I purchased these because we have a brown film on our pool, I just tossed these on top and let them float. 3 days later they were brown, pool wall was much cleaner! They work!! Now, I put the dirty ones in a bucket of Greased Lightning, Dawn dish soap, and bleach with hot water, let soak, rinsed, then washed with some towels in the washing machine, second rinse and spin… still brown. Not saying they won’t dry out and be re-used, but clean white would tell if they work much better, so we are going to call them disposable, but they work to fix the dirty ring issue for $10, I will keep a package as spare. Better on this foam than my skin or in someone who may ingest some water. Safety first.

We have used these sponges for years. We decided to try different brand that was considerably cheaper. Don’t do it! They broke down in a couple of days and ended up in our filter. Even though they look the same, they do not hold up. These sponges do great job and last really well. You’ll know when it’s time to throw them out when they become completely submerged. The inferior brand never made it beyond a couple of days and literally fell apart in our hands if it we didn’t remove it within a week

I only write reviews for two reasons the item is either amazing or awful- unfortunately this item is more then awful- these sponges created a plethora of problems for me. I got the sponges because I had tried a similar product from Namco that worked amazing but they ran out and I couldn’t get any more so I turned to amazon and came across these- I recieved them quickly- i immediately put two of them in my hot tub like I had done w my previous set- then went on about my day- the next morning I came out to a horrific mess- these two sponges hat turned from white to orange and from a sponge like material to a thick sticky bubblegum or glue material- it had melted completely around my filter cover blocking anything from getting into my filter- at first I didn’t know what this orange mess was but then I quickly realized it was the sponges I had put in the day before- CLEARLY whatever material this item is made out of melts in water that is 89 degrees- why anyone would sell a hot tub sponge tht melts into a gum substance is beyond me. My hot tub is more of a Luke warm tub because i have a four year old who loves it- so we keep it at 89 degrees- I would hate to see what happens to these turtle sponges in a standard hot tub that is usually at 100-105 degrees- the mess these two small sponges made me in 89 degrees makes me NEVER want to find out- it took me 2.5 hours to scrape the bubblegum substance off the filter cover grates - I could only get a little bit off at a time it was horrible. I was looking for something to float in my hot tub and collect the oils that are left from ppls skin and instead I got a huge mess, had to purchase a new filter and now have 16 more turtle “sponges” that I have zero use for. I would love to find out how anyone has ever used these in a hot tub- my guess is ppl who like this product are using it as an actual sponge to clean the sides maybe? I dont know all I know is stay away from this product- it’s the worst item I’ve ever bought- it’s bad enough when a product doesn’t work as it claims to BUT when an item doesn’t work AND also destroys other items and creates hours of cleaning for you it deserves negative stars.... ny advice to the seller is to stop selling this crap- I never write bad reviews because I know this affects the sellers ratings & I hate to do that but this product is so bad I just couldn’t let this one go with out warning other ppl. The last thing I expected when I opened my hot tub after working 85+ hours this week as a nurse was to see a huge mess created by a product that was supposed to make my life easier not harder. To say I’m irritated is an understatement. Don’t buy unless u enjoy picking gum off hard surfaces for hours.

These little turtles pouf up in the water and help collect body oils and other scum that otherwise sticks to the walls of my hot tub. They do the job and help keep my water clear. I usually change them out after about one week. I think I prefer the colored ones because these ones turn odd colors after being in the water.

I’m not sure about the negative reviews on here either. I read those as well and is actually not going to buy these. I have been buying scumbags and other types of absorbers for more than 15 years. I will say that these seem to work very well. I put the first one in and within about 48 hours it did turn the brownish color that you see in the picture. He continues to collect scum beyond that time and so I just left it in place and then edit another one about a week later. It turned a little bit yellowish but not quite as brown as the first one in the water has continued to be more clear without anything floating on top. They seem to collect Fuzz, hair, anything else it’s floating in the water including particles From my previous scumbag. I really like these and will continue to use these and they are a great value and they continue to do a wonderful job. Don’t listen to the negative reviews because I’ve had these now for almost 4 weeks and they are still doing great

These turned brown after 3 days in a freshly changed hot tub- BUT I like the sponges and I'm using them all over, including in the clay studio and they were priced right so Im keeping them and looking for a different product for the hot tub.

The sponges absorb the oils and containments from the hot tub. The sponges work effectively. You can see when the sponge needs to be replaced because the sponge is either dirty or water-logged. For 40 cents per sponge, I expect most hot tub owners can replace these sponges twice a week. Maybe 3x per week depending upon use of the hot tub. The sponges will not last longer than a week. You should use a sponge ball for guests or times when you cannot change this sponge twice a week. These sponges work better than the sponge ball. However, these sponges do not last as long and are not as visibly appealing as the sponge ball.
