The product is bulky and needs lifting support, single person may struggle to prop it up steadily. Why fabric width is smaller than listed size? Listed full width includes mounting frame. Actual fabric is 2 inches narrower. Size marked for overall installation span, ensures normal fitting. Can it be installed without overhead ceiling/eave? No. Firm support between ceiling/eave and floor is mandatory for installation. Can the awning be used on windy days? Not recommended. This awning is only designed for light breeze up to level 2 wind. Please retract the awning fully on windy days, it’s only suitable for calm summer weather. Can this awning block rain for my back porch? After reading several poor reviews, I came across one that suggested I ignore the bad reviews because they seem mostly like idiots that can't figure out which end of a screwdriver to use. I concur. I bought this awning, studied the project and doubted that the friction method for securing it would be enough. I was right and had supplies on hand to fix the poles to my wood garage with the use of some Stainless Steel Bimini top anchors (6 for $9.99) and heavy duty zip ties (7 bucks). It's perfect. I installed this awning by myself and was well aware that there are plastic parts that could break if put under too much stress. You just have to be careful how you handle it. Those who complain about it being "cheap plastic" are simply ignorant of how to respect what you're working with. The plastic is perfectly fine for it's intended use but if you allow the leverage of an 8 foot pole to pry against it, it's gonna break. So, my rating of this awning is, it's absolutely a wonderful value, easy to open and close, and as long as you have some common sense, installing is not a big deal. If however, you lack the basic skills to assemble products like barbecue grills and tents, you're not going to get away with a nice value like this. Be prepared to come up with a plan to secure the poles to your building because the tension set up is NOT a very secure design for long term use. It IS, however very convenient in holding the awning in place while you secure it more permanently using other means. Also, it is a light fabric and I wouldn't suggest using it to escape from the rain. It is made for shade, not to keep you dry during a monsoon.

Great awning! Prevented flooding during recent heavy storm events. Put it up over a doorway with a high roof overhang and it worked well! The awning material is waterproof and durable. The frame is sturdy and very stable. Putting it together was simple if you followed the printed instructions. Watching some of the videos before assemble helped understand the process and how to work the awning. A very good value and alternative to getting a permanent door roof built! Bought a couple more in various sizes to protect sides of patio!

This went together quickly, and works very nicely to shade our small deck. We roll it up when it's unused, to avoid it becoming a sail in the wind or getting worn by sun. It is a little persnickety to get adjusted just right, but it's very adaptable to different circumstances. We will probably follow the advice given in another review, and add plumbing-type brackets to affix the uprights to our brick wall, just to make the whole thing even more stable. Overall, quite pleased with the purchase: it makes our little deck feel very luxurious. Note that you do need a large area to assemble it in: we did it in the yard and then carried it up onto the deck, as our deck is too small to do it there. It's quite light, so that wasn't a problem. I wouldn't advise trying to do this single-handed: it really needs two people.

Instructions are not fun... I guess they get you on the right track but in my opinion it felt more like they'd just reference "connect h1 to h2" and then it's just up to you to figure out what that even means lol. Maybe I'm just dumb but it took maybe 30 minutes to set up. Works good. I have no complaints. I will say it feels very flimsy/cheap but it looks just fine and I have confidence this will last at least 2 years, much longer if you just leave it alone.

Had a little trouble at first. Slipped away from wall and twisted bolts. Rental apartment had no secure soffit to expand against. Have to remove arms to roll it up so I can see outside. Sun comes through sides so not as shady as I expected.

Very easy to install, but it does take two people. It works perfect for our new home as a temporary awning until we build the roof to the porch but now that I have this, I’m not in a rush to get the roof built. Sturdy, well-made, clear instructions, and definitely gives some shade in the afternoon

This awning works okay except for one big flaw - the adjustable angle bracket that is at the end of each arm broke the very first time I tried adjusting it!! On both sides! I am going to try to return it but will need to take it apart and rebox so not very happy. If they had a simple single arm on each side without the angle adjustment at the end I would be totally happy and keep this awning happily, but unfortunately that angle bracket being broken is a problem. Not sure how to reach out to the company directly but hopefully someone follows up with me before I return it.

I am pleased with the awning. I am using it on a 3rd floor apartment balcony that gets the late afternoon and evening sun. It helps keep out most of the heat without making my living room too dark. I saw videos that said it could be installed by one person, but I used two people and I think that is a better recommendation. I do not use the awning if the wind is above 20 miles an hour.
