We got this for the studio window, which gets full sun all summer afternoon, and most of the day in winter. It is large enough to keep both the window and the wall on either side of the window so much cooler that it is noticeable, inside. Keeps the glare out, too. We added a chain to the side without the tie-down rope, attached with an S hook to the bar at the corner, and another S hook attached to an eye hook on the building, which keeps it stable in the high winds we often have in Arkansas. Both this and the previous, bought 2 years ago, have gone through 110+ F temps without any damage, except color fading. That isn''t an important detail to us. ... show more

Because the instructions and hardware that came with the awning were so lousy, this purchase was an exercise in frustration. We had to buy hardware that actually worked to hang the awning.

Products is now a totally different color, I suppose because they were placed in a sunny spot, but that was the purpose. I’ve had them for just a few months before the color change occurred. I am not a “happy camper” about this. I purchased 2 and both are color changed. I’m not impressed with this change and am not enjoying the new, “color coordination”. ... show more

NICE ITEM. I BOUGHT 3. DID NOT take long to FADE tho. BUMMER. DOES THE JOB ON MY WINDOWS was not hard to mount them. the Green turns to a faded white greenish look. with my house painted green and brown it looks off now.

Well worth the money. I purchased the 8 foot one. Decent canvas thickness and feels pretty sturdy. I realize it's only for decorative purposes and that's fine. It is actually a retractable awning that comes with pulleys and 1/4" thick rope so you can pull it up if you want. It should say that in the description. It is easy enough to remove if I decide to take it in for the winter. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the lack of clarity with the instructions. In fact it didn't even come with instructions so I had to call Castlecreek and have them send them to me. The customer service was very good. I would recommend it to anyone. ... show more
