I have an above ground pool, so I was excited to find a tarp that would fit nicely over it. My pool is a 12 ft x 30 in round. The rectangle tarps would leave too much over hang. The material in this blue tarp is puncture proof and waterproof and has held up nicely so far with the hot summer sun, wind and or rain. Since its round. It fits nicely. I secure to every other leg with bungee cords. So, on a windy day it stays in place and prevents dirt from entering the pool. Like any tarp it does have a crinkle sound when removing or placing back on, not a big deal. The tarp is thick enough at protecting my pool when not in use and easy to fold and remove. Not a bad price for the size.

Definitely glad we bought it. I will say your best bet is to let it air out for a few days before filling it with water. There is a bit of a chemical smell. I filled it, then emptied it and refilled it. But if you can I would say your best bet is to let it air out otherwise it's been fantastic. One of my dogs won't go in but comes up to the edge, the other dog absolutely loves it.

This is complete and total garbage. Lasted less than 9 months. Wish I could give 0 stars. A waste of $45. It’s sold as a “pool mat” and “pool pad” but it’s just a tarp. Like a tarp from the hardware store, grommets and all. Not a good one, either. Very thin. I set it up anyway because I already had it and needed the pool set up right away. Purchased 6/10/25. It looked okay when I closed the pool in September with the cover. By the time I opened it in March 2026, it was for all intents and purposes disintegrating. The fibers are all coming apart and I constantly have to skim them because they blow and get in the pool. I’m worried the strands will cause damage to my pump if they end up getting in the impeller because I’ve pulled multiple out of the filter. In some areas it essentially looks like Christmas tinsel with the fibers everywhere and there are multiple 2 foot rips. This is not a high traffic area. No one walks this area unless they are coming to the pool which was closed all winter. Does not hold up to being outdoors which is LITERALLY its only job. Of the part that is visible around the pool, around 75% of it is completely obliterated. Looks like someone stuck a tarp through a shredder. Except it’s just sun damage. I have regular heavy duty tarp that has been sitting outside for many many years, probably close to a decade covering a piece of equipment that is perfectly fine. I’ve never in my life seen a tarp such as this product fail so ridiculously fast. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a tarp disintegrate in this way at all if I’m being honest. This is the lowest quality junk I’ve ever overpaid for on Amazon. I’m mostly just angry at how much I spent for it because for the price of this “pool pad” I could’ve purchased a heavy duty tarp that would be perfectly fine today.

I bought this 18x18 ft swimming pool ground cloth to use under my above-ground pool, and it essentially functions as a basic protective tarp. It lays flat under the pool and provides a simple barrier between the pool liner and the ground. The material is lightweight but does help reduce direct contact with dirt, grass, and small debris. It’s easy to unfold and position, and the size was adequate for my round above-ground pool setup. In my case, I used it on relatively uneven ground, and while it doesn’t do anything to level the surface, it does offer some basic protection against small sticks and rough spots that could potentially damage the pool bottom over time. Pros: * Large size covers pool footprint well * Easy to lay out and position * Provides basic protection under pool liner * Lightweight and simple to store Cons: * Feels like a standard tarp rather than a heavy-duty protective pad * Does not provide any cushioning or help with leveling * Can shift slightly if the ground underneath isn’t perfectly smooth Overall, this is a straightforward ground tarp that does the job of adding a basic protective layer under an above-ground pool. It’s not heavily padded or specialized, but it works fine as a simple barrier.
