One was not enough. I loved it so much I ordered two. One was not enough to block out enough of the suns rays (it might be for you) so I ordered another one. Then it was perfect. With two it does let in the rain but only a drip in the center of the shade. I use this feature to collect rain water for my plants. One shade was not enough to stay dry in a light rain. Even in a hard rain, two are not enough to keep you from getting wet. Sorry. But it does lower the temperature on the patio by 10 degrees and makes it enjoyable to sit under.

Let me start by saying with the cost of building supplies the past 2 years we haven't been able to build a roof over our deck like we wanted. We ended up ordering one of these sun shades as a quick fix. It does the job! We have no trees in our yard so it's hard to find an area to cool down and this looks great. It's not completely waterproof but it works decently when it rained the other day what came through the sun shade was a fine mist. I would buy it again.

Would highly recommend getting a different way of securing this for whatever you are using this for. The rope that comes with it is not very durable and won't last at all. This product is good for shade and doesn't move much when windy. So not a bad buy.
