We've used a 6' wide version of this to shade our bathroom window for many years. We finally decided to shade an office window, as well as a kitchen window. They shorted me on the drywall anchors and screws on the first installation, and gave a lot more than enough on the second kit. They don't make any recommendation about height, but if you have a tall window, 6" above the top for the header bar should work. Otherwise, I recommend 12" above. I had to go through stucco, so I bought a set of masonry bits at Home Despot. The drywall anchors need about a 5/16th inch hole, and if you are going into wood or metal, the screws go into a 1/8th inch hole. The header rod is about 94-3/4" long, so I spaced the interior supports about 31" apart, so the header rod would extend a bit past the end supports. The do a great job of keeping the sun out, so the house heats up slower during the summer days. There's a cord, and pulley system, to allow pulling the shade up for high winds, and cold days.

It was great for the first month after that it's sad and faded now. Bought this one and another both are faded and look terrible. It does shade the window nicely....but didn't even last a season in California.

Company shipping without a sturdy package is very inconvenient! I sent one back that was damaged in shipping and then the replacement arrived also damaged, open and missing parts but I kept it anyway and replaced the parts at the local hardware store. At least the list of parts was correct.

Bought this awning just this year, we've used this type of awning for years. When we received the awning I noted the material didn't look or feel the same. Overall quality seems ok, my only complaint is the color is already washed out and faded. The older awnings we had held up about three years before fading.
