I have 3 waterproof bedding. 2 of those didn't actually stop but merely absorb and dog's pee goes through. But this one actually stopped those pees, actual waterproof. The downside, when washing and drying part. Because it's waterproof property it's somewhat harder for soap to be rinsed in the washing machine. Hand washing it is a lot easier.

I would give this five star if the edges were more snugged to be able to fit on my kiddo’s mattress. As you can see the fit is very loose on a 12” mattress. Overall, this protected the brand new mattress that was purchased less than a week ago. My kiddo had an accident last night and the mattress was well protected. All I had to do was remove the sheets and the mattress protector and the mattress, to my surprise, was dry. So, yes, for keeping the mattress protected. In addition, there is no sound when you lay on this mattress protecter because it has two layers: plastic at the bottom and a terry cloth material on top. I will purchase another because I am unsure if it will hold up after too many times in the washer and dryer. I will provide an update in couple months.

i can’t speak on how waterproof it is as i haven’t had to fully test that yet- but compared to other covers it doesn’t have that crunchy hard feeling so i am ordering another one.

This is my second purchase of this cover. It fits my 12" mattress perfect. It is super stretchy and is easy to put on. It has the waterproof backing (thank goodness) but it doesn't make noise. I'll spare the details but we had a guest stay this past week that became very sick. This completely protected my mattress. I probably could have washed and reused this but I decided to replace it with the exact one since it worked so well. I will be replacing all of the other mattress covers with this particular one. Not sure why the others are so expensive when this one does everything it is supposed to do.
