Buckle up buttercup. After years of $200 HP inkjets and their endless problems, I broke down and did the research and spent $600 on one. $600 On a home printer. Am I mad? Perhaps, but that’s personal. Printers are evil. A necessary one in this ‘paperless’ world to be sure. I’ve NEVER been excited about a printer but this one is utterly amazing in every way, and so deserves full marks and my time to exalt it on high. It’s exceeded all our expectations by a mile. The time and frustrations saved is worth the $400 difference all by itself. But you don’t care about soft costs. You’re a consumer, and only care about dollars and maybe even a bit about the math. The math? This has a 100-150k page duty cycle. Thats 10+ years at 10k pages per year. How many crappy inkjets have you purchased and wanted to burn with fire in the last ten years? Toner (third party) costs are a fraction of inkjet (like less than 3c per page compared to double digits with inkjet). The big thing too is effortless duplex. Paper isn’t that cheap. Being able to half your paper costs is huge too, and HP inkjet duplex printing is HOT GARBAGE (it’s ok to admit it). We homeschool and print on average 5-10k pages per year for curriculum, but in bursts, and then it sits idle for a month or two. Why would a that important you ask? Inkjet dries out. Toner doesn’t. See how simple that is? You know that’s what causes a large portion of your headaches with inkjets right? You didn’t? Well now you do. Your welcome. You know how your HP inkjet doesn’t like print jobs of more than 20 or so pages? This thing takes anything we throw at it. So far, 600 pages in one job. Do you know how it does that? It does that by having enough memory inside it to actually do its ONE JOB. Unlike HP that have about 64 whole kb of memory (ok it’s actually 256mb, but it doesn’t actually work) most of which is used to make sure your signing up for their overpriced liquid ink that dries out by the time you install it. Paper jams? Unlikely, but jobs continue after a jam or adding paper or even a power outage like nothing happened. What about downsides? Paper tray is only about 250 (which is totally fine for most besides us). So what. It takes 30 seconds to add more. The inkjets we used to use were HOURS of messing with for paper, ink, jobs getting stuck, the STUPID ‘HP Smart’ app, etc. I can add more paper, Judith. But what about the scanner bed and feeder you say? They work flawlessly too, you uncultured swine. How dare you even ask. Replacing toner much suck compared to inkjets. Thats because you live only owned inkjets you uncul…. see above. Any other drawbacks? It’s heavy. Yeah. Like a quality product should be. If you can’t handle that, you don’t deserve a printer this good. And you should feel bad Stop. Buying. HP Inkjet Printers For the love of all that is holy. This $600 will be the best $200 you ever spent on a printer. That is all.

I bought this printer to replace a 10 year old HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M476dn, which had been a workhorse but was becoming unreliable and very noisy, and the cost to refurb it made buying a new one more practical. I had planned to buy another HP, but was shocked at the cost of HP toner cartridges; even the third-party toner was much more than I was paying for our M476 toner. But the Canon toner is much lower cost, both for the Canon brand and the third-party. The machine itself works great. Setup was very easy; I simply took it out of the box, connected it to the same power and network cables that had been connected to the M476, and the Canon immediately turned on and walked me thru the install from its touchscreen. Toner cartridges were already installed in the machine. Took only a few minutes to auto config to my network (wired Ethernet); calibrate color output (it printed a linearization chart, scanned it, then updated its internal calibration); and check, download, and install new firmware. I then downloaded and installed the Canon software (running Windows 11 Pro), which worked flawlessly. Some reviewers have complained about the Canon software, but I've had no problems printing or scanning via the network. The printer is about the same size as our M476, but has a cleaner design and is not as heavy. The touchscreen works very well, and is sufficiently large for what it needs to do. The document scanner is fast and very quiet compared to the M476. It seems very power efficient, and it also prints multi-page documents much faster. Duplex printing and duplex scanning both work great, and the design of the bypass tray is superior to the M476. Overall, I'm very impressed and would certainly recommend (especially at the current discounted price). Will it give me a decade of service like my HP? The Canon warranty is certainly longer than HP, so time will tell.

Should have known better then to get something expensive on amazon. Printer itself is fine, great even, but came to find out quite late that a part for the scan feeder was just straight up broken on arrival. Find it hard to believe just an internal part just broke in shipping, maybe its a weak joint or amazon just once again shipped someone else returned item as their known to do. Trying to return this thing would be a giant hassle without the original box so resorting to finding replacement parts, but lesson learned, never make huge purchases on large devices on amazon, go to stores.

