  • Worked great - NEMA 14-50 version
Color: White Style: NEMA 14-50 Plug NACS
I looked around for a permanent NEMA 14-50 charger for our two Teslas - we had been using the portable charger that came with my 2018 Model 3 but I was starting to get some overheating warnings which indicated that it may be wearing out after nearly 7 years of continued use. This one fit the bill perfectly. Installation was relatively easy, and the instructions provided were clear and easy to follow. Once I selected the spot, getting the bracket leveled and installed was easy. It went into a wood panel, so I didn't need the anchors. The installation site was a bit cramped (beside the garage door, near the 240 v plug), so the only installation challenge was getting the side screws that attach the unit to the bracket in. You will likely need a 90 degree drill/screwdriver extension to do it if your quarters are small. The 25 ft charging cable is more than enough for our needs - longer than what came with the portable unit. Connecting through the app was flawless, and plugging into the NEMA plug point was a non event. I was impressed with thickness of the NEMA cable - definitely engineered for the long term. I did not install any Emporia monitoring hardware. We have a Tesla Powerwall, and it manages distribution of our solar capacity. It worked well with the portable charger and works well with this one as well. The unit charges our Model Y at 40 amps and my older model 3 at 32 amps. I immediately noticed a dramatic increase in the speed of charging, especially with the Y. I have both cars set up to charge with excess solar through the Powerwall, and due to the speed of charging, it now makes much more sense to top off during the day. The unit runs cool - no real heat generated at the plug or in the unit. This is where I was running into issues with the portable charger, which would drop throughput when overheating was detected. It works well with both of the cars and I have no reservations in recommending this as a good, more economical solution to the Tesla branded wall charger. Note that there doesn't seem to be a Tesla branded NEMA charger - the unit they sell is hardwired. ... show more

  • Excellent Value and Excellent Charger
Color: Black Style: NEMA 14-50 Plug NACS
Had the charger for about a month now and it's been great so far. Never given me issues, and the 24' cable is a life saver. I am able to charge my '24 Model Y parked behind a 19' car. Unfortunately for me I had to do some small but somewhat costly electrical upgrades to install a subpanel and a NEMA 14-50 outlet. If you have a newer electrical system, 200 Amp service w/ space for 2 breakers in the panel, then you can install this much easier. NACS connector is high quality and reliably opens charge port door. Cable is also durable and manageable, and is only slightly warm at full speed 40 Amps. You can hang the cable on the included holder or around the charger shroud itself. It mounts very securely to the wall, and can be installed easily. The mobile app is basic but it has good information and it accurately tracks, displays, and reports charging statistics. Since this is priced under the Telsa equivalent charger, it made it a more attractive choice. Though it doesn't look as sleek. ... show more

  • Great for 2025 Ioniq 5.
Color: White Style: Hardwired NACS
Looked around for a good charger that wasn't too expensive and this one kept coming up so I gave it a go. This is my first EVSE and so far it has been flawless. I got it installed professionally and LADWP has a rebate program which basically made the installation and unit free. My car constantly charges at 11.25kw-11.5kw which is fantastic. I don't technically need to charge this fast since it's about 20 miles round trip everyday for work but it's nice to have. The app is good and shows all the stats I would need. It's also easy to set up schedules for time of use plans. I think the app has everything you might want to manage an EVSE. I didn't use the included cable management and instead use another one I purchased separately. I wanted something that wouldn't stick out as might when I put the plug into the holder. The cable and plug feel good. I don't know much about how good they are but from what I researched, should be very good. Overall, I think the unit looks good and works as expected. Charges my car when I need it and stays out of the way when I don't. Can't ask for more from a EVSE. ... show more

  • Not difficult to install. Lots of data on charging costs in the app. Glad I bought this one.
Color: White Style: Hardwired NACS
This charger is perfect for my needs. It was easy to install, easy to set up, and it works. I love that I get a monthly report of how much I spent on power to charge my car. Really helps me show off the efficiency to my gasser friends. (Kinda kidding...) I use this NACS plug with an adapter to J1772 for my Chevy Bolt. I wanted to get a charger that would work with all of the cars on the market, and which would be future proof since the world is going NACS. I've not had a single problem with this charger in that configuration, and have been completely happy that it works with my Bolt. I've not had a chance to try it with a NACS vehicle, but am confident that it will work in that config as well, without the adapter. Connected it to my WiFi and haven't had a SINGLE problem with it becoming disconnected. I very much appreciate that as it was a constant problem with my previous charger. The app can be a little clunky, but I'm not even going to take a star off for that, since it's designed to work with more than just their EV charger...if I had more Emporia stuff, I'd really appreciate having all of the information in a single app. Given all the company sells, the app seems designed well. The cord is WAAAAAY longer than I need for my garage, but I can pull the cord out and under my garage door to charge guests' cars, so I appreciate the long cord. It isn't the cheapest charger on the market, but my friend who just got a newer EV decided to go with this EVSE as well, because he saw the data I pulled off mine in my app, so I'd say it's worth it. It's not the most expensive charger on the market, either. ... show more
