We've had this shade up for a couple of weeks now, and so far, so good. It was easy and quick to install with the good directions and the exact measurements they supply. It rolls down and up easily and smoothly with the crank. We weren't sure how much airflow we'd get through it but it's worked fine, blocking the sun and the heat that comes with it while letting the breeze blow through. There are some very very tiny little wrinkles in it -- came with them -- so if you're someone who wants it to be absolutely smooth and perfect, look for another shade. We don't find the minuscule wrinkles distracting at all and you can see in the photo how hard they are to see. Our one disappointment is that the mounting brackets are plastic and we're worried they won't stand the test of time in our very cold northern New England winters (we leave the shade rolled up and mounted all winter). We would gladly have paid a bit more for metal mounting brackets. ... show more

I use this for bedroom windows I actually placed them on the inside not on the outside as indicated. But I got wonderful rewards. Heat & sun brightness has diminished considerably . I was desperate & did not want tint or shutters or anything to block daylight completely . I can see through these shades and really adds comfort to the room. I am sold on Coolaroo to add comfort to my outside patio cause I traits they will work. ... show more

These Coolaroo Shades are just as they were advertised. Our back porch was so hot in the morning we couldn't even sit out there to enjoy that space. Since these shades were installed no more blinding sun in the morning. Glad we made this purchase.

Shade is not 48” wide. It’s more like 50.37” which is mentioned in the installation paperwork; not in the info on Amazon. Too wide for us and a bummer as the last one we got (different one) broke 10 days after 30 day return. I did get a refund but not a replacement if the first one. I have purchased 2 of these....the first one is used outside on our patio and after enjoying it for a season, I bought one for our summer room (inside). I also have a similar one for my Florida home that operates a little differently, but because this one has a crank system, it works better than the Florida shade which is a spring load type release. However, I would recommend that if it's going to be outside for the summer, oil the movable parts of the crank before storing it away for the winter. For some reason, mine must have rusted a little inside the crank which required some work to straighten out. ... show more

Have had this up for 2 months now and love it. Easy to put down and up. Gives us a couple extra hours of patio time keeping the sun off the furniture. Same material as our dog beds and those are bomb proof so I’m sure this will last also.
