  • Limited software but still nice
Style: Roomba Combo i5+ w/ Replen Kit
The media could not be loaded. For those on the edge of deciding and get annoyed with long youtube videos. The combo bin is not so automatic. The liquid keeps seeping so you have to put the right amount or pour it out for later. The combo bin cant self empty the dirt I understand why but thats why its annoying I didnt know I have to be less lazy. The mopping does not put much pressure on the pad and it leaves streaks. It also cant detect carpets you would need to close the doors or barricade the area to block it (can also use smart map to select which rooms to go into) I choose the model because I felt the 800$+ was too pricey for basically the same hardware and thought it was odd why it such a huge price difference. Turns out the software is the major limiting factor to the point I kinda wish I paid attention and tried a different brand the software is more asvanced and they up the price alot more of similar hardware. This robo cant detect if it eating a cord, it will detect an actual jam but if something get stuck just right it will keep working and damaging it self unless we hear a weird soubd coming from it we will check it. Sometimes it cant make it out of it home base because the base signal catches it after a minute of leaving and it will go home when you choose option "vacuumed everywhere" it can reach. If you have a smart map then it will get out of home base area no problems (software limitations). It struggles to get home for some odd reasons it will literally bounce around your house till the battery dies trying to go home 🥺 poor thing.( 1 out of 8 times it will have troubles). 10 years ago you can slip a micro sd card into devices that can hold 128MB but now the roomba in this future can ONLY HOLD ONE SMART MAP! I do not know how much data it holds but I find this so BS. I am more then happy to download a back up of my smartmap of my house on to my cell but you are not allowed too, I search online to try to find away but you cant. The vacume everywhere it can reach, litterly means it will bounce around the house and when it thinks it got everywhere it will go home. It very inefficient but great for if you got a room that always closed off, then let it go ham in there without messing up your smart map since you can have only one map anyway. (I think you can still map multiple floors with one smart map) Keep in mind this version wont detect obects like clothings, cords, pets kamadoodoo, the more expensive version can. If something hard enoug hits the bumper it will work around it. I do love how it can go over thicc cables and about 1/2 straight edge bump not rounded at all. It gets stuck sometimes but it will get it self out. My kitchen have cabinets that stick out the edge the roomba is just a lil too tall but it knows it can get under it using it edge and spinning brush. It will turn right then left go straight a inch then turn right then left, it keeps doing that till it gets all of the edges in the kitchen, that was amazing for me. It even bumped it self around new objects and try to get it edge brush as close as it can, if it stop spinning then it will back off furtner so it can keep spinning freely around the edges. I find it weird when it boops it self hard enough it shuts down for a few seconds and then continues on like it got dazed lol. Wish you could tell it to keep the led lights on we like to have dark rooms and we save money by not leaving lights on but you can hear it but can't see it stucked under your bed unless you got a flash light. It will function in the dark too. All in all i do like this lil thing alot when it near the end of it life span I will be looking for ones that can auto mop like the higher ends roombas and hopefully better software and better control. Honestly they should let me hook up a bloody joy stick and let me control it as needed. Edit: didnt know I can only upload one vid. It doing that right keft thing right left along the edge. It knows about the stove and just went striaght. The photo shows that I do have a rounded edge never paid that much attention to it but it can hop it just fine. ... show more

  • This is a real time saver
Style: Roomba i3+
I always thought these were gimmicky. But I got one for Christmas and liked it so much I bought 2 more. I have all hard flooring, no carpets, and 2 dogs, a cat, and two birds that all contribute to mess. So I had to sweep everyday or I'd get those pet-hair tubleweeds blowing around. Having to sweep all the time I get lazy and let it go; or when I do it I spend an hour or 2 sweeping or vacuuming. These robots save me hours of time and get the job done better because they are relentless. I set them on a schedule and they do it everyday completely. I have one robot that I manually have to empty the cup everyday. He's in the bedroom, since I'm in that room every day that's convenient enough and only takes 2 minutes. I bought an i3+ and an i4+, they self empty and I have to change the bag about once every 2-4 months. I don't mind the cost of the vacuum bags because they give me so many hours of my time back. The first one I got is the little guy. The little guy's name is Finigan. Finigan isn't too smart. He