I hate going to the gym because my local gym always has people using up all the benches. I never get a good workout in, because I can only use the machines, which are the only things available. I like being able to workout at my own convenience, so I shopped around for a bench. I was looking for a bench that could do flat/incline presses and not take up too much space. This was the only one I found that folded up. For the price I saw on Amazon, I was a bit hesitant. Not only was it cheap, it was eligible for free prime shipping as well, so I was a bit skeptical because shipping alone for this probably cost $40. The reviews were better than the other benches so I went for it. When I opened the box, it looked like the box just exploded in my room and all I saw was a thousand nuts/bolts, and some metal bars. I was scared to death because the instructions were only 4 pages long, and it was very intimidating at first glance. After about a half hour though, I could see the bench starting to come together, and it was fairly easy to put together. As another reviewer mentioned, there was a mistake with one of the steps, but its easy to catch. It's exactly as I had wanted, and it folds up like a dream. The leg attachment is probably the bulkiest part when folded up, but it's not that big of an issue. There is NO decline on this bench though. The lowest it will go is flat, then it goes three steps ascending slightly. Since this bench has been in my room, I've gone from inclining 95lbs to 125lbs in three weeks. It's amazing, because I was barely able to bench 100lbs, and now I can do 3 sets of 8 @ 125lbs. When I get to a point where I want to take a break or a commercial is on TV, I'll just do a few reps here and there. I feel like I'm starting to plateau a bit, but I'm still pushing myself to go even higher and hope to get up to 160 (all the weights I have). I noticed another reviewer pointed out the back of the seat isn't that great for short people. I'm 145lbs @ 5'5" and I did notice it at first, but after a week of ownership, I don't even realize what the issue is anymore. All in all I think this is a great bench, and is competitively priced. Why go through the trouble of getting one at a B&M store when you can get something shipped directly to your house, for free!

Sturdy, safe, folds, high quality, flat + 3 incline levels, HAPPY customer!

** Please read ** My order shipped on Monday - it arrived the next day! I LOVE that it folds! It takes so little space. Very happy about this. Instructions and drawings were very clear and easy to follow. Assembly was very easy. Took me ~90mins to do it by myself. If I had to assembly it again it'd only take me ~20mins. All pieces looked brand new. Nothing was missing or damaged. Box was in great shape. Gap between back pad and sit pad I measured it to be exactly 10cm (when flat): many have complained about this "gap" but your lower back is supposed to be suspended in midair and arched so the padding there is not needed at all, so the complain is ridiculuous. I was able to do flat bench presses normally and without a single problem by arching my back like I was supposed to. The gap is closed by 2cm when used with any of the three inclinations. Leg developer: It was a great extra! I tried it and it works well. Worked out my quatriceps and hamstrings. My sister certainly is happy about this extra. The bag with all the screws comes with two tools to tighten up the bolt screws. Tighten the bolts extremely well to prevent any serious injury and even death! The manual comes with a drawn ruler on every page that is important in order to make it easy to identify the bolt screws. As others have pointed out, some of the steps in the instructions have already been done for you, but those steps are the "super easy ones." It feels extremely sturdy and I feel completely safe with it. If you're going to bench alone (no spotter) - well use caution. Undertand your limits. On my first try, there was one lift I could not push all the way up... and when I was struggling to do something about the weight, I almost injured my left shoulder, right on the first day! So please know your limits and be very careful if you don't have a spotter. I'm thinking of purchasing a "power rack" in the future. Doesn't have declined. It has flat and three levels of incline (don't know the degree angles). The Cap Barbell Weight Bar Standard 72-Inch Threaded Bar that I ordered separately fit perfectly. This bench allows for any kind of grip, so the width is perfectly appropriate, as opposed to the Marcy Classic Standard Bench with Arm Curl which although was cheaper I didn't purchase because most were complaining about the "grip width" of the machine being inappropriate. The barbell bar must be unmounted before folding and locking it (comes with safety pin to lock it). This bench also worked perfectly when I did my dumbbell flyes with it. Both flat and inclined worked. I'll work hard with bench presses + dumbbell flyes to build a big and strong chest! Verdict: VERY happy customer. I love this bench press. I have zero complaints.