Appended information: I had one time where I tried to print while it was in sleep mode and it wouldn't print. Later on that happened, and I just hit the sleep button (the moon) and it took it out of sleep mode and printed. Today it was in sleep mode and I printed and it just took itself out of sleep mode and printed. I'm not sure what's happening, but I seem to be able to get it out of sleep mode and printing without rebooting the printer. My old Brother color laser printer finally wore out (plus the software was very old), so I decided to get a new one. I did a lot of searching, first deciding I didn't want to fool with the Brother software any more, and settled on this printer. I liked a lot about it - I needed a fax, I liked the scan to computer / email, and I wanted to scan photos. When it went on sale from $700 to $500, I bought it. I was a bit fearful of all the comments about getting it on your network, seeing the printer and scanning to your computer. When I opened it there was a piece of paper (attached photo) that said not to plug it in until you went to that page. I followed the directions EXACTLY (I am a bit of a techie). Against my better judgement, I used the "Easy Connection" feature. It completed but since it never asked me for a password, I knew it wouldn't work. And it didn't - the software couldn't see the printer. So I started it all over again (it went quick because I didn't have to do the setup stuff), and instead of picking the Easy Connection option, I manually entered my SSID and password. This time it worked perfectly. The computer attached to my network and we were on the way! I downloaded the software as instructed and installed it. I did NOT uninstall my Brother software, just in case. It completely finished in a few minutes, dropped the manual and the printer information software onto my desktop and we were done. I tried scanning, and it automatically saw my computer and would let me scan directly to it. I reran the setup program on my phone (from the link on the attached paper) and there was an option to install the software on a phone (either IOS or Android). I chose the Android and it ran perfectly. I did the same for my wife's Android. No problems. The only downside, and this is not just Canon printers as my Brother had the same issue - my wife's computer is a Surface Pro. The software will not run on the ARM hardware. It just won't. BUT, I went into Windows (11) setup, went into "add a printer" and windows found it immediately. I picked it and windows automatically installed it. I also found a Canon software package called "Scan" and it dropped it onto windows and allows me to control the scanner directly from the Surface Pro. So at the end of the day it works, I can print from the Surface and scan to it, so I'm happy. A lot of people complained about it going into sleep mode and not coming out without rebooting the printer or reattaching it to the network. I don't have ANY of those problems. I just printed something while the printer was in sleep mode, and it immediately woke up and printed with no issues. It prints extremely fast, makes no noise while in sleep mode, and winds down pretty quickly. That's great for me because my old Brother would keep making noise for 10-15 minutes after I print, and was pretty irritating and loud. I bought the extended warranty through Amazon which had immediate 24/7 help if I needed it. I did not. I'll use the printer for the next few days before deleting the Brother off my network. If there's any issues, I'll update this review.

