Note that there is a $40 coupon currently in effect. The FitGoods Weight Bench Press requires some light assembly, but it is straightforward and easy. The bench is fully adjustable. (Although I find all 3 of the calf pad settings uncomfortable to use.) It is easy to adjust and feels very sturdy. My son and I have enjoyed being able to life weights at home with this bench. This is a well constructed adjustable bench at a decent price. The materials seem pretty good quality, made of robust steel tubes but not so heavy you wont be able to move it around. When I tried out this bench it didn't wobble or creak so I know the frame material wasn't flexing just with bodyweight on it. So while the bench is stable and solid, there are some functional issues that makes this less than perfect. The bench is almost completely assembled when you take it out of the box. You really only need to attach the feet and the calf pad (I thought that was an ankle pad) pivot to the frame with simple carriage bolts. This is the first sign of lower attention to details and where you will see the difference on more expensive equipment. The nuts used to secure these components are just regular lock nuts. While they work fine, you have bolt ends that stick out past the nut and exposes the sharp edge of the bolt that can cause injury as you are working out and moving around the equipment. An acorn nut that has a finished rounded end would have solved this little problem and also left a nicer finished look. Next I noticed the pads on the bottom of the feet are a hard plastic that does slide around easily, not so great if you have this on hardwood floors. These feet are also square tubing so when you start trying to fold or unfold it the hard edges are digging into your floor (once again, not so great for hardwood floors) Once again on more expensive benches they will use rounded bars with ends that are grippy yet rotate to act as a wheel. Others just add little casters to the it so when you lift one side, the casters are activated. any of these solutions would allow the bench to move more naturally. Lastly, this bench fold but doesn't fold nicely. It ends up in an awkward shape that also doesn't stand up on its own which means it will always need to lean up against something or you have to open it up like an A-Frame ladder (no longer very space saving). All of these are little issues that I can live with given it retails about $90 where as some comparable ones that do perform these functions are $140 or more. An issue that poses more of a problem is the functionality of the "calf pad". The main reason I picked this bench was also so I could do inverted sit-up/crunches type exercises. The calf/ankle pad needs to extend past the end of the bench to be comfortable to use. At any of the setting, inclined or flat, some part of my calf or thigh gets pushed into the edge of the bench and makes it very uncomfortable to use. This feature is pretty much unusable because it is so uncomfortable. This would have been 5 stars if the ankle attachment worked/adjusted better. I felt very stable while using this bench for my dumbbell workout. The adjustments are straightforward and fast. I saw this go on sale below 90 then a 20% coupon! Wow, if you can land this for under 100 or even 75, go for it. What a great deal! I love how it folds up. I put mine on a rack in the corner, above my garage door. This workout bench is pretty nice. It's great for beginners who are learning how to exercise and workout properly. I like that it doesn't take up a lot of space, especially when folded up. My kid loves having this bench. He assembled it and uses it almost daily. The room it’s in has a decent pile carpet and the bench doesn’t wobble when being used. The pins are simple and make adjustments easily. The padding is comfortable for any range of weights. Very happy with this bench!