Great bench for a small area

I selected this bench because I only have a small area to work with, but I still wanted a full-size Olympic set. A 7' bar fits just fine on the supports, and the whole thing is sturdier than I expected, yet still light enough I could pull it away from the wall and fold it down to go to work with it. It folds up easily, and there's both a catch and a pin that help keep it upright and prevent accidental collapses. Assembly itself was very easy. Many of the rubber caps had already been placed on the equipment, and most of the nuts and washers had already been threaded on to the bolts to make it easy to match them up appropriately. The two flat wrenches that came packed with the bench worked great. I did have minor complaints: one of the braces for the cross support bar was slightly bent, and I was missing two small lock washers. However, neither affect the stability of the construction. Because I was down to just the bottom seat with the lock washers, I just left the two of them out. If the seat starts getting unstable, I'll just go out and purchase two lock washers at the local hardware store. As stated in a previous review, the bench does not decline despite the product description. However, by elevating the foot, it can be accomplished. The bench lies flat across the support, and there are three levels of incline. The cross bar looks a little thinner, but it actually feels fairly solid. That bar stores upright in a small sleeve near the bottom of one leg of the bench. The gap in the seat is not a big deal at all, and is a consequence of the design. If that gap didn't exist, the two parts of the bench/seat would be rubbing together. The back rest is as long as it can get without being a problem for the incline function. One complaint about the back rest, and the main reason I knocked off the one star, is there is no padding at the bottom edge. When I opened and inspected the pad, there was not a problem with it. However, after just raising the back rest a few times, a cut appeared along the bottom edge. Turns out the support board on the inside touches right up against the cover, and the edge of the board cut through the material when it pinched against the bar beneath it. I hope the manufacturer will put some kind of sleeve around the wood or insert a little more padding in the future to prevent this from happening. Overall it's a good bench and I look forward to getting a lot of use out of it.

Much better quality than I expected

I bought this mainly because it can fold up and I don't have a lot of room. At 60+ years I will not be using heavy weights and will use it only 1-2 times per week, so consider that as you read my review. Before purchasing I read the reviews about units arriving with parts missing, broken components, I figured more junk from China but I'm used to dealing with that by now and I hit the "buy" button because of the folding feature and relatively low price. I've purchased and assembled a lot of junk since the 1960's, first, junk from Japan, then their quality improved. American manufactured items can be good or crap depending on the manufacturer. Then came China. With the quality of most of their goods, you wonder how they keep a country functioning. In this case, my expectations were low. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. The packaging was excellent, with all parts wrapped in plastic within the box and fastened with zip ties to keep the parts from rubbing against each other and scratching the finish. All nuts, bolts, and washers were shrink wrapped on a piece of cardboard with the sizes noted that corresponded to the sizes indicated in the assembly instructions, and nothing was missing. The paint on all parts was flawless which is a real rarity from China. The assembly instructions were easy to follow. Everything fit together perfectly. I kept expecting to come up short on a component or fastener, but every time I thought I had, it turned out something was still in the box or I had dropped something. Apparently the Illinois based company that designs and imports this product understands the expectations of the American consumer and knows how to deliver. So, a tip of the hat to Best Fitness and also to whoever does the manufacturing, painting, and packaging. Again, I'm not really a fitness guru so look to someone else for that review, but so far I'm pleasantly surprised and I rarely give five star ratings

Some comments: 1. Structurally very solid. Bolts fit well, sized well. All is designed well. 2. The leg workout mechanism is worthwhile. Two bushings provided at the pin to keep the mechanism "tight" so it doesn't flop around. Not too much adjustment for different leg lengths, but it should work for most. 3. Folding for storage is easy and well thought out. 4. Nice chrome touches; arms and cylinders 5. It would have been nice to sleeve the pin holes in the arms to guide the pins to reduce the time spent trying to make the pins (adjusting the arms at different heights). I would have paid the extra $10-$15 for this. Not a big deal but... 6. Assembly instructions: Would be much better to show the figure on the same page as the associated written procedure. As it is, you need to flip back and forth between the figure and procedure. Again, not a big deal, but pretty stupid to save one page of paper. On the bright side, the figures are great, and the to scale bolt diagram on every other sheet is very nice. All in all a great value.

