    • So much better than it's predecessor........Dutch Oven
Great quality Calphalon large cook pot with a very nice clear lid. Everything about this "Dutch Oven" (I always thought that was something else and not necessarily related to cookware, but anyways... :-) is an improvement over our prior Calphalon large cook pot of the same size. This pot has a pour spout, which is VERY HANDY and it also has a much "taller" metal ring on the edge of the clear lid which extends down into the cook pot when the lid is in place, which fits the pot nicely. You can move this pot around when it is in use and the lid stayed in place, which is a safety and convenience issue to prevent possible spills of hot items. The handles are better on this Calphalon cook pot than our "old one". The handles are actually a little further from the side of the cook pot, meaning they fit BIG hands easier and they are less impacted by the cook heat under the pot, but still use hot pads, etc, and proceed carefully before just grabbing the handles. This is a product which has been improved for the consumer and both my wife and I were surprised at the improvement this represents over the one we have had for many years. It's rare to buy a "new" version of an "old" product and not see some aspect which has been thinned, lightened, made cheaper, etc. than it was in the past. This cook pot was actually just the opposite. Everything about it is improved. In fact, I double checked the "old" cook pot to make sure it was in fact a Calphalon pot, so I was comparing comparable items and our "old" large cook pot is part of a set of Calphalon cookware we have had for many, many years..... We are not one's to throw away old items simply because we have a new one. But the old Calphalon pot, which had actually warped and the lid would no longer fit has been relegated to the recycling container......... This is a really nice quality large cook pot. It's not cheap, but it's certainly not a "cheap pot", either. I would buy it again in a flash now that I have seen the actual product and how much nicer it is than it's predecessor. ... show more

This pot is awesome. Actually nonstick, lid drain feature is a game changer. But, that being said, if you find yourself in situations like, “oh shoot my dinner is burning and I can’t find the wooden tongs and maybe it will be fine to use the metal tongs??” You may actually want to consider a different option. Because it’s not fine to use the metal tongs and you will scratch the bottom. But, if you are not that type of person then yes, definitely get this pot. Made in the USA too. ... show more

great product, works well. Even dried up 3 day old roux don't stick to it. very easy to clean. Love the vents in the lid. Great price, would buy again for sure.

This pot is good quality. It wasn't as easy to clean as I expected from the non-stick surface, but it worked well. It is a good size and the lid fits well. The lid has holes on one side so you can drain pasta or vegetables, but it is tricky to pour out the hot liquid without burning yourself. I'm not sure i would buy it again, but it is a good value for the price. ... show more

    • I really do love this Dutch Oven from Calphalon
This was one of my mother's day gifts from my sons. My current Dutch oven is too heavy to use at times for me and the other pot I have has handles that are very wobbly and I don't have the correct tool to tighten them up. This "Pot" is much larger and easier for me to handle and I love the drain holes in the lid and the pouring spouts on both sides of the pot. It is easy to clean after using it but I will have to say I wish it had a rubber coated handle on the lid of the dutch oven, I always have to use a cloth so I don't burn my fingers because it does get hot on the stove. Do Not put this pot in the dishwasher also, only hand wash or the coating on the outside will come off. Overall I do love the choice my son made as I've been wanting a larger and deeper pot to cook with and apparently they were listening to me. I would recommend getting this Dutch Oven if you can. ... show more

As soon as I use it and wash it, I often find that I do not have an opportunity to put it away because it is so functional. You also do not have to use and wash a colander to drain the contents in it because it has its own easy build in draining system.

    • Just what this elder cook needs....
Well constructed and designed with a pouring lip and water strainer, it is just what I needed to replace to large similar pot that originally came with my Stainless Steel pots and pans bought in 1983. A few years ago, I loaned out my largest cooking pot and never saw it again. In reality, as I age now near eighty, I do not do as much cooking for large gatherings as I did in decades past....a widower for a couple of decades my personal cooking needs seldom require such. But when slow cooking a large roast rather than putting into a pressure cooker, it does provide good service. ... show more
