  • Simple,,,BUYIT, U will LIKEIT!!!
I CAN NOT TOUT THIS LOUD ENUF..not inexpensive to buy but once intsalled U will discover that you will no longer ever buy cat litter ever again. You will save your old age back from the pain and suffering of buying kitty litter in a store, hauling it into your car, hauling it out of you car, hauling it into your home, dumping near twice the weight with getting the used litter out of your home, sweeping up all manner of scatter, lugging up your vacuum, hauling the now heavier than when you bought the fresh litter in and manage to get this crap into the car then into the dumpster without it breaking open..oh yeah, Cat genie SAVES your bacon with this aspect alone. Yes, the granules and the wash solutions and the device cleaner SEEM costly but once you train yourself to use it as they advertise and instruct you to use it, well it may be way less costly than the thousands of LBS of cat litter both new and used, and oh, sooo important the BREAK you will GIVE YOUR ACHY BRAKEY BACK! Seiourly, It requires a bit of a learning curve. If you do not have the patience to install it will be well worthwhile to get a handyperson plumber or a friend to install for you, also have then read and helo you wilt the learning curve. Cat Genie, so far offer about the quickest and easiest "TECH" support any vendor has to offer. Morning, noon and night. • Perfect cat box
This cat box cover works perfectly! It hides the litter box nicely and keeps the area looking clean and tidy. It also does a great job of containing odor and mess—my home smells fresher already. The design is sturdy, easy to clean, and my cat had no trouble adjusting to it. Definitely worth the purchase! ... show more

  • Very pleased so far
Only challenge I had was drain hose issue due to a costomized toilet seat that lays very flat. The problem this causes is the hose that goes into the toilet gets pinched and the beeping starts because the genie can't drain. Issue resolved by using 3/4" conduit clamps from home depot($1.79/4 clamps), wich compress and then spring back into shape. As other reviewers stated, during the dry cycle, the smell from the original sanitizing solution and missed fecal matter (too tiny to be picked up... and we are talking about less than a pea size) is, without a doubt, quite repulsive. Problem resolved: I run my system 3x per day. It is set to come on within 15 minutes after they are all done doing their business, while the waste is still very soft. I also switched to the unscented sanitizer. Folks, we are talking about an exponential decrease in odor here. Nice improvement Cat Genie! You get 5 stars from me due to the unscented solution, alone. Overall, this was a solid investment for us and works very well. If you have 1 cat, this is a "nice to have." You have 3, like me, and this is definitely a "need to have." We haven't had any issues with the device, the cats use it all the time, we have not had to change litter or scoop in 45 days. NICE! Downside: You will have some of the litter tracked around by the cats after doing their business. Use a track mat to catch it, or set your roomba to hit that area 3 to 4x per day and you are set. ... show more

  • A miracle machine for cat owners!!
My husband and I finally broke down recently and had to do something...anything...to keep from having to scoop poop! We've had our feline child, Chester, now for approximately 3 months, and needless to say after the very 1st a solution had to be found. I DESPISE the dust, smell, and also the "appearance" of a litter box and had hidden it away in an extra closet leaving the door cracked so Chester could squeeze through to use the bathroom. Even after doing all of this, the smell still bothered me, (as I am OCD and detest my home being unclean and smelling foul). I know, I know...these things are super expensive, right? Do the math. Add up how much you would spend over the period of year just on cat litter, not to mention the Arm and Hammer deodorizer, etc. Pretty close figure in comparison, eh? That's what we basically did: weighed the pros and cons and purchased the CatGenie. At first, I was VERY skeptical about it; I've read both good and bad reviews, so I wasn't sold all the way. Let me tell you first of all...It is a pain in the a** to hook up, but once it is all is well. Chester took to it immediately, (as he is shy by no means), and we were able to take away his litter box in the same day. The directions also say to wait a week before you run it in their presence; after about the third day I said, "what the heck," and ran it while Chester was awake. He loved it! He gets such a kick out of watching the thing! Be warned...MAIN CON: If you cannot stand a mess, like myself, buy the CatGenie sidewalls and dome. When your cat jumps out, he/she will leave some of the pellets on the floor. We couldn't stand these little things in our bathroom where we tread barefoot, so we purchased sidewalls and dome, (which Chester also loves), and a little mat that catches most of the pellets, then moved the contraption into his room, (aka the "guestroom"). I would have never in a million years put a cat's "litter box" in the guestroom, but with the dome and sidewalls the smell is nonexistent and you cannot actually "see" the cat waste because it is covered by the dome, (which is pretty stylish). I use a little hand held mini vac for sucking up the loose pellets that Chester tracks and then dump them back in the CatGenie, (this saves the $ that you would waste buying more pellets because of them being tracked through your home). Oh! One more thing: Make sure, (I cannot stress this enough), that you get the unscented cleanser to go with it! The scented smells AWFUL while it's cleaning! It eventually dissipates after about 30 minutes, but when the CatGenie is blow-drying the pellets, the smell of poop mingled with a citrusy-flower smell is not appealing at all! So, good luck to all of you pet owners....I, for one, am NEVER going back to scooping poop again; I'll stick with pressing my one button and letting the CatGenie do all of the work. TIP: my husband and I bought our on Black Friday and saved around $100. If you can put it off until then you'll save a few bucks. ... show more