Excellent Weight Bench

The product ended up arriving sooner than I was expecting and I rushed home in excitement to start working on it. The box was in good repair, no damage whatsoever, so I pushed the heavy package all the way to my room to start assembly. After cutting the ties and opening the box, I see an array of parts, all with their own plastic coverings. Seems like a lot of parts, but I'll figure this out quickly. Having removed the plastic bags from each part, I have a decent idea of what will go where, so I begin reading the instructions carefully and get right to it. All in all, it's quite straightforward, and I spent almost two hours building it. You could probably go a lot faster, but I was in no rush, and I took my time. ;) I should note that all parts needed were included, and the only slight difficulty I had was screwing in two bolts into the wood composite back rest. The bench fits perfectly in my room. The folding mechanism is really neat and easy to use. Its a great addition to my room that blends nicely with all the other furniture. I really like the finish of grey, complimenting the chrome stands. I feel it is very sturdy for the class of bench it is. I also have not had problems with the gap in between the seat pad and back pad that others have complained about. I am very pleased with the product, and am ready to make full use of it.

Great value

Initially came across this bench when looking for any kind of bench under $200. The fact that it folds up was a huge bonus, and the ultimate reason I chose this bench over others. Basically what I can say about this bench is that it's good enough. Works with all of my exercises and I never get the feeling it's going to break. The gap in the padding on the bench, as others have mentioned, isn't really a huge deal. I stopped noticing it within a week. Not a lot of complicated parts here, so don't really have to worry about breaking anything. If you're short on space and would benefit from saving 3-4 square feet of floor space, just get this bench. Much better than having to lug off to the gym every other day.

Solid and Sturdy!

I am not a fitness guru, more of a type who exercises after looking in the mirror thinking "I better do something". I purchased a dept. store Golds Gym bench for my son and it basically was never used. A few months ago during one of my "I better do something" moments, i started to use the bench. However, found that I could not safely work on upper body because the poles that hold the bar were not wide enough. Potential hand killer! There are so many different benches and manufacturers, reviews for many were not good. Looking for something affordable, olympic style - where the bar holder/poles are wide enough to work on upper body, sturdy/solid, and better quality. The Body-Solid Best Fitness Olympic Folding Bench seemed legit, a tad higher than I wanted to go but remember personal safety is important also. When purchasing these types of things online, you take a risk of sorts. Took sweet time to build mainly because I wanted to do it right and not rush. The instructions are not the easiest to follow, thankfully its not rocket science. Nice illustrations but not enough text and confusing part identification. The parts are nicely packaged in the box, everything is wrapped in plastic and some parts had plastic covers to prevent scratching. The bolts feel solid and weighty but some bolts fell out of the packaging during transport. There are two supplied "wrenches" or tools which is nice but a tad difficult to use. Need both hands to use the tools! The positive thing is that, at least the tools were supplied. The steel used in this item is heavy gauge, feels solid! Overall the bench is weighty and solid. Better quality than I expected! The bar holder uses pins, much safer than what your typical dept stores benches. The cushions are nicely padded and again solid! There is a good amount of foam toward the leg area, which protects against abrasion and injury. Update: I still like this weight bench, the finish on the steel is nice. The space between the bar holders is great. However, I find that the leg curl/leg extension mechanism is too low to the ground. My feel get stuck during leg extensions. i have to extend my legs up before starting a leg extension, which means I cannot do a full leg extension. Also, there is a good amount of weight on the leg extension unit on its own. I am only using half the weights. On the old bench, the leg extension mechanism was higher off the ground and less weighty. I was able to use more weights. Update 2: Customer service is terrible! I contacted the manufacturer regarding the leg curl/leg extension issue and they could not offer anything. Dropping to 3 stars. Update 3: The bolt that holds the leg extension bent, therefore causing the leg curl/leg extension to tilt. I ended up returning this bench. In the end, it did not work out.
