data is safe. I love all the new security features so I will definitely purchase more of this product as well as recommending the higher capacity drive to my friends and colleagues! I am now iStorage’s number 1 fan!! ... show more