  • Cat Genie Review
This is a good product. I will say if you have more then one cat you will go through the granules faster. It's takes about 1 1/2 weeks to get an order, so order ahead of time. It took some time for my cat's to get used to it, but once they figured out it wasn't scary they were fine. I also ordered the hood, but I left it out without the hood or any granules so they could get used to it being in their area. Then I put the granules in it, but left their regular litter box by it. After a week I took some of the waste from their box and put in the cat genie. The next day one of them went in there, but just to potty. then the second, then the third. on the 8th day, I removed their regular box and just had the cat genie out. I sterilized all the other areas. My kitten has one accidental potty (more about her being upset that I moved their box, and this is why I waited a week); but she and the other two have done well since then. I run it twice a day; once in the am when I leave for work and they have already woken up and done their business and once in the evening when I go to bed. I will switch to the cleaning after use when I get the extra granules I ordered. I also but the hood back on it and they are fine with that as well. It does help keep down the mess on the floor. The last thing is that we have a septic system where we are and having something that works with that was really important to us....it's definitely nice not having to clean the box constantly. ... show more

  • Haven't cleaned a litter box in over a month
So far, there are a few issues, but it's been a great purchase and we're glad we bought it. We had a water line, drain, and power put in specifically to try this in an addition. Setup was easy, and it took about a week for us to train the cat to use it exclusively. I did use some of the pellets in her old litter box while training that I just threw away later - worth it. We have it set up with the full dome for one small to medium sized cat, and are running it with the full auto / cat detect settings. Pros: 1.) Haven't had to manually take out shredded liners from a kitty litter pan since we trained our cat to it. 2.) The litter used in this doesn't need to be replaced/replenished often, and is not dusty at *all*. It's a very light plastic pellet. 3.) It has not flung poo across the room like I've had happen with other styles of automated kitty litter boxes. Seriously. Flying poo. Happy not to have that happen. Cons: 1.) You pretty much have to have a sink & power hookup set up for it, or run it alongside the toilet which seems like it would kinda suck. 2.) The cycle is fairly long and a bit noisy, and since we run it in automatic mode it has kicked in a few times when I've been on the phone. Not so loud to disrupt, but annoying. The pause button is temporary and it beeps while paused. 3.) Our cat does track some litter out, even with the dome. Recommend a rubber mat designed to catch kitty litter in front of it, and you'll likely have to vacuum or sweep it every week or two. 4.) Maybe 3 times so far... it's missed part of a poo. When it happens, the blow-dry stage is pretty bad (warm toasty poo smell! even better with scented cleaner!). However, each time I've just pushed the button again after the cycle to do another one, and it's cleaned itself fine and gotten rid of the smell. There can be a few minutes of eye-watering in there on the first run. BUT - the poo never leaves the dome and does not fly across the room. 5.) Recommend the unscented cleaner. The scented one doesn't cover anything and just makes the place smell like kitty-litter-cleaner-smell during the blow dry stage. ... show more

  • Get this thing outta here!!!
Brilliant Idea. Decent Mechanics and Operations Multiple Settings. However.... this thing STINKS. The way a burnt turd infiltrates the very bones of your house or apartment...beware. Even just the HOT "washed" crystals stink. And this isnt a litter box smell- this isnt a poop or urine smell. This is a turn your stomach, where's the Advil, open the windows, lets pack up and move, hell burn the house down type of wreak!! Also, unless you have room in your laundry room for this giant thing to connect this to your waste line- you must use a toilet- where the waste will go....requiring a flush once the cycle is complete. Ew. The hose in which the washed waste goes through hangs over your toilet bowl. Thank God we had a spare bathroom. And honestly when we got rid of this thing I washed the walls as it had absorbed this awful smell. You have an apartment? Consider your neighbors-or neighbords fear any cat owners. My poor mother suffered greatly with her neighbors cat genie odor. Clean? Sure- the litter is washed and clean....but your floor isnt. Prepare for a mine field of granules. From the paws...from the cycles....everywhere. And they bounce out...and then they bounce away. Multiple cats? Oh lawd, it was awful. Some people apparently have a heavenly time with their cat genie...us, not so much. I didnt even GIVE this thing away. ... show more

  • Useful accessory if you have the Cat Genie and your cats tolerate domed litter boxes. Useful accessory if you have the Cat Genie and your cats tolerate domed litter boxes.
Comes in four pop-in pieces. I did the walls first, for awhile, and then the dome. It helps tremendously keeping the little pellets in the box (I also use an anti-tracking mat outside the opening). ---------------------- I love my cat genie. I didn't love the not-cleaning the litter box as the cats transitioned, because our laundry room smelled like poop and pee for about a week and a half, but I totally love not having to deal with litter at all. One cat took to it immediately with zero trouble and the other one has only had issues using it if he wanted to pee and it was already running. He's been pooping in it since day one; he just occasionally pees outside it (about three feet away on the tile where the old box was) when he has to go and it's on a cleaning cycle. I'm sure it would've been a completely smooth transition if they'd still been kittens (they'll be nine years next month). I finally broke down and bought this because I'm plagued by guilt all the time (I blame this on having both a Catholic and a Jewish mother: everything in the world is my fault) and I read an article on how much of US landfills is cat litter and how bad the strip mining used to procure the clay is for the land. Plus I really love not having to deal with anyone's fecal matter but my own. We had some trouble hooking it up because our house is old and was built by escaped lunatics on acid, but a little thought (and an especially clever and beautiful wife with a ball valve) and we pulled it off. It took about an hour to set up and about $8 of extra supplies.i spent another $2 to get a check valve so we don't have to worry about opening and closing the valve every time we do laundry. Also, regarding the large number of complaints about customer service: Our initial test to see if we'd need some sort of valve to prevent back-flow into the genie (our pipes are very narrow and when the washer empties, the pressure builds up faster than the pipes can handle, so it backs up into the kitchen sink and then drains. As you can see in the picture, the previous owners apparently just let it flood onto the floor.) and of course we did need the valve. After flooding the cat genie with laundry water, I called customer service, immediately got someone who fixed our problem right away with a button mashing combo for emptying the genie. She was very congenial and eager to help. ... show more
