Our back patio has one side that is open to our neighbors. I had built a nice privacy fence but it had to be removed in even in a minor storm. I found this privacy screen and was excited to get it. While removing the screen from the box you can see the build quality right away. Installation was really easy and took less than an hour. I anchored the screen holder to a wall and the connector rod into cement using my own cement screws. The screen is made of a lightweight but strong material. It pulls out very easily and pulls back any slack. The wonderful thing is that it takes a second to open or close, no unscrewing or taking apart is necessary. It has already been through a few Florida storms and you wouldn't know it. You won't find a better deal at a better price.

First, I don't normally comment on packaging but this is packaged very well with corner protectors and all. Second the point being made is this needs to be securely fastened. The instructions are to fasten it to concrete or stone and the hardware included are fasteners intended for this purpose. Also purposed on ground level and to use it in under 17 mph winds. As someone who has seen a trampoline and umbrellas and table fly off a deck it is understood that a strong wind could put this in your lap or face. I am going to take the fastening of this item seriously and diligently. Third it is stated that mounting it another way may cause malfunction or injury. That being said I find that the little screws holding the bracket on is an engineering snafu. The overall strength of a system or group is determined by its weakest component or member. If any part fails, the entire system could potentially fail. So I take to my own ingenuity anyways. It would take a metal hanger around the square to reinforce the canister to bracket. For now I am taking the present configuration at face value. I do have protection from the wind to where I located the product. But i did use ledger screws 5 inches long into a 4x6 post buried 3 feet in the ground for the receiving end. Depending on your use you will need to figure out a secure way to fasten yours for your situation and variables. At any rate I really like the effect of the privacy, peace, and serenity that it provides. Amazing how a simple screen can change your circumstances. And when it gets windy or you're not using it, it retracts right back like it wasn't there.

This shade is MASSIVE and truly lives up to the name “privacy.” The material is thick, durable, and opaque — exactly what I needed. It retracts very smoothly and looks sleek. It does require secure ground installation, so I’ll be getting professional help for that part. First impressions are great, and I can already imagine the cozy outdoor space this will create!

This screen is great. We like to let the dog out on the front porch now and then without having to worry about him sneaking off. This screen allows us to quickly isolate the front porch into a little (covered) oasis. It just so happens that the spot we installed it keeps prying neighbors from peeping up onto the front porch. That way, if we want to go sit out there in the evenings and unwind, we can easily do so with a bit of privacy. All in all, this is a great item. It installs easily, is made of super durable components and everything was packaged nicely. Couldn't be more pleased.

Super neat extendable awning that lets you have privacy or wind protection on demand. The fact that this rolls back into itself so you can have an open or private area in seconds is super handy. You need to be a little DIYER to install it since it needs to be bolted to the ground. The frames and post are all metal and securely made. It rolls in and out to use very easily. The thing that surprised me is the screen material. It is very thin and almost feels like it might rip, yet it does seem durable at the same time. Sorry, I know that sounds confusing, but I was expecting a thicker, more durable material similar to the roll down awnings sold at Costco and other places. Also, the screen is dark and dense so not much wind will pass through.

This requires a little know how to install as it requires mounting into concrete (in my case) but it is a good build, the shade is nice and has good light resistance. We had strong winds the first day I had it set up and it held just fine. The metal post it attaches to was solid and held the screen well also. This will definitely help as the dog days of summer approach and the heat kicks up.

Holy cow, this screen is AH-mazing! I love it so much. The hardware is way durable and made super duper well. I love how easy it is to follow the instructions for installation. I love how smoothly it pulls out and goes back in. This sideways screen is just an amazing idea. We have a nice deck that we love to sit out on for a meal, but I don't like the neighbors being able to see us. This is the perfect solution for some quick privacy and I LOVE it! It is awesome and I'm so happy with it!