vacuums in a random pattern. I started with him in the main part of the house. He did a great job but his battery usually ran out before he considered himself done. So the space is a bit more then he likes. He did a great job though. But I loved it so much I got more to cover the whole house and moved him to the smaller bedroom area. In the bedroom suite (bedroom + bathroom~350sq ft), he spends about 45 minutes zipping around to cover everything. When his battery is low he docks himself. I have to empty his cup everyday. At first his cup was usually about 3/4 full to full. The first day it filled and he stopped. I had to empty it and re-start him. After a few months of daily vacuuming, the cup is about 1/4 full each day. So I switched him to a MWF schedule. He's still about 1/4 to 1/2 full each use. He even goes under the bed and keeps that clean. It's really great. The i3+ is Dixie. Dixie does the downstairs. Dixie is smart. She goes in straight line patterns and covers the entire space using a very planned straight line methodical routine. The first day she poked around learning. It was about 1.5 hours. After that, the entire job was planned out and she did the whole thing in about 45 minutes. She has no problem when certain doors are opened vs closed. When it's open, she goes in and vacuums. If it's closed, she skips it. Her cleaning time varies from about 45 minutes to 1hr 15minutes depending on whether the extra rooms are included (doors open vs closed). She drives back to her base when done and docks. And the base sucks out what she collected. I love the base, it means I do not have to tend to her everyday. I actually only need to change the bag about every 3-4 months. There's not a lot going on downstairs. The litter box is there and so the cat pays visits. But we aren't down there daily tracking things around. Thanks to Dixie, there's no fur balls, hair-tumbleweeds, dust, or dirt. Always a nice clean floor. It's awesome. Her map in the app shows where she found 'extra' dirt. Usually right in front of the litter box. It's so awesome not having to sweep up litter daily. I have her on a MWF schedule too and that is more than enough to keep the place clean. I recently got Nick, an i4+ for the upstairs. He's quieter. He's like Dixie in is planning and map reporting, so he's smart. It's very cool. He also gets the job done quickly. First day was like 1.5 hours learning. Now he's done in 50 minutes. The base sucks everything out so I don't have to tend to him as much as Finigan. He's in the main part of the house and it gets the most dirty. The dogs spend all there time here. The cat is up here most of the time. And we have two birds who send seeds everywhere. It's amazing how far from the cage those birds can flick seeds. And their feathers and drift everywhere too. Nick takes care of all that. I do need to manually get under the couch and behind and under furniture which I do once every month or so. But this robot is awesome. Saves me the day in and day out sweeping and vacuuming. Having robots spend 3+ robot labor hours each day vacuuming is an awesome human labor saver. Once they've hit the whole house for a month or two I'm able to step them back to MWF schedules. Their brushes do a great job in the corners, better than me sweeping or vacuuming; mostly because they hit those corners every day and spend the time swirling that brush to work on it. That constant day in day out effort pays off over time. I really can't imagine going back to manually doing this. I look back at the hours I spent doing it thinking that was Neanderthal days. I look forward to telling my grand kids how I used to walk to school uphill in the snow everyday, dial rotary phones, select music off of CD's I had to manually put into a machine, and now, that I spent hours sweeping the floors in the good old days. ... show more

  • Works pretty well
Style: Roomba i3+
The cleaning power seems to be adequate. We tend to keep our house tidy so we haven't used this for deep cleaning. However, after having a house full of people (and a dirty dog) with us for a LONG weekend, this Roomba saved us from about a 45 minute task of manual vacuuming. Based on the amount of stuff in the bag, it did a good job. Now 45 minutes doesn't seem a lot, but I was able to mow the lawn while the house was being vacuumed. It's not perfect. The mapping function is a little wonky and the Roomba did get hung up once and trapped under a couch another time. But pressing the start button allowed the Roomba to continue. After a manual Mapping Run and a Cleaning Run, the map of our home looked pretty good. Based on the amount of stuff in the bag after one cleaning run, we might be going through a lot of bags. Now the question: Is it worth the money? The unit I got was a Amazon Warehouse deal in Very Good condition and it was a little more 1/3 of the typical selling price. The unit I received was like new and it looked like it was never used. The box was beat up but vacuum and base were either never used or factory refurbished. So yes, at that price I paid, this was worth the money. At the typical selling price? I don't know. It all depends on how much you hate vacuuming and how much disposable income you have. ... show more
