I have a large CD collection that is overflowing my CD bookshelves. Since I have imported all my discs into iTunes I decided that most of them do not need to be out. I found this storage box while doing a search and it looked perfect and had a great price. I debated between the single-row and double-row box and decided on the single-row since it seemed to me a little more stable with less flex which would help the snaps stay in place, a common problem on the double-wide boxes according to the reviews. At $4.88 a piece, for the single box option ($12.99 for the two box option) I thought I would take a chance and buy 5 boxes, the maximum allowed for the order I thought. They arrived and were very easy to put together, the lid is pre-assembled, and I was impressed with the quality. The snaps were tight, and the boxes hold together well when fully loaded. Many of my CD's are Japanese with obi strips, which I like to keep with the CD, so I have those in poly bags for extra protection. The CD's fit in the box nicely, even in the poly bags, and the lid just rests on the top of the CD's, which is fine as it is good for stacking. I was so impressed I wanted to buy another 5. I put together another order with those as my "add-ons", but at checkout I was informed that Amazon will not sell me any more. I guess there is no limit on the 2-packs for $12.99. I went over to Staples which sells them for $5.99, with free shipping and you can buy as many as you want, I bought 10. It may not be much of a savings over the 2-pack, but I think that is a better way to do business. For as much as I buy from Amazon, this was not a positive experience. Update: I ordered 10 more from Staples, for roughly the same price as 5 two-packs. The quality was fairly consistent, except for one which didn't have tight snaps on one side. It would unsnap on its own after a while, so I followed the recommendation of another reviewer and used Gorilla Glue on the snaps. That worked fine. Another reviewer mentioned receiving a box that was missing a side. I noticed on many of mine the sides were stuck to the bottom panel and I had to use a little effort to peal them off. They are a fine product, but just be aware of a few minor issues.

I was delighted by these boxes. They are not glamorous, but they are efficient. I would have settled for a simple cardboard box that was exactly the size of a CD (and long enough to hold a bunch), and this, while essentially a cardboard box, is very thoughtfully designed. My reason for buying a bunch was to store CDs that I've now put on my computer, so I only need them for backup. I wanted the most compact manner possible to store them, and this is it. It also seems to be by far the cheapest. Until you need one, it is folded flat. It easily assembles, and is sturdy and attractive (black, with metal corners and a lable holder). I threw out all of my jewel cases, and bought a lot of paper sleeves for the CDs, and can fit a large number of CDs and booklets (maybe 80? I didn't count) in each box. I guess you could also keep the jewel cases, but I am delighted to have the shelf space back instead. I now also use one of them for computer backups and software disks. There's room in a single box for all of my backups, all of my software, all of the manuals, and a ham sandwich (although probably not the best place for the sandwich).

Very nice boxes, sides snap together well. Only 4 stars from me because of usage issues. Full of cds it's heavy so lacking in handles and the lid not being attached in any way and kind of loose means you have to take care moving it around. I would have loved to be able to stand them up on end but that's not going to work.

I first ordered 4 of these off Amazon on 7/25/16. They worked out really great and so I ordered 10 more this past June 27th. The reason I like them is because 1) they look pretty nice on my shelves, 2) they are a great price 3) they are a good size and 4) they hold up pretty darn good. I previously had my CD’s in standard CD cases in Xerox boxes but I got tired of both the weight and size. So in 2016 I started switching to the thin type jewel cases. But I found even that still weighed quite a bit and still took up a lot of room, and having to modify the CD jackets was a pain the patootie. So I began switching to CD sleeves last year. Now I can fit at least 100 CD’s/Jackets/sleeves in each of these CD Storage Boxes which then allows me to keep all of my CD’s on my shelves for easy access. The box is a great size because even 100 CD’s/jackets weigh a lot and so if you have something that holds more, it gets pretty heavy. Also, it’s a good size for organization. Not too small, not too big. I am also very happy with how these have held up. I did not expect too much since they are essentially snap-together, laminated cardboard boxes. But the ones I bought in July 2016 are in great shape. I haven’t abused them or anything like that, but I have definitely moved them around a lot, leaving them all around my den-office including on the floor, and accessing them frequently to go through my CD’s, put stuff on top of them and vice-versa and they are still in excellent shape. So I bought 10 more and, obviously, I recommend them to you for the reasons that they have worked for me.

I should note that I bought these for computer CD media storage, not music CD's. The bane of all media storage is lack of flexibility. Software vendors distribute CD's in all sorts of packaging, including standard jewel cases, customized plastic cases, paper sleeves, cardboard sleeves, and even DVD-size cases. I need to file my CD's by computer and application type - not by size! Most CD storage boxes have some size limitations. Some assume that you will simply throw away the original packaging, and use their custom sleeves. But the original packaging often has useful information on it, like installation instructions, urls, or CD key codes. So it is important to be able to file the original packaging with the CD. The BEST CD storage I've ever found are the old Flip-n-file, swing-top boxes designed for 5-1/4" floppies. These conveniently store CD's in ANY of the above packaging except DVD cases. You can even throw in the odd 3-1/4" floppy. But these are no longer made. (I'm in the market, if anybody has any...) The worst "solution" I've tried was a cardboard box that would only hold CD's in paper sleeves, and was designed so the lid sat on top of the CD's (which stuck above the sides of the box), so that it was pretty useless unless the box was entirely full. These Snap-n-store boxes are in between. They hold CD's in standard jewel cases, which is what they are designed for. (The cases only fit in one orientation, though, with the long edge up-and-down.) They will accomodate paper sleeves, which are smaller than jewel cases. They will NOT accomodate cardboard mailers, which are a little bit wider. Of course, they will not handle DVD-size cases (although Snap-n-store also makes a DVD box, which I have not tried). Like the other cardboard box I tried, the CD cases stick up above the sides of the box, so the lid will not sit securely unless the box is almost full. In short, the box is good for long-term storage of CD's if you don't need to store them in cardboard sleeves, and you have enough CD's to store to pretty much fill the box. My bare-minimum standard for media storage has become: is it better than a shoebox? These Snap-n-store boxes are, perhaps, but only just barely.

I have absolutely no complaint with these boxes. I am more than pleased with the product quality and appearance. They were assembled in a matter of a couple minutes. They are quite attractive with the silver snaps on the black box, and they are plenty secure. I bought them to store CDs. Each box holds about 33 CDs in their original plastic cases, and the lid to the box fits and closes perfectly. My entertainment center has cabinet doors; therefore I need to pull the box forward to get out or put back a CD. The box is a little heavy when full of CDs, so obviously it might not be a good idea to move it around by pulling on the front flap. I simply slide the box out and back in and by holding onto the sides. Not a problem at all. The slot on the front of each box for a label is an extra nice touch. I placed a cut-to-size paper tab with the typed word "Instrumental" on one box and "Vocal" on the other box. These boxes are well worth the money. I am very pleased, can highly recommend for CDs, and will probably buy more.
