Great product for the money. 2nd order for this, and we've been pleased with the first order, which lasted 9 years. Great quality, we've had so many of these over the years from Lowes and this was so much higher quality, the color lasted, the material was heavy, the only problem was that the crank mechanism gave out after several years, and I had to order a new internal rope, which worked, though it was exceedingly challenging to fix. The 2nd time it broke, I ordered new rope and it never worked, so I drilled a hole in the pole and it worked for several years manually, without the crank, as many patio umbrellas do. I am very happy with this patio umbrella. The color is bright, and has not shown any signs of fading, although it has only seen about two months of use so far. The fabric is of nice weight, better than several that I have gotten over the years at the big box stores and provides much needed shade on the deck. I love the tilting mechanism! It works smoothly and automatically tilts once the umbrella is fully opened. Just keep turning the crank, and it begins to tilt. One thing I noticed is that when the umbrella is tilted, it has a tendency to rotate with even a slight breeze. I ended up drilling a hole in the pole for the screw in my stand to go through, and that stopped the spinning of the canopy. At first I was concerned about the pole snapping off near the crank as others have posted, but this umbrella has stood up to quite a few VERY strong storms in our area with no problems. I use my umbrella in a 17 lb stand and patio table, which provides some extra support. It handles breezy conditions well, but due to the light weight of the frame, you must close the canopy in windy conditions or it will topple over, table and all, unless you have a more heavy duty stand. Nice umbrella for the price. Seems pretty well made. The kiwi green is pretty. It has an auto tilt function where you tilt it by keeping cranking after the umbrella is fully open. My only complaint is that it only tilts a little. I prefer my other umbrella with the manual tilt function. It’s harder to deal with as a short person but you get much more tilt and therefor better late afternoon shade with a manual tilt function. ... show more

Already broken. We had some gusty winds last night and the umbrella was lifted from the base and one of the arms broke. The canvas fabric now has a hole too. I have only had the umbrella for 2 months. I considered California Umbrella to be higher quality so I paid more. The last cheap $100. umbrella I bought lasted over 10 years. Really disappointed in the low quality. Not getting any customer service help from Amazon or California Umbrella. ... show more

Great value! I work at a prestigious retail company. Even with my steep employee discount, I said screw this. The full price was $500! I'm so glad I found this umbrella on Amazon for this price. My home is white and I love the contrast with the solid black umbrella. All umbrellas are created equal imo. If you want them to last, store them during harsh winter weather or other inclement weather. Keep them folded when not in use. Like anything, theres wear and tear over time. Take responsibility and care for your belongings folks. I absolutely love my umbrella. I'd buy another one of these again. Oh yeah, wind makes umbrellas move. I can't believe I got this question. We have lived 30 years on the ocean front, and 12 years with a swimming pool. We have gone through a lot of umbrellas in all that time. Very few ever lasting more than 1 year, even ones costing 3 and 4 times what this one costs. We decide years ago to just buy cheaper ones and replace them as needed. We have now owned 4 of these, One going into its 3rd season, another starting year 2. and a newer one now in service. The 4th was just bought to have in reserve. We are careful to never leave them open when not home. Always closing them at night, or when threatening weather approaches. Two are mounted in tables with a center table hole and base support. The 3rd through holes in a deck rail. All are white and the fabric in the one over 2 years old is still very good, and white. A spray mildew cleaner several times a years is all we have done to the fabric. They do spend a total of 3 to 6 months in the garage. All still open and close very easily. We rarely tilt them, so I cannot comment on the durability of that feature. ... show more

The umbrella is good for the money. I have had it for 15 months and the color has mostly faded. it is open in the sun all day, so the fade is mostly even and it just looks like a light color brown now. if yours is in the share often it will probably last longer. Nothing functionally wrong with it, just the color faded. I would have expected this to last a bit longer. ... show more