As we all know, buying, owning, and using most products these days requires us to work within an entire ecosystem of a company's services. Gone are the days of simply buying a device, plugging it in, and using it. That said, this sort of experience can actually be had with this Canon imagCLASS MF753Cdw II, depending on what you need out of this machine. My review will encompass 4 aspects of the Canon ecosystem. Canon web and internet services: 1-Star Every single time I tried to go to the Canon USA support site, I got a block error from CloudFlare. Not sure if it was just today or if there's an ongoing issue with their site management in the cloud and the associated content delivery network, but I got a 403 error on nearly any page that would have contained actual content I needed (drivers, software, etc.). I was actually able to download PDF versions of the Manual, and browse most of the online manual, though their utility and usefulness is very low. There are issues with the software that are seemingly also dependent on some of these internet services, and those also generated failures, blocking me from being able to fully set up my printer. Specifically, The Web Services Daemon aspect that would allow internet-based printing didn't work. It may be available later, but at the time of this writing, it's a no-go. Canon Hardware and device setup: 5-Star Understand that I had a previous model of Canon imageclass multi-function printer. The hardware was reliable and maintained it's function durably. The interface for using the printer both from the printer itself and from a built-in web server were abysmal. That has all changed in this new printer. They have greatly simplified setting up the various protocols, services, and profiles for this printer. The screen interface menu system is still a little weird, but it's much more intuitive than it used to be. The web interface and menu system is much improved, and they even launch a local web application that helps you set up things like Network Folder access and the Fax interface. Much better, and the gap between their competitors seems to be closing a lot here. Canon has a reputation for durability, and there were no issues with any of the printouts that I ultimately generated. Print quality is excellent, and the printer responds and executes its jobs quickly. Software: 1-Star This device refused to work with any of the Canon supplied software. While I was able to find places to download the software and drivers for this unit (not from Canon, sadly, see the above comments on their website), I wasn't successful in installing any of it. It seems that the software wasn't designed to work with the modern aspects of Windows 11 such as the firewall. Whether I ran through the easy connect setup where my computer is supposed to discover the printer over WiFi, or whether I manually set up the WiFi on the printer, and then tried to use the Canon software to find the printer by supplying the printer's IP address, the software couldn't do the job. I could ping the printer, and was even able to log in to the Web interface on the printer itself, but the Canon Master Setup software couldn't find the printer even if I led it by the nose to the device. Another complaint is that you have to have internet access to install the unit. In cases where you are trying to perform an offline install, I wish you the best of luck, and this may not be the device for you. Not all use cases allow for customers to be connected to the internet, and if that's your situation, think very, very carefully before buying this device. OS Integration (Windows only) 5-Star Given that I wasn't able to install the printer to Windows 11 using Canon's software, I was very nervous about this purchase. Ultimately, I was able to use the built-in Windows 11 printer installation interface to install the printer. In fact, it was nearly instantaneous to detect and install the printer from the Operating System. Test prints worked well, and whichever driver Windows decided to install for the printer was able to use all print-related features of the unit (duplexing, manual feed trays, etc.) I was able to set up scan-to-network share using the web interface to the printer, and scanning, PDF generation, JPG generation, and scan quality and resolution all seem to be excellent. I cannot vouch for other services, as I wasn't truly interested in them. I may try to get them working down the road, but scanning to network and printing are what I was looking for, and was able to find a way to get them working. All-in-all, the setup experience was much better on this unit compared with the older one, even though the Canon software failed in all ways. Summary: I gave this a 4 star rating because the device ultimately did everything I needed it to do, and it only took me about 25 minutes to get it set up. Keep in mind that I was not able to test print from mobile/internet printing, as Canon's site was broken. Similarly, if you're looking for applications on your laptop (as a windows 11 user) I wasn't able to get those working because the software just flat-out wouldn't discover the printer through broadcast or IP specific discovery. I was impressed that I could basically plug the device in, configure it for my WiFi network, and use Windows to install and access the unit. That took care of 80% of my needs. I could configure the other 20% using a web browser to access the printer. The lack of offline useage really wouldn't matter in this case because Canon's own software failed even with internet access. Those aspects led me to deduct a star in my overall rating. The ecosystem failed, but at least the device worked somewhat without it!

Just an awesome printer/scanner. Printing works flawlessly. Scanning works great but not to my PC so I use a USB drive. Got tired of my inkjet clogging and spending hours getting it unclogged So I bought a laser color printer. When I installed the print driver, the printer/scanner functions worked great over the WiFi network. Later I couldn't use the MF743 unless I re-installed the print driver. I discovered that there were issues between the Cannon inkjet driver and the Cannon MF743 driver. Once I removed the inkjet driver which I didn't need and re-installed the Cannon MF743 driver, printing is flawless except very occasionally I need to turn off/on the printer which I suspect is my WiFi router as it previously dropped other devices. Scanning still doesn't work over the WiFi from my PC, except when I reload the driver, but I suspect its my network. I do very little scanning, so I just use the scan to USB drive function. Also, the printer came with "starter print cartridges" which I am used to replacing pretty quickly with previous printers. I did get an alert that the cartridges were completely empty after 2 months but I am still able to print full color prints that are perfect ! I bought the printer early Jan 2026 and as I write this review in mid-July 2026. I have print 600+ pages and the consumables pop-up says the black cartridge is at 50% and another 900+ color pages with the consumable pop-up showing 0% available on all colors. Very fast printing, has never jammed., scanning quality and speed is great and the scan auto-feeder also has never jammed. Never tested the FAX so no comment on that.

Excellent color. Toner, however, is very expensive for replacement. So,metimes will lose network connection and have to reboot machine, but even despite all that, an excellent copier. I've had multiple phone calls on the lost connection situation, and there's no real solution based on the troubleshooting steps we have gone through, but it's not overly burdensome.
