This one is not quite as good as an LP vibra-slap, but still good and produces a cool sound with three choices of sustain. This instrument is what Steven Tyler used (and broke, but they left the sound of it breaking in the final mix), during the opening of Aerosmith's 1975 hit "Sweet Emotion."

    • Consumer instrument vs a professional instrument
I purchased this vibraslap as a birthday present for a 13 year-old grandson. I am a professional percussionist and I use the LP brand vibraslap for my playing. I think of this vibraslap as a consumer-grade percussion instrument, versus the LP brand, which is the pro-grade. Overall, it worked just fine. The major difference is that this vibraslap does not vibrate as long as the LP version. For a consumer-grade instrument, it works just fine at a lower price point than the pro-grade. ... show more

Disappointed in this product. The rattles are not loud at all. Would have to be mic'd very closely to get a good sound .

This is a fun instrument to add to the percussion and noise box, I have been wanting one for some time. After playing it my first impressions are that it is a bit higher pitch than the ones I've used before. Not a bad thing, but different than the classic TV Detective movie sounds I was expecting. It also doesn't have much sustain (goes quiet quickly) but that may be because I'm not hitting it super hard. It appears to be well made, and maybe I just need to get used to it as its own unique sound, time will tell. ... show more
