It is large enough to read easily from anywhere in the room. There is a small ridge that keeps it from sliding over to the incorrect side. Mine attached magnetically, but they include a sticky pad solution if your dishwasher doesn't have a metal surface.

I got this item because my housemates kept grabbing dishes from inside or putting them away when they hadn’t been washed yet. It sticks firmly to the washer door and is nicely visible with the colors and different fonts. My only complaint is that the slider moves too easily and sometimes slips between the sides so I can’t tell if the dishes inside were washed or not if someone else ran it. ... show more

This has been a great buy. No more trying to figure out if the dishwasher has clean dishes to put away. We just slide it to "clean" when we start the dishwasher and back to "dirty" when we put the dishes away. Seems so simple but it works! And it's large enough to see across a large room.
