If you’re very deaf that is a super product
This is an update of a prior review. I tried expensive Hearing Aids around $2000. but I never got enough volume to actually distinguish speech. Although it removed all background noise, volume was neverloud enough. Then, when i turned the volume up, there was aloud screech and whine that was deafening but again I was was not hearing voices. I tried cheaper hearing aids. They also did not give me the volume needed for someone as deaf as I am. I was quite disenchanted with all Hearing Aids. When I decided to try these Hearing amplifiers not Aids. I knew that it would allow ambient noise as all sound would be amplified. It would make things that I really didn’t want to hear much louder, but for my deafness, I just wanted to be able to hear so I disregarded that. Anyway, i got them about 10 days ago. And I loved them right from the start. All you do is charge them up put them in and wow sound—real loud sound. it was wonderful. Yes I could hear my refrigerator motor, but I could also hear my voice and bird song. It was great! Maybe some people think hearing the wind in the trees is noise and think hearing bird song is noise but for me being deaf, I love the sounds. Another benefit is these amplifiers do not usually produce the deafening screech and whistle that my hearing aids did. And what a great price. ... show more

The best of 9 I tried.
I tried two $6000 professional hearing aids. No luck as sharp noises like pans hitting counter caused severe noise and pain. I then tried four behind the ear and three in the ear hearing (including Wuvee) amplifiers from Amazon with mixed results. Most made it sound like my head was in a bucket when I talked. Others squeezed so loud that my wife complained about the squeal from 20 feet away. None even came close to the performance of the behind the Wivee behind the ear amplifiers. As said, most made my own voice muffled. Others squeezed when the domes broke contact. Others had microphones that amplified background noises when in a group of people talking. Again, these are the only set out of nine tried where I can understand someone talking to me when other people are also talking. Are they perfect? None are or ever will be. It would really be nice if I could buy aftermarket ear domes that might be more comfortable for all day wearing. After 2-4 hours I just have to take the ear domes out of my ears because of the biting and itching. Ear Bud domes will not work because the inner holes are larger. Bottom line, scale 1-10, I give these a 7-8. And, I seriously doubt if I would do better if I tried nine more pairs. ... show more

Most Basic of Amplification; It's Grating.
This was my first attempt at hearing aids. I have loss of high frequency hearing that is typical of people my age (70). With this pair I bought the least expensive I could find, just to introduce myself to this type of product. I know that there exist hearing aids that sound good, which differentiate between distances of the sound sources, and which deliver the needed high frequencies in a pleasing way. This product is not that. It sports the cheapest microphones and speakers, which pick up all of the nearby sounds, and transmit them to your ear based on how close or far the sound source is. So... at the lowest setting, my wife's voice was helpfully amplified in my ears, but my OWN voice was painful in its volume. Foot steps were grating. Really any sudden ambient sounds were sharp and unpleasant. All of the frequencies were made to sound cheap. I was listening to the world as if it came from a 1962 transister radio. On top of that there was a constant low decibel white noise. I am returing it. So, ok, this was my first try. As I try others, I'll keep going up in quality, reviews and price till I find something good. ... show more

Good yet not good
I like the sound quality and the noise reduction feature. These are some of the best i've tried. The problem is, they don't fit in my ears. They come with different sizes of soft buds but none of them fit. Not only that, the cords that are connected to the pods don't yield and the pods are looking the wrong way and I have a horrible time putting the pods into my ears. If I move my head, they fall out of my ears. So, all the good sound quality and noise reduction become useless. I'm trying to decide if I should return them or I should try to tame them to my ear type. It's rather frustrating. ... show more

Strong Quality; Takes some getting used to.
These hearing amplifiers and strong and VERY helpful. For a first time users who still trying to get used to them ,they are very helpful, but can be quite uncomfortable at the inner ear part. For the most part they are comfortable, but sometimes you’ll experience soreness since it’s something your body isn’t used to. I can actually hear what people are saying and it’s super surprising all the things I’m not realizing I couldn’t hear before. ... show more

Highly recommend as an amplifier
Let's start with the minor problem: upon putting these on and pushing the ON I get no amplification at all. However with a little movement of the volume switch all is well. At first I thought I had a defective product. Maybe but all is well. I have been hearing impaired since early childhood and always had the best of custom made hearing aids--you know the ones that range from $3-6k each. Now I am retired, I don't attend lectures or classes and church has head sets, so I choose to use amplifiers (which is anything less that a thousand dollars or so). They are good enough for my lifestyle of small group conversations, TV etc. I can honestly say of the half dozen or so of amplifiers I have purchased through Amazon these are certainly among the best if not the best. I don't care about hiding them from view of others so I don't mind that they are larger than some and therefore more conspicuous. The controls are easy to manipulate while wearing the instrument and they hold a charge for a long time. If these don't work for what you need, please go to a hearing specialists and pay the huge amount of money required. Hearing is critical to socialization, learning--lectures, etc, and peace of mind. I guess I would compare these to buying magnified glasses at a Walmart kind of store vs. an optometrist. ... show more

A lot of background noise

Better than I thought.
My dad is 95 and has struggled with hearing loss for decades. We went through 2 pairs of very expensive prescribed units. As his memory has become worse and he began to lose them we tried this far less costly option. They have worked as well for him as the $2,000 pair. They are very very loud and blast through his stone hard eardrums. My dad hasn’t said “Can you lower your voice down” in 15 years but he did as soon as he put these on. The only downside is the tiny little on off switch has to be turned off before putting them in the charger or they won’t charge. Once fully charged you’ll get 16-20 hours out of them. Much better than expected and if he loses or breaks it, not a big expense to replace. ... show more
